  1. Give Greens Motorcycles in Beccles, Suffolk a try. They have done machining for me in the past (bushing brake plates, turning axles, spacers and rebores). Not only do the Greens love building bikes but also love rebuilding traction engines. http://www.greensmotorcycles.com
  2. Have you looked here?http://amalcarb.co.uk/carbspec/carburettor/spares/id/4948/
  3. Doesn't look like it's been listed on the ACU's event page. http://www.acu.org.uk/events/default.aspx. But that doesn't mean it's not still happening.
  4. Give these a try. They cover my bikes. http://www.msminsurance.co.uk/ Including my sidecar outfits.
  5. Sounds like blocked pilot jet. It could be as simple as a drop or two of water in the float bowl. If I was you I would strip the carb and clean it out, blow through all the jets and passages and make sure all is spotlessly clean.
  6. A 270 would be fine pulling a chair. I've had one on a 250 Evo and now have it on a 300. The 300 is a much smother & stronger engine, but the 250 was fine. You will need to fabricate a sub- frame for the front & rear of the bike. Front to spread the load and the rear one for the passenger to hold/use for putting their weight on.
  7. Sweet looking job you've done there David. Now go and enjoy it in the mud!

    Evo Fuel Filter

Fuel tap is the same part number (2779951 000) for ALL 2 stroke Evo's Except the 80's. So YES!

    Evo Fuel Filter

Didn't your Beta importer replace it on warranty? Must say that here in the UK, John Lampkin imports have always been very helpful with all the Beta's I have owned.

    Evo Fuel Filter

There is a plastic filter gauze fitted to the top end of the tap, in the tank. Well worth dropping the tap out and giving it a clean after the first few months use. I got my 2014 300 at three months old, after it had been ridden to twelfth place in the SSDT. One of the first things I did was drop the tap out and give the filter a clean. You will be surprised how much cr-p will be on it.
  11. This Miller framed 325 is currently on ebay UK claiming frame number 719. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bultaco-sherpa-sammy-miller-hiboy-325-twinshock-trials-plus-spares-classic-/361007236072?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item540db543e8
  12. Practice, Practice, Practice! That's all you can do. I'm constantly swapping back and forth between bike's with the rear brake on the left and right side and find it takes about half an hour to settle in. Usually just after I have scared the SH-T out of myself on a big down hill section.
  13. Hi Paul, Have a look at the threads "Plans for a Sidecar" there is a link to some plans and spec's and "Another new outfit" loads of photos of my second sidecar build. Best of luck on your build.
  14. I normally just stand in the chair for the first start up of the day! Makes it nice and easy!
  15. We've just switched from a 2011 Beta Evo 250 to a 2014 Evo 300. I find that the new 300 does take a bigger kick and a bit more respect as it's more likely to kick back if you pussy foot it. But saying that it still starts first or second kick, hot or cold. Great Bikes the Evo's
  16. On my son's 2011 and my 2014 they are hex! Same size as the filler plug.
  17. Not Normal, It's been a few years since my lad was on one. But as far as I remember the steel clutch plates are available in different thicknesses and the bite point is adjusted by varying the pack thickness.
  18. It's before 2011. I.E 09 or 10 as it has only the one fixing bolt for the rear frame arms (under seat area, to support air box) 2011 on have two bolts per side. Also 2011 was the first year that Beta did a 300 as a "factory" special and from 2012 both the standard and "factory" special where 300 cc.
  19. I learnt a lesson that day I can tell you! I went at that bank a bit too slowly and we started to slide to the right. So I dabbed. BIG MISTAKE! Here is a link to my youtube page. Haven't actualy got a clip of that insident ( was taken down because if the swearing) but loads of over mistackes as Debbie and I try to lurn the black art of sidecar trials. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcWYVK524qvTXrnxiY-eXYg/videos
  20. According the the Bultaco UK manual I have, it should by 9:1. But I can't vouch for how specific it is as it says that it covers all 5 speed's. If you ring Dave at Bultco UK 01784 440033 ( very friendly & helpful) I'm sure he will give you all the info you could need.
  21. Don't know of a specific guard for the right hand side of the pipe. But I know exactly what you mean about the pipe on the 250. This is me and the wife and that is me about to burn the inside of my right knee( It even left skin stuck on the pipe) the cooking smells kept me think about the burger van until the end of the trial.
  22. Hi Steve, Welcome! Two place's come to mind for riding/practice in the Essex/Suffolk area. Poles wood, Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood, Essex. (It's run as a club as far as I know and probably best to contact Southend & D Mcc for info) The Trials Park,http://www.trialspark.co.uk/ It's just north of Lowestoft, Suffolk, It has some great stuff to ride from beginner right up to world contender level. Open every day of the week at £10.00 per rider and even has a camping ground if you fancy making a weekend of it.
  23. Very nice bike. I love those slim-line tanks (Kit Campeon)
  24. They should be fine on a 125. My own lad started on his Beta evo 125 at 12 years old. looked a bit like a pimple on a camels behind to start with but very quickly grew into it.
