  1. Hi I would say yes it is best to grease the bearings while you have the linkage apart. Marine grease is probably the best as it is suggests it is good for items used in water, as the linkage will be either while riding or getting washed
  2. give Gas Gas UK a shout, I got one for a 98 TXT last yr, poss still hyave some old stock
  3. totally normal, its called a floating disc
  4. Squeeze the clamp part with a pair of pliers and with a small screwdriver or bradle flick apart, then put them back on with the pliers, works every time
  5. One more piece of advice, be very careful in aligning the impeller shaft with the drive gear. It is important to get the bar into the slot correctly or you could snap the bar and need a new shaft or not get the two faces of the crankcase and the clutch cover sealed and forever suffer leaks
  6. Creamy oil equals seal issue on water pump shaft, best to replace shaft and seals at the same time as the shaft wears and then rips new seals when you put them in chuck the centre bolt (small allen head) for the basket. When the cover is back on the piston holds the fingers in and the basket cant come out or off, did this a while back to an 06. given that the bike was dumped in mud you might have slipped the ignition a bit, again i broke 3 kickstarts and it turned out the issue was the bike was firing just shy of correct band the bike was kickin back like a mad mule and causing the breakages also would suggest giving Kev at GasGasUK a bell, if he doesnt know what the problem is no one will
  7. it should not matter what yr bike you have all parts between 02 and 08 are interchaneable to the best of my knwledge, they did change from 2 piece to 1 piece middle and end cans late in that cycle, but it still had the same mounting points
  8. looks the biz Dale, health to ride, if you ever think of moving it on let me know
  9. ALL Gas Gas pro clutches rattle until you pull the lever, the fingers that work the clutch plates are what rattle That being said I bought a 2010 300 off Shirty that was once Dibs' bike and there is no rattle whatsoever, I am putting that down to the fact "Kev" had the bike set up proper for Dibs, but as I said in previous post rattles when you are not pulling the lever are normal
  10. you dont say what bike you have, if its a Gas Gas that is normal if its not then it sounds like you might have chipped a tooth on ths clutch basket when the kickstart problem occurred, as long as there is no bits of the kickstart gear or chips off the teeth floating about it should be ok
  11. If they are anything like the bones on a Gas Gas you could push them out with the new ones gently or you could use a socket the same size as the bearing case, used both methods before although they would need to be free if your using the new case to push in case you deform it Best to fill the bearings with good quality grease before rebuilding too
  12. Great debate has progressed here but you should all be aware of the fact that here in Northern Ireland a licence is
  13. I had a 350 version that had a similar problem and it turned out after a lot of expensive trys to be the 3 pin connector in the wiring under the tank. When the bike got warm this expanded and broke the connection between both parts of the loom until it cooled and contracted allowing the electrics to work best thing to do was to cut both and wire direct, worked perfect after that
  14. If your bike is a pro - ie from 2002 on I dont think it will fit, the pre 2002 bikes had calipers that sat on top of the swingarm where the 2002 on sit behind the swingarm and in front of disc
  15. according to Caroline Sandiford she is about 41st
  16. Your front should not be leaking at all unless you have nipped the tube putting the front tyre back on, it may just be forcing whats left between the tyre and tube. Did you slacken the security bolt before taking the old tyre off, it should be pushed almost back into the rim so that the edges catch the rims of the tyre and pull them home when you pump it up. After that you can lock the nut off and another tip is to leave a bit of play in the valve lock nut to allow the valve a bit of movement. As for the back the best bet is take the tyre of and by a tube of good quality silicone or sicoflex that is used around car windows, clean the area where the rim tape bites into the rim to make sure they are clean and then dab the top of each spoke and around where the valve goes. Get the tape back on and seated and run a bead around each side where it seats into the rim. Put the tyre back on and get her back out on the beads and put about 60 = 80 psi in for an hour or so, this puts pressure onto the tape which in turn forces the goo around the spoke nipples thereby sealing each nipple. This should sort you out
  17. There is 1 on ebay at the mo but it is up around
  18. From memory the 4 thinner ones are either side of the dog bones and between them and the mounts and the thicker 2 are for the main bolt. Best way I found was to do 1 dog bone at a time and then you did not mix them up or get them the wrong way round
  19. dont cut the silencer at all just drill out the 4 pop rivets and remove the end take out the baffle and remember which way it came out get a bag of silentsport or similar from gas gas uk or local if you can put the baffle back in the right way and pack the stlentsport around it you should use 2/3 of the bag for 1 fill as this geives the correct fill then put some in the end piece and put back on with pop rivets
  20. If you can still get gears it sounds like 1 of the following problems 1 the "top hat" on the clutch side is broken or 2 the small aduster directly behind the clutch basket is broken or needs adjusted - very hard to get the exact positioning too much 1 way and you will get gears on the up and too much the other way and you will get them on the down either way laying the bike on the left and removing the clutch cover and basket will show this worst case scenario is that you have damaged the tiny springy clips in the actual box although it doesnt sound so and if it is its engine out and split - 8 times on my first 02 pro in 1 season really the best thing to do is ring Shirtys and ask to speak to Kev or Luke for their advice - he doesnt shout or swear no matter how often you ring or stupid your question is - or maybe he makes allowances for being Irish!
  21. Amazing action especially the Eddy stuff it would be great if you could source and post some of our best in the 80's at similar
  22. as said it really depends what you feel best on i would say Gas Gas 300 is a fab bike have you still got your Ossa? and if so was the 80 the yellow gripper 350 or the orange 250
  23. They also had a problem with the gear box which meant that they jumped out of gear - just as you were half way up a steep climb usually!!!!!!
  24. Just a short update The Honda was recovered a few days ago dumped in a laneway with a bit of damage nothing serious the wheels had been removed and were close by the other bikes are still missing so keep the pressure on and be wary of any cheap deals cheers
  25. As some of you may be aware through the great press coverage here in Northern Ireland some lowlifes broke into the garage at the Turkingtons home late Saturday night early hours of Sunday morning below are the details of the bikes stolen. as you can see some are fairly unique and should stand out hopefully by making as many people aware of the theft as possible it will make it extremely difficult for the theives to move the bikes on and maybe help in getting them back Early hours of Sunday morning we had 7 bikes stolen from our bike shed: 2008 125 Gas Gas (my bike) for those who have seen it will know its very disitinctive-black wheels, Gas Gas UK team sticker kit, carbon fibre swing arm protectors, titanium pipe, dellorto flat side carb etc. 2007 125 Gas Gas-again Gas Gas UK team sticker kit, titianium pipe. There was no front brake on it inc. master cylinder and brake pipe. 2008 Honda CR250F mx bike-basically standard with no. 900 on it. 2006 Suzuki RM250F mx bike-very distinctive bike, TAS suzuki sticker kit, gold Talon wheels, wavy disks, ex Adam Lyons bike, no. 3. This can't be missed as it is the only one since it was built for Lyons. The seat was not on the bike and there was no air filter in it. 2004 Thumpstar pit bike-blue anodized back wheel and gold anodized front wheel, black plastics. 2 mini motos-1 green with kawasaki stickers and no. 259 with 'Shaun' on visor. 1 yellow with Gas Gas stickers and no. 1 with 'Sasha' on visor. If anyone is made aware of any of these either phone Police at Castlereagh (02890650222) or contact us (02890449194) (07733402290) thanks for looking
