I also tried Hammer products from REI for cramp but did not do a dam thing for my cramps.
You may be able to get the Salt Stick pills at any good bicycle store.

Dont know about you guys, but heat stress kills me and my trials stamina, performance.
Being originally from cold, rainy Scotland and now living in the really hot, dry, southwest USA the heat just saps my energy and subsequently brings on muscle cramps that are totally painful, subsequently causing me to cramp out of the trial.
I have listened to many a person telling me to eat bananas, salt, magnesium, drink more water, drink pickle juice, take an Aspirin before the trial etc etc. Nothing worked. I had a doctor check my electrolytes and all was well.
I tried numerous off the shelf products all claiming to stop the cramps, nothing worked.
I have taken high doses of Magnesium, Potassium, etc.
I even had to go to emergency once due to the cramps being so bad, the ER doctors told me I drank too much water subsequently diluting my electrolytical levels to a dangerously low level.
I gave up and rode each weekend not knowing how long or when the cramps would hit me and end my day of riding.
Am I the only one who suffers from sever cramps?
Last month I came across this product called “Salt Stick Caps”. Okay here we go I thought another product claiming to stop the heat related cramps, I bought it and tried it with much skepticism, the jury is still out on this product but so far four rides in altitudes ranging from 1000 ft to 7200 ft and temperatures from 90F to 104 F.
No cramps to report. Nothing else I have tried has had this result. I will keep using it and report on my findings, but to-date I am very optimistic that I may have found something that works for me and my cramps.

Two factors com into play here. Repsol predominantly underwrite the cost of the “Honda/Montesa/Repsol” trials team.
Secondly the R&D costs have long being amortized due to the qty of bikes over the years you mentioned. Little changes to the design over a long period of time. Where as the other marques change quite a bit from year to year resulting in having to recoup the R&D cost in shorter time frame.
Honda/Montesa is more evolutionary while the other brands are more revolutionary. This is also witnessed by the Japanese car brands
and such cars as Camry, Civic etc they don't change much over the years and they slowly evolve.

A tip: When you are teaching a rider to do a “Pivot Turn” is it VERY important that when they put their foot down to turn on they should place or point the foot placed down at the angle or direction that they are turning to.
Why, just look at the example in the video showing the Pivot Turn, the guys foot and ankle is all twisted and as he put the pivot foot down in the straight on direction of the bike before the pivot turn.
That is hard on your knee and ankle as you are twisting them as you turn. Their foot is planted down so all the twisting forces are placed on the knee and ankle joints.
If the foot is placed down initially in the direction of the turn it also saves you from lifting it placing it down again for another point or five. The turn is so much smoother and fluid if you place the foot down in the direction of the turn. Once you do the pivot turn this way both feet are pointed in the direction you are headed (one on the foot peg and the one on the ground)and makes it easier to take off especially if there is a rock there.

Some guys even put the foot down and pivot on their heel bone but that is too easily mistaken
by a judge as one or two dabs as the front of the foot comes off the ground while the heel is on the ground with the riders front part of the foot going back down to the ground,
Best to just plant it down the first time solidly in the direction of the turn.
Try it for yourself and you will see what I mean.

Here is my take on this whole Elf oil product in a Repsol Petroleum company sponsored trials team. What came first the dragging sticky Montesa clutch (used in the 315 and 4RT) or the Elf HTX oil? If the dragging sticky clutch was there from the onset then Honda/Montesa would have sought out and tried different transmission oils to solve the dragging issue. Given that this was almost ten years or so ago when they first started using it in their 315 2T why not stick with it today. Its certainly not from a marketing relationship with ELF. Someone correct me here has there ever been an official Montesa trials team sponsored by ELF through the years? The fact that the manual suggests Repsol oil in the engine yet ELF HTX740 in the clutch helps my case. You can bet they tried the Repsol clutch oil and did not take care of a sticky dragging clutch. Surely Repsol asked them “why not use all our petroleum offerings in the bike” I bet they tried but the clutch oil fell short, not because it is bad oil but rather it could not completely cure the problem. I am not suggesting that all Montesa's have this issue but there some out there in the prior model years. The same could be said for the front and rear brake fluid, why not use Repsol fluids? Maybe beacuse the company that designed the front and rear master cylinder designed it and warranties it to Montesa based upon a specific type and brand of hydraulic fluid? They may have tried a Repsol substitute in the clutch but it still dragged and was sticky, so why not stick with what has been somewhat successful. The clutch pack has not change that much since its inception and introduction from 315 2T to 4RT. In reality oil technology has moved on since then and there must be many brands of oil out there now than can do the job just as well if not better than the ELF HTX740. I seriously doubt they designed a clutch pack so they could use ELF clutch oil. Rather they sought out an oil that helped solve a sticky dragging clutch and the ELF did the trick at that time in space and current oil technology. However I don't think it solved the problem completely as some prior and new bikes still have sticky dragging 315 2T & 4RT clutches. I have no use for the HTX 740 and have sought out another brand that for me so far has resulted in a more progressive engaged fully released clutch in my 2014 Repsol. I use an oil that is made for a wet clutch application and is predominately a clutch based oil rather than predominantly a gear box oil that can be use in a clutch application. For Honda to recommend a whole new brand of clutch oil would take a lot of testing on their part and support, to put that much engineering effort, time, money into that and maybe come up with a clutch oil other than a Repsol product would really be slap in the face for Repsol, so best leave alone! Honda/Montesa have other battles to fight right now.

A smaller carb will make it more responsive at the bottom end and then lose some on the top end.
The flywheel weight slows it down as to how comes on violently.
I would try the black throttle tube first,along with the flywheel weight. They are cheap and easy to change
and don't open up things like potential air leaks.
What about gearing?

down a Beta 300cc.

What I find most interesting is that the Montesa Honda trials bike team is sponsored by Repsol
A VERY large oil and gas company with many specialized oils and lubricants for engines transmissions in all
sorts of motorcycle and automotive applications yet the bike uses Elf HTX and who knows what other fluids in it from the factory? Why no Repsol gearbox, clutch lubricants brake fluids suspension fluids ???
Seems Repsol would want to use the bike as a advertisement of its products.
Makes me go mmmmmmmm

I needed a spark arrestor on my 2014 Repsol. Could not find one to just bolt on so to speak. I bought a stock cleanable spark arrestor and designed my own attachment. The exhaust end cap is riveted on so did not what to drill out the rivets. I had to be creative in mounting this so, had my friendly machine shop wizard make me an adapter that would go in one end of the spark arrestor and the other end into the silencer opening. Nothing new or creative about that at all. But how I mounted it makes me chuckle. I soaked the adapter in liquid nitrogen warmed up the spark arrestor and pressed it in. I then started up the bike let the silencer get good and warm re-dipped the spark arrestor (with the adapter pressed in to it) back in liquid nitrogen shrinking the adapter down and then slide it into the hot expanded silencer opening. I hope I never have to take it off as it is in the for good. It will of course come off with the end cap to re-pack when I drill out the rivets. The spark arrestor is black, turned white when frozen and then back to black once warmed back to ambient temps. It has also gave the bike a rasper snarl to it. Happy..... BillyT

I was thinking of how many points I have got during my riding career.
If one uses a loose formula of one trial per month multiplied by how many years you have
been riding. I come up with this =
Average 30 Points per trial X 12 (months) multiplied by 30 years equals = 10,800 Points
No wonder I need new boots each year my feet are always on the ground LOL
What are your total career points?
