  1. For a bike like the Beamish you'll need Renthal 7/8" trials bars. Either 735-01 which have a 5.5 inch rise or 735-02 which have a 6 inch rise(dependent on how tall you are). A lot of sidecar drivers will cut a lot of length off the right hand side of the bar to give more clearance for trees and other such things. On my own outfit the right hand side has been cut down by an inch & a half. On the left I have one and one half grips fitted so that I can move my hand in towards the centre when turning right or needing to get my weight over to the right. I hope this helps.
  2. On my Beta Evo 300 outfit I use a 11/42 set up that is about what most solo riders around here use. Looking at the Talon Engineering web site http://finder.talon-eng.co.uk/products/tg376520/?tpf_manufacturer=35&tpf_model=430&tpf_year=1639&bikes_category=front-sprockets&bikes_subcategory=standard they do a 43 tooth 520 pitch rear sprocket and fronts from 10 up to 14 teeth for the RL325. So try 12/43 and see how you get on. If you find it over geared you can always drop down to a 10 tooth front and take a link out of the chain if need be.
  3. I fitted an S3 one on my sons 2013 300 2 stroke, as it was such a pig to kick over. It had loads more compression than my 2014 300 2 stroke and he had just moved up from a 125 at the time. It softened the power down a little. But as we had a full Bossi Arrow exhaust to fit we weren't that bothered.
  4. Have you tried Talon Engineering? they made me some great one off sprockets. http://www.talon-eng.co.uk/contact-us/
  5. Before you start knocking on the hub try another bearing. It is always possible that you have got an undersized one. With the amount of counterfeit rubbish coming in from China and other far eastern country's it's worth double checking. I have even had bearings from a reputable suppler that were listed and packaged as SKF turn out to be forged rubbish.
  6. I was asked about youth riders and the EM. With the power specs put out be Electric motion, as far as it looks to me they are to powerful to meet the current ACU limit for both A & B classes of 10 bhp as measured at the back wheel. But I would love to get one on a dynamometer to check though.
  7. Fitted them to my Model 49 Sherpa. Totally transformed the clutch action and made it a pleasure to ride.
  8. Look Here. http://www.beta-uk.com/images/stories/spares-pdfs/2008/rev250-270frame.pdf
  9. About the nearest manual to your year is this one. http://www.sherco.com/tl_files/core/pdf/manuels/2009MaintenanceManual_ST2T.pdf Took me 30 seconds to find by doing a Google search for Sherco user manual.
  10. Getting hold of a new Ossa or Gas Gas is going to be hard and what is going to be the situation with parts in years to come? That basically leaves you Beta, Sherco and Scorpa 125's and for me it would have to be the Beta. An engine & gearbox that has been well proven over the years. Great spares backup here in the UK from a company (John Lampkin imports) that has been with the brand for years. My own lad came up on a 2011 Evo and we never had a days trouble with it. He now rides a 2013 300 Evo and I have a 2014 Evo outfit.
  11. I made them! Having spent many years working in the merchant marine (mostly on sailing vessels) canvas, rope and needlework are something I can turn a hand to. Anyone used to making boat covers would have no problem making something similar.
  12. Sean65, If you have a drop plate, just go for the standard Dave Cooper rack for your Discovery 2. With the big rear bumper the tow point is far enough back that the bike has clearance on the spare wheel. I used to have one on the back of a Discovery 1. This is the setup I have on the back of my Land Rover 110. One solo across the back and a trailer that can carry two outfits. The rack has been turned so the front wheel is to the left and I have added another bar (supports the chair) so that I can also carry a sidecar outfit on it's own like this. I have driven thousands of miles with the outfit on the rack with no problems.
  13. As a new bike get the dealer who supplied it to have a look at it. Maybe the selector mechanism wasn't set up properly in the factory. If you're in the UK and have no joy with the dealer talk to Beta UK. I have always found John very helpful. http://www.beta-uk.com/
  14. Another top 10 finish for Jack this weekend! 12th yesterday and 9th today in Sweden.
  15. Been awhile since I posted on here. But just to update I switched my chair onto a 2014 Beta Evo 300 last year. I have also put together two more outfits this year. Both for customers and both on 2015 Beta Evo 300s If you're looking for someone to put one together for you. Just ask!
  16. I use NFU Mutual to insure all my bikes/outfits, cars, house. Actually virtually everything in my life including my life. I love the fact that you make first contact with them and then someone from the local office calls YOU! Is just down the road and is then your adviser and point of contact. Price is competitive and a good level of cover is given.
  17. Chalk & cheese mate. Tech boots are for Motocross and will have a smooth sole. No Stop trials boots have a very grippy sole that looks like it's covered in squid suckers. Try dabbing in a slippery stream section with MX boots and you'll soon find yourself sitting on your backside.
  18. About 100% or bloody stiff is the technical term I think you're after. Give Ian at JAM Sport a call. He will sort you out.http://www.jamsport.co.uk/contact-us-2-w.asp
  19. Is this the sort of thing you're on about? It's fitted to a Yamaha TYZ outfit.
  20. Calling all sidecar crews! The Norfolk & Suffolk group are again running the popular East of England charity trial on the 21st June 2015. But this time will be including sidecars on two routes. The venue is The Trials Park, Corton, Suffolk, NR32 5LE. Situated between the seaside towns of Gt Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Camping is available at the venue over the hole weekend. We have a small but strong sidecar following within the Eastern Centre. But would love to see a good entry of crews to show off the skills of sidecar trials to a new group of trials enthusiasts.
  21. In-Motion/Bultaco UK have the ones for the 247s.http://www.inmotiontrials.com/product/amal-mk1-flanged-carb-inlet-rubber-2/ But you don't actually mention which montesa you have.
  22. Look on the righthand side of the main page of this website. They are a site sponsor of Trials Central.
  23. I've just managed to insure my two Beta Evo 300s for the road(one a 2013 solo and the other a 2014 with sidecar) and my daughters quad and an Oset 20" for theft only. All through NFU Mutual for £170.00 for the year. I have used them for a few years now for my house, truck and caravan insurance and always had great service and good prices. But the one thing I love is the fact that you speak to someone just down the road who knows the area and is available if you have any queries/problems. Not some numpty sat in front of a computer in a boiler room in some unknown city, who you will never be able to talk to again. Maybe I'm just an old fashioned old fart. But I like to know who I'm doing business with.
  24. For trials on early Bultaco sherpa go for 40 Lb./ inch springs unless you are over 16 stone. on the later type Sherpa with the lower shock mount moved up the swing arm you may be better off with the 50 lb./inch springs. Have a chat with Robin Packham at Falcon shocks http://www.falconshockabsorbers.co.uk/ he's very helpful and knows his stuff.
  25. All the Osets have a shed load of engine braking, all very hard to push.
