re filter oil I dont use filter oil mate because non of my mates have ever said anything about it. I will quiz them on the subject and get back to you. Maybe Dougie can shed some light on the subject
cheers leggins
-
tell me about them leigh Ive had no end of problems with plugs over the summer .At one point I was replacing them nearly every week . I dont know if its the fact that the weather has cooled down and the bike isnt running as hot or wether backing the air screw off ! turn did the trick.
air filter oil blimey Ive never used any I just give the filter a good wash with fairy...... talking of which , where are you going to plug your fairy lights in dougie ? your gunner need a long extension cable mate
I went to buy some new snail cams yesterday as mine are shot.

hey up
next sundays the 12th. the trial is on the following sunday 19th , so theres still time to perfect my swan dives into a muddy stream . yeah i know who you are now dougie . you was sat in the corner when the buffet arrived ( manky chips n garlic bread mmmmmmmmmm !) I didnt stay till the end I made a quick getaway with mexican pete.
I had a bet with my mate that I would pay his entrance fee if he beats me at dovecilff, he was quaking in his boots I dont think he will even show, the big girl.
If you decide to go to dean head let me know what time and I will pop up. I dont know if I am going to the meeting this week as I might end up overdosing on excitement
cheers leggins

Narr then lad
By eck I was a that meeting too I didnt see you a tho , It must be the size of that room . That trial on the 19th is a Barnsley trial at Dovecliff woods, Not over taxing but still a good day away from Cruella da Ville. The last time I rode there I made a complete mess of two sections 5,s every lap . That was a shame as I did ok on the rest. I went out on Saturday afternoon and managed to bend my tail pipe not knowingly onto the rear tyre ( sounds daft wouldnt be the front tyre ) which has wore a hole in the pipe . Im sure Barry Bains will tell me to use sellotape to fix it
Thinking about going up to Dean Head next Sunday If I can talk my mate into it. I wouldnt want to get stuck down there in the stream on my own, I could be missing for weeks like a japaneese war vet. If you fancy a ride out sometime let me know as I need all the practice I can get
cheers leggins
p.s Off to the top house at stann now for a gargle

Hi Dougie
How about putting a side car on the Beta for the wife... bound to get you out more often . Are you going to the Peak classic at Hope on sunday ? I will be out watching the action again. Im hoping to get out for a couple of hours on saturday afternoon as I need all the practice I can get before my next comp on the 19th nov. Im aiming for a top 30 finish this time
cheers leggins

hi dougie
just make sure that you give Dave aspinall his plunger rod back as he is riding in the peak classic at hope next sunday..... haa haa
cheers leggins

hi leigh
no problem mate. you missed a good trial though . we had the likes of dan thorpe, chris pearson and lee sampson riding. maybe even dougie pumpkin too , although I havent heard from him yet . the weather was perfect and with two laps of 20 excellent sections what more could you ask for on any sunday. I didnt ride this year as my bike was not road worthy, but after seeing that I will be entering next years clubman route. ( so the afore mentioned riders need worry not... haa haa ). keep an eye out for upcoming hillsborough trials and get yourself entered. they really know how to stage a great event.

hi leigh
this sundays hillsborough trial is a road trial. the hillsborough club is well known for thier challenging trials so they are not for the faint hearted. if you have sat nav then use s6 6ae . this post code will get you to the road markers. if not then its m62 to m1 south to sheffield north juction 36. follow the A61 into sheffield. when you pass the sheff wednesday ground continue for 1/2 mile . turn rightn at pizza hut then follow signs for stannington (B6076 ) this will lead you to the road flags. The trial starts at 9,30 from dysons ( brick yard ) car park. good luck let me know how you get on.

p.s the regs are in this weeks t+ mx news

Hey up dougie.
Yes mate I did go on Sunday but I would have been better off staying in bed. I went out on saturday afternoon with a couple of mates and spent the whole afternoon throwing my bike in and out of a rock filled stream. Fantastic, this has got to be the most enjoyable time Ive had in ages. soaked to the skin and covered in mud I went home put the bike to bed got washed and changed then headed to the pub. several pints later i headed home . Thats where the fun ended. Got up late Sunday , just made the start ( with hangover ) nothing was going right had some major off,s . I made a right prat of myself.... Enough was enough I headed home to lick my wounds..........so lesson learned no beer before riding or better still no riding afer beer.. what did you get up too ? did you ride
cheers leggins
-
Get yourself up there on sunday mate. It should be quite a good trial. Ive never rode a trial here only had a ride around attempting the odd ( easy) section. This will be my 3rd trial since getting back into it this year so Im still pretty bad, But like yourself I am enjoying the sport.
If you decide to go let me know and Ill keep a eye out for you.

hi mate

Nice one Dougie tied the leaver and got my kit on hmmm. It worked a treat the clutch was freed almost right away. Well I can live with that mate. Had an afternoon of riding at bradfield with a mate. one section crossed the river .All well and good until I took a wrong turning in the water and ended in deep trouble, When I say deep it was the best part of 4ft deep. Dont know about yours but my Beta cant swim... After a struggle we managed to get it back to life with no apparent damage.
How was rochdale on sunday ?
cheers Leggins
p.s riding the hillsboro trial on sunday at dean head farm cant wait.

I packed my rev 3 exhaust today. I phoned lampkins who advised me to use approx half a bag of packing and not to ram the material in too hard. Must have taken me about 30 mins to do the job and a bag of packing material cost just

thanks for the advice . I rode in a trial today, The clutch freed its self after a couple of minuets and was fine for the rest of the day.It was quite funny when I put the bike in gear for the first time today I was off down the car park like a wolfsport boy ...... This clutch needs sorting Thanks again

When I start my rev 3 from cold the clutch dose not work properly until the bike is warm. I have been told that the plates need replacing . This is a job that Ive never done so if some kind person out there could give me some pointers or even better walk me through the operation. .
many thanks leggins

had a hell of a job starting my rev 3 today (20 ish kicks ) but when it did decide to go it ran the best its run since ive owned it. I used a mix of 75 to 5l of petrol this seems fine so far. before I did the carb mods on r2w,s web page I had all the beta problems i.e stalling when facing downhill , losing liquid gold by the bucket load when the bike was leaning over, constantly flooding etc etc i did the mods which took me 20 mins tops and hey presto what a differance its made. So if you havent done them get to work its well worth it.

My rev 250 has been causing me unwanted headaches. The last couple of times out I have had a hell of a job getting it started from cold. When it dose start it coughs and pops like a good un. The plug has been oiled up when removed. I am using a mix of 100 cc to 5L is this too rich ? When I replace the plug with a new one it seems to do the trick for a short while then its back to square one . My main concern is when the bike is ticking over it pops constantly unlike other rev 3s Ive listened too...... Any ideas ?
p.s I have done the carb mods on r2w ,s site

Re The cold clutch. My rev 3 takes off with me in tow hanging on for dear life when I put it in gear from cold much to the delight of my mates. After that it works fine. Nearly demolished the garden shed once
