  1. All has offs mate, part of the sport, to be honest coming off alot shows you are pushing yourself, start worrying when you ride all day without crashing. Good point about the lever ends, never ride with a bust one, you dont realise how many times you get hit with a ball ended lever in crashes untill its not there. I use a large guarded blade mitre saw alot in my job, a few years ago the guard bust and I cut my finger with 30 seconds of using it, hadnt realised my hand actually touched the guard untill it wasnt there.
  2. Must have nearly been classed as an enviromental disaster all those Betas in one location at one time, just thought,Heath wont be next to post saying mines never leaked
  3. Ah yer, forgot about the big day, come on then lads who had the last laugh?
  4. I did notice a couple of the top lads at our club on 125 shercs reving the nuts off the bikes up and down a track for quite a while to burn the stuff out. They do it everytime they finish practice or trials, cant say its the best or safest way but it obviously works for them. I remember at road trials on a two stroke giving it plenty would make it smoke fairish and the bike always ran its best at a road event.
  5. mine for the most part came off easy, try a stanley blade to scrape it off, maybe a little oil on it as you go, Just think you wont have to do it for months again
  6. Theres a small plate that holds the filter in place, little rectangle thing if i remember, make sure it goes back in the right place so look before you undue it to take the filter out, the filter 1 st time seems it will impossible to get out but a little twist and it frees no probs
  7. Did my gasket dry, there are clever little tags to hold it in place when putting it back on but check the seal after running it first time. Dont think I disconnected any wires to be honest just hung the case etc up with a cable tie. Case bolts didnt torque, if you feel one pushing out ya a*** your too tight, Ive only changed my filter once this year and its a 15 min job so no hardship, and I'm known for getting out on the bike once in a while
  8. how olds the bike and what makes you think its an import?
  9. Got to feel sorry for Xispa, about to launch a new bike in the worst economic climate for decades, I think they had been looking for investors a while ago must be bloody tough now. Hope they get the bike out in the shops and good luck to them Atom, you been looking at your Woolworths shares portfolio tonight?
  10. Stick something in there mate, it helps cushion big knocks from the plate to the crankcase. Ive got some thick rubber matting under my crankcase works better than the originals
  11. Ah good job as well Jimmy wasnt 100% on the superglue, tried some more temp stuff and its held 3 large helpings of trifle - two cooked meals - 7 chunks of toblerone and a big bag of revels so think its worked
  12. You'll probably need to change the gasket mate, not expensive and worth doing. Make sure beyond anything else the filter goes in the correct way or it will turn out to be a very expensive bit of maintenance. Ralph did his a while ago and it was easy just follow the manual word for word, did mine soon after and easy. Little tip cable tie the cover so it hangs out the way and doesnt put pressure on the wires, check the oil level after a few hours as the filter sucks up a fair bit. Dont forget to clean the credit card type filter as well bottom of the crankcase

    Chain Noise

could be the side of the chain hitting the footpeg bolts on the inside of the frame
  14. Right then, got two four tooth bridges in the front of my mouth from an argument with some concrete years ago, yesterday morning whilst gumming a particualry tough bit of mega block toblerone one of them fell out. Now i managed to get some of that temp crown cement stuff to lodge it back in but its not working very well (come unstuck twice yesterday and just now) anyone got any ideas? dentist shut next few days so no luck there and I look right bad at the best of times let alone with no front teeth. Considering superglue? but might bond it in there for ever and if they need to come out for any reason might mean jaw breakage to remove them. Any ideas would be great Yours that lad off Deliverence
  15. Dont think they're out yet, just looked on the site, the club sec email is Youbetrobinson@aol.com if you need to know
  16. Do a search on this forum for techno posts, just looked on Lampkin site and no info there on jets etc. Bike will still have compression if nipped up, if jets are clean and correct size as well as float height might be worth having a look at the piston and barrel
  17. As Feetup says the 4 stroke has a huge range of consistant revs on tap and long long gears, 1st for just about everything I ride
  18. not nipped up is it? wont get much or any spark from a ****ed stator. Are you 100% the float levels/jets are the correct size?
  19. Try the slow Monk, the 290 Sherco is a handfull at times, might be worth retarding the ignition as well
  20. If youve got a kill switch on the bike disconnect it then see if theres a difference, is the earth wire connected well and have you checked for any shorts in the system? best way to check is to run the bike in total darkness as they will easily be spotted if a wires exposed. Has the bike ever run ok? if so what have you done to it since if anything. Pretty sure a dodgy CDI will not even let the bike start
  21. man staggers into hospital with concussion, multiple bruises, two black eyes & a 5 iron wrapped tightly round his throat. doctor asks what happened to you? bloke says well i was playing golf with the wife when we sliced our balls into a field full of cows. i found one stuck in a cows fanny,so i yelled to the wife.... this looks like yours.. i dont remember anything after that
