  1. From what I have found, I think the high torque of the engine creates the grip problems, with a two stroke initial setting off especially in high gears loads the motor alot, you dont get this with the 4rt it just goes and spins, I did find stepping on the back brake on take off did load the engine enough to stop it spinning but it was'nt always possible at times. Stick a 2 stroke in 3rd and pull up a bank, it struggles but grips because of it,do the same on the Mont and it spins on the spot. Another point as Jimmy stated once you loose grip your coming backwards and going nowhere, it wont burn up and recover like a two stroke too much to turn to instantly light it up.

hmmmm? forgot about all that chewy, heard of the bust frame and swingarms but nothing yet about the other famous Beta problems, hopefully they have been ironed out on the Evo

4th sounds good to me Dave, Yennards I think would be best mate if possible, hope you get it next week. Gizza, no not thought about re-sale for a 200 but not really that bothered if its the bike I like, think Steve does plenty of 250 decals for it when I come to sell lol. Had my first go on two today, a 250 and a 290, the 250 was more lively than I expected and and felt very very light, I struggled for the first few minutes to even get any feel that there was a back wheel somewhere behind me. Bars on it were way to forward but it did feel very nice as well as the suspension. The bigger bike was well lively, lots of grunt low down but abit mental off pilot, on both bikes I struggled to get to the back brake easy as the frame seemed to be in the way but expect an hour or so of riding would sort that out. I've pretty much not ridden a 2 stroke at all for 2 years and I think it will take a week or two to get used to the Evo engine and lightness of the bike. What I really noticed more than anything was the way the bike would jump up on stuff even though I wasnt really trying, 2 years on the fat lass may have forced me to try harder at everything I do so things may just feel alot easier once I swap. One of the first things I noticed when I had my first ride on 4rt ever was how t forces you to move your body alot more, I liked that so hope all the effort has paid off. I,m going to spend Saturday trying to find my spanners and socket set as I've not seen them much since having the 4rt and give them a good dusting off, from what Billy and Outlaw Dave have said I think the 200 route looks even more likely now, hope Doogle gets his next week so I can have a proper go. Let you all know how I get on with the 200 and how it gets up some of the Yennards big climbs and rocks

Here we go again then, Pretty sure I,m going to get one next few months but a few questions first as I,ve never ridden one yet? Are the 2010 bikes out yet? If not when are they due? Thinking of getting a 200 or 250, has anyone got a 200 and does it have enough power? Are there any essential mods to make it run at its best and I dont mean bling Whats the front and rear suspension like? Will the swing arm snap? Will the frame crack? Will the carb leak? Will I look abit gay on it after the 4rt? Sensible answers please Dad and Clarkey Just
  8. I hope Honda keep making them and if not bring out another 2 stroke which I think even if pricey would sell loads. I've had a 4rt for 2 years now and love riding it, its build quality is exceptional and has never ever let me down, first kick start everytime and runs sweet any time of the year. I've been busy this year so not managed to do as many events as I would have liked and no Nationals at all, the Mont has been a godsend this year as maintenance on the 4rt is a 3-5 min job. I hope to do alot of trials next year though and with the dreaded winter coming I,m eyeing up a 250 EVO for December onwards. I like many have struggled with grip on the Mont but only in certain conditions, if theres water about in the mud it grips like a tractor, great in the dry but real slippy going its a nightmare. You see less and less 4rt's at trials these days, yes price has a effect on that but also the reputation of lack of grip I think is its biggest downfall.

    Big Log

Cracking pic Ishy, just let a bit of p*** out looking at it, I,m terrible at heights must have been hard work getting up there let alone felling it in bits. My mate Steve in the next door workshops is a forestry contractor, he'd like that pic
  10. Mine has some very special parts as Gizza knows, reshaped bash plate that follows every contour of the crankcase, lightened bog bone, shortened bars, reshaped(ergonomic) front brake lever, titanium left hand mudguard bolt, red X Block tensioner , and last but not least technosel crankcovers stuck on by my good self, carbon look
  11. I,m not sure but I have a feeling Dabster had a little go on a TRW once? some young blokes bike from down this way? ah might be wrong
  12. Any better with the bike Dougie?

  14. Dougie, The tickover is on the right hand side of the bike as you sit on it just under the mudguard infront of the airbox, its a large slotted screw cant miss it. Its important to have the revs high on the Mont I think 1800 rpm which seems way to high when you first get on one, they start easier with high revs and much less likely to stall whilst running loaded rpm in turns etc. If its getting away abit then gear it down so it feels slower to ride. Make sure you have some slack in the throttle as the Mont doesnt like starting with any signs of a whiff of throttle and let the bikes fan kick in before you touch the throttle at all from cold. If you got a standard air filter and flame guard swap it for the Jitsie filter so you can get rid of the flame guard. I usually wash the oil out of a new Jitsie filter and re oil with a small amount of PJ1 filter oil. The Mont doesnt like oily filters and the Jitsie has too much from new. A nine tooth front sprocket works really well on the 4rt, it has loads of gearing range even with a big sprocket change like that, I,ve been running 9/42/43 past two years on mine and it will still go up just about any hill in first. Have fun they are great bikes
  15. Watched quite a few Novice riders today at the Yennards, most stop alot to look where to go next or before an obstacle, no they dont stop for long and balance but they do stop and I think they will be hit hard by the non stop rules if observed correctly. Also they stop alot when they dab or dont get over something, making them go at stuff they're really not ready for is going to end up in some big offs at the B and C route level down here. I've got no problem with going non stop but it does worry me for Novice riders and the lads who know nothing else.
  16. more likely to be a bit of dirt in it and not allowing it to shut the fuel off, whip the carby off and clean everything, i always did that with new bikes
  17. Theres the worst recession on for decades, the weathers been ****ing ****e and most Western Centre trials are pre enter, many like me cant pre enter a trial due to work or other commitments, i doubt its the stop rules
  18. The fuel needle is dirty or sticking letting fuel into the carb, could also be a sticky float but more likely needle
