    What Is This?

Dabster I do not know the first thing about Gas Gases, and I know it. But,,,, I think I stated it does exactly as you said, I said " it changes the spark advance at the higher RPM's and is preset at the factory" Mmmm... my point is now well established that if one writes poorly the message is taken wrongly or miss understood. touche. Hopefully I created a stink and people will be a little more thoughtfull in their posts? Steve, is that an invite to stay with you? Roast me please I am in Canada its cold Global warming from the roasts, another topic I predict. Steveeeeeee...... Mon Ami Avec proteines, glucides, et 22 vitamines et mineraux

    What Is This?

dirtyacid engini map changes the rPm,s, Set at factor,y. You can,t change it. It changes the sparck advance either advancing or retarding". hopes thes helps you. That better guys? Sorry it was that time of the month I will try and behave my self in future BillyT
  3. Beta Rob You do NOT need a new carb, just a person who knows up to set it up correctly. Check out my carb set up on this site and you will be all set. Cheers BillyT
  4. Ron The bike I just worked on is a 2006 model. Standard HP was 15 raised to 20 when finnished. Not bad as standard HP for a 250 is 21HP. "the 24 mm carb does not work..maybe for a novice but not for the wct or nationalexpert class .." I think I stated that in my e-mail,the guy asking the question I think is not a world class or national rider. Guys, I have every respect for Ron jr + snr, every tuner has their own way of doing things so this is not a reflection of Ron's post but rather another qualified tuners opinion. Opinions are like buts we all have them. Respectfully BillyT
  5. Rasing the performance of a 125c Beta as proven by dyno checks fall along some of the following modifications. The idea is to get more air into the engine as it is basically a pump, then allow it to breath and run out in RPM"S. We have had much succes with the following. Leave the stock head alone, machining it changes the squish band angle. It is a well known fact in motocross tuning circles that raising the compression by removing metal from the head only gives you a boost in the mid range. It also tightens up the engine from running out at higher RPM"S. Remove approximatly the thickness of the base gasket from the jug, which in turn will lower the ports, this will provide more bottom end and will raise the compression. We now have to get the exaust port to open sooner to get back the high end RPM"S. This equates to machining the exaust port out to open up sooner. Matching or blue printing the exaust port to the the gasket as Ron has mentioned is vital. Since there is less vacuum due to the smaller cylinder the same 26mm carb does not flow correctly. A smaller bore carb such as the MIkuni 24mm flat slide will provide a much needed flow correction. This smaller carb will also boost the bottom end. If you realy want to increase the higher RPM's then a crank case stuffer will raise cranckcase pressure forcing the mixture up and out of the cases when the exaust port opens. To many tricks to type here for bringing a 125cc Beta to life. The goal is not RPM alone on a 125cc but being able to back of the throttle under load and then get back on the power, without reving the crap out of the engine as one has to do with a 125cc. These mods alows this to happen. Keep in mind just like the 250cc bikes what works for works riders does not always work for the average Joe. We ride in much lower gears and do not rev the bike as they do. The Beta is probably the best tuning bike of all the 125cc Trials bikes for these tricks. BillyT
  6. "seems strange that we, as the country that invented trials," And where in Scotland would this magazine be printed? I thought you were English?
  7. Your pads are vibrating on the piston puck. Either the steel part of the pads are warped or there is a bunch of crap stuck between pad and puck. Take them apart and clean them or replace the pads. If all else fails go to your local and supply store and pick up some anti vibration lube that they sell for the same problem with car brakes. Cheers BillyT
  8. Thanks JTT But still do not have the answer to my question. I will ask it another way. If I were to cut a slot out on a piece of wood how long would it have to be to fit the rear tire through, then the same question for the front. Again that would be the diameter of the tire mounted on then wheel. Or twice the radius. Any one got a tape measure
  9. Guys not looking for the circumfrence just the outside diamter of the tire. I do not have a bike at hand or I would measure it myself. Can some one measure the diamtere of the front and back tire for me????? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the info, but how do I get the outside diametre of the front and back tire? Thanks
  11. Tire Size Front 2.75-21 Rear 4.00-18 Does this mean the front tire is almost 3" high or wide? And what does the - 21 mean? The rear 4.00 high or wide. And what does the 18 stand for. In other words how do you read these measurment?
  12. Steveo, no idea but it took me about 10 strokes. Before I dabbed If memory serves me correctly she was very hard to get started, coughed and spluttered a lot, did not not need lubrication, did not like me throwing a leg over her when she was cold, got jelouse when I rode other lighter models, got all hissy for no aparent reason, come to think of it she was a four stroke BillyT
  13. Are we talking about with a bike ? If so, how about the strangest object? That would have to be the inside of a house that was being built. Up and down the stairs, on top of the kitchen cabinets, up and over the toilet pan, in and out of the bath tub, to end by rding over a drunk Mexican worker that was sleeping under a tarp (un-known to me and) scaring the crap out of him If not a bike! How about a Hillman Imp in the back seat, (I think her name was Susie) BillyT
  14. As an ex pat (from Scotland) living in Canada & the USA for over twenty years I have my thoughts on this topic. But my thoughts would be very contrversial and not taken to lightly Maybe one day if you can get me drunk I will spill the beans Until then

