  1. Cope Slapshot is Ian. Not Donald! You are Mark, I am William. Now go empty your tea pot! There is bunch of us going to Bridgeport Saturday am, care to tag along! My local cell 480-414-9267 BillyT
  2. Thanks Ian. Ian are you close to Forres?
  3. I am surprised ShercoJay did not advise that the towing vechile needed higher ocatne fuel and there would have been no issue with the police? LOL
  4. Jon I cant get the font to change size! Sorry! Yes as I stated earlier one would have to change out the throttle cam assembly. Yes I agree and can see it now. Another rider jumps on your bike and there is no throttle to turn! Many years ago one could buy a blank throttle tube with no cam on it. It is very easy to make if one wanted to try it!
  5. Sorry guys. I can not get the font size to change in the edit function. So why not switch the clutch hydraulic over to the right hand side master cylinder and the front brake hydraulic hose over to the left hand side master cylinder and then take the throttle tube assembly from the right hand side bar position and install on the left hand side bar position. You would have to make a new throttle cam to go the opposite way with this set up. The advantage is that lefties can be more comfortable with the main control in their dominant hand. So, lefties if you had a throttle cam available for this experiment would you try it?

    2011 Beta Evo

Hey Jimmy (Technowaldo) I was not speaking to his posting the question on this site, but rather how he pose his question in the posting. One can type a word incorrectly but still get their point and or question across! His question makes no sense! I assumed he was asking when we will hear about the 2011 Beta's. The way he wrote it was like he was pulling our legs as you only here about the 2011 release once and that is in or at the end of 2010. It is not a normal thing to hear about a 2011 Beta every year as he wrote. A joke question deserves a joke answer! Just as yer wee maw writing this in a letter: "Everything here is okay and the family are doing well". I was going to include a picture of your sister new baby but I have already licked and sealed this envelope shut. I will send the picture in the next letter". Maheidisfernippinweaweyonpatter!

    2011 Beta Evo

Mmm Well, they would not have told us about the 2011 back in 2009, nor the anything about the 2011 back in 2008! We do not normally here about a next year bike until approximately September/October etc. Are you asking when we will get information about the 2011 Evo, if you are we do not normally here about a 2011 as it is not a normal thing! Pose your question correctly and you will get serious answers from good trials folks!
  9. Okay, a thought with some questions associated with it! How many righties to lefties are riding trials? Do the lefties have trouble with the right hand throttle? What would happen if we installed a quad/four wheeler type thumb throttle to a trials bike? Would this be nuts or start a trend? Things that make you go mmmmm....
  10. No matter the orientation of the screw turning it out will always provide less dampning making the back end more lively. The direction will always be counter clockwise. Hope this helps. At least you have a good sense of humour! If this does not work try calling the PH, 800 hotline they are used to helping people with rear end problems. Cheers. BillyT
  11. Cope Where do you get off making comments about another riders rear end? You have made him all fluster.
  12. "Hello, Im a week away from nationals and I am not fully happy with my rear end, since Ive always rode Scorpa" Mmm ..... was you boyfreind happy with your rear end when you rode another type of bike? Just ignore him and his comments, maybe another will like your rear end.
  13. Jim Jetting is such a personal thing. With all else equal (the bike running okay in lay mans terms) what works for me may not be suitable for you. With that been said most buyers of a the Beta Evo four stroke have re-jetted and re-sprung the CV diaphragm spring. The parts all in cant be more than $30 USD. Get a hold of your dealer or call Tim at American Beta to obtain the parts. If I can help you e-mail me @ billytraynor@hotmail.com Billy
  14. Okay.... Hers is one. Who played for Rangers for 25 years yet never kicked a ball?
  15. Jim I would use the exact jetting/spring I have mentioned in my prior postings. Change the plug to the iridium verion. Have you tried playing about with the mapping switch! Ie position 1 soft & position 2 hard! If you check out my You Tube videos you can hear how it runs. Let me know how it goes. BillyT
  16. Ron I have the jetting @ # 20 Pilot, 112.5 main, CV carb spring changed from a stock .027 spring wire diameter to .025. The clip is second notch down from top. I am riding at two elevations 800 ft & 6400 ft and this jetting works great for both altitudes. I have changed the plug out to an iridium plug and that has made quite a difference in how it starts and runs. Of course the Jitsi fuel screw installed and adjusted as need be for weather, humidity etc. Also very important to keep the air filter clean as the bike needs to breath with it being a 300cc and the air box a stock size for a 125, 200, 250, 290cc. The air box really needs to be bigger for the 300cc. I am working on that one! Mmmm... Billy
  17. Hey Ron Thanks for the info. I rode a trial on Sunday @ 6400ft elevation and the bike ran flawlessly. Lots of power on tap. I used a .025 wire diameter on the diaphragm spring. I keep the .025 wire diameter in even at 800ft elevation. No slide bounce with this soft spring on drop offs. The big change was the iridium plug as it really cleaned up the spark. I am happy with the jetting now.
  18. Hey Jim Why the change in jetting? I would guess you are riding in Michigan under 1000ft elevation. I am riding anywhere from 800ft > 6400 ft elevation. Quite a difference indeed. When one gets a bike from Beta it will be jetted rich to make sure that a customer does not lean seize the bike. Basically Beta does not know where the bikes will end up once bought i.e. elevation, humidity, temperature so they error on the side of caution. The stock CV carb spring is too strong above 1000ft elevation. When riding at higher elevation the spring in the CV carb diaphragm presents too much force for the thinning air witnessed by the bike responding poorly when the throttle is cracked open. By you asking to tame the bike down I assume that you have experienced the opposite? Have you played with the two stage mapping switch under the side panel? BillyT
  19. Darrel This feels nothing like the Scorpa. The Scorpa felt lighter, quicker responding, built confidence. The key word is felt lighter when trying to hop, float. The Beta 300cc 4T runs great, and well put together I think it is more of a weight/balance/distribution thing. The other is that a 300cc four stroke actually gets too much traction on BIG Sticky rocks as opposed to a two stroke. Since it gets more traction on the sticky rocks it fools you into thinking it can go up anything and that makes one try bigger things than one normally would. That is when it bites you in the ass. It needs more run on or RPM's to shoot up bigger rocks. It simply does not rev out that quickly compared to a two stroke. This gets me in trouble. It is not a matter of simply pulling the clutch and rev the crap out of it and then dumping the clutch, that will get one tired real quickly. There is one more thing I found out DO NOT BACK OFF THE THROTTLE going up big rocks, a little thing called engine braking will bring you to a quick slow down and then fall down LOL On a two stroke one can back of the throttle on a big up and then coast over the object, kind of like point and shoot. On this bike, point, twist throttle, let clutch out and hold on (and hold throttle ON) until the object is in your rear view mirror so to speak. I have the jetting @ # 20 Pilot, 112.5 main, CV carb spring changed from a stock .027 spring wire diameter to .025. I am riding at two elevations 800 ft & 6000 ft and this jetting works great for both altitudes. I have changed the plug out to an iridium plug and that has made quite a difference in how it starts and runs. It is all maybe perception, but time on the pegs will tell. How are you liking yours compared to the Montesa & Scorpa? Cheers BillyT
  20. Hey Mark, yes my timing is all messed up now on this beast. It seems like your brain is thinking ahead and the bike takes time to re-act. I am learning to ride all over again. Maybe that is a good thing as I will drop all of my old bad habits LOL I tried what you told me on the You Tube posts. It would only allow me to post one at a time. So Mark, when are you going over to the dark side? LOL Cheers BillyT