    Beta 06 Extras

Miky bar boy. Welcome aboard. The "special head" more than likely has a different squish angle and or compression ratio. A special carb would be a 28mm bore Delorto. You need to tell us what type, year, of bike you have and what it is you would like to accomplish by adding the special parts. Maybe you do not have to buy these parts and we could tell you how to make the changes that you need. Give us more info about what you are thinking or are you just kicking tires? yeraweestoteroaweefraeparsleyland No, not text talk but Glasweigin. Now if I posted messages like that how would you feel? Cheers BillyT

    Beta 06 Extras

Millzy No one here is out to bash you, trials people are the salt of the earth. If you place your thoughts down so that others can understand them the chances of you getting treated with respect is much higher. Given the fact that you are new here and that some of us have been for about ten years now, some "when in Rome" consideration should be given. I use the word "carb" many times in many articles, you used the word "cab". I see that you have cleaned up you original post, good! The more (legible) info you give us up front the more likely we are to offer advice. We do not care about spelling, if the intent to spell correctly was there in the first place. So, how can we help you and what is that you are trying to achieve? BillyT

    Beta 06 Extras

I am not speaking about spelling or grammer, hell I am the first one to admit that my spellinnggg is bad. BUT it was obvious from the posting that there was no attempt to spell or use correct grammer, but rather an obvious quick type with short text type messaging.

    Beta 06 Extras

i have the 250 06 beta and wounder if there was any extra performace or cab stuff does any one know of what the special head does diff to the origanal?? The above is the reason why I think that this site is becoming like a text message service What happend to the days when people took the time to put their thoughts down correctly? What is "cab" or "wounder"....... Ten years of posting and now it comes down to this way of asking questions Does this reflect the average age of whom is posting or am I a dinosaur?
  19. By following my Mikuni set up advice The carb is bought in bulk from Mikuni by Beta. The carb was originaly off a Suzuki dirt bike. It is about 20 years old in design. Cheers BillyT
  20. Dial Betty for your request 01144419468988 There is non easier If she is sober you should not take any dabs.

    Very Special Fantic

Actualy this bike is one that the stickers fell off. It is actualy a Gas Gas. In fact Gas Gas in Spanish means "cardboard cardboard.
  22. Your cold starting is due to a #25 jet if that is indeed what you have in the bike. Switch to a mininum of #35 pilot jet. Mikuni jets only go down to #10 on the pilots so it could not be "2.5". GET A BIG MAGNIFIER AND LOOK CLOSER. Trust me....... Cheers BillyT
  23. Jets with adjustments #35 Min pilot 40> 45 reccomended. @140 Main Jet. Air screw 2.5 turn out. BillyT
  24. billyt

    Pre-ignition?

Mmmmm I have been telling people for years the importance of the pilot jet. Keep in mind the pilot jet is still working at all the stages of throttle opening. Glad to see you have fixed the problem. BillyT
  25. Two turns with "V" groove on front of slide. Reduced shroud on needle jet? Smoothed bore!
