Had a similar problem with my daughters beta 125 06 adjustment on the mixture screw and a jet kit sorted it for normal use but had problems when leaving the bike to warm up on tick over. Spoke to lampkins and they explained the 125s don't like being left on tick over for long they get bogged down and will stop with the result of being a bugger to start again, usually needing at least one clean plug change. The advice was to warm up by blipping the throttle (not revving the nuts off though). It also misbehaves if she leaves the petrol on after washing etc and it sits in the garage for any length of time same symptoms same cure. It seams that

The open throttle method can work, demonstrated today whilst out on a practice day. Guy kicking over his new 07 Repsol and swearing at it. So suggested he held the throttle wide open and kicked it over gentle once (i.e. not a 2 stroke stab) then try kicking over again with his hand off the throttle completely (he had been doing this when the bike wouldn't start with no successe) the bike started straight away. So fluke or not it worked on that occasion and I would swear blind it's had an effect when I've had a bit of agro starting mine. Don't know if I've got a mechanical/electrical problem with mine but it can be difficult to start sometimes especially after being stalled and or in gear. Thought it was just bad technique on my part but if you guys had no agro on an 05 but now have agro on 2 07 repsols and then add a poss 2 others wonder if something is different??

It was a few years back but I bought a modified (lengthened) actuating arm of the worm assembly I am sure from birkets but cold be wrong. Fitted it with a new cable and original levers, (longer than many after market ones and quite close to the bars) very light no problems with both of my children. Didn't bother to drill a new hole in the case but it would have been a better job. When ever the clutch started to get a bit stiff striped the worm assembly and regreased and lubed the cable and normal service was resumed. Don't think I removed any clutch springs can't really remember but wouldn't have a problem with trying it as have deff removed two on the Fantic which makes quite a difference with no noticeable side effects (had the bike since new so it's been missing springs for years). Let us know how you get on.

Wonder if the air filter is blocking up in some way??? The only time I have had trouble starting mine was after cleaning and re-oiling the air filter after the 1st ride out/run in. With the air filter out the bike started and ran fine. As soon as I dropped it in with the flame guard the bike stopped and wouldn

Silicone dashboard/cockpit shine from your local automotive supplier or halfords if you wont to pay loads for it works well, spray it on count to 20 and polish. Nice and shiny and stays like it until the next wash. Don't get it on the brakes though

Don't buy an IRIS they snap a lot Read the thread titled, Chains, Wd40 & All That in mechanical talk for more info. I've always been told and used 102 links on trials bikes.

Have you had the injector out and checked the 'o' ring is there, ok and hasn't let any water past? Unlikely but worth a look. Check the connector is seated properly and is clean and dry. Don

Best bet is to get hold of a copy of the manual it takes you through it step by step, but it is relatively straightforward. One thing I can add as a idea is to use a piece of 1 1/2 waste pipe (from a plumbers merchant) as a drift to seat the new seal, it works a treat.

:agree:
I've used Everbuild premium PU40 one part polyurethane sealant same stuff as sikaflex just different brand, don't use silicone it ant no good. Had to hunt around for it but a trade counter dealing in engineering, automotive or marine should be able to help. Good luck

Mine came with the maps programed that I requested mild and standard, then was emailed with an updated mild map free of charge. just saved the file with the .e2p filename and works fine. Had a load of agro converting from USB to serial using a USB to serial adaptor seems that some work and some don't get lucky with the right one and it works fine. If your comjputer dosen't work they will program them for you by return.
The switch works mid section. Have mine on Fat Bars just by the side of the left hand grip, cable tied the wire to the clutch cable then bought under the master cylinder to fit between the grip and the lever clamp. peace of cake to switch with me thumb whenever. I've been puzzeling over why I can only read the last map programed looks like thats the way it is.

Use the recommended Elf HTX740 it works! The clutch on our bikes releases straight away when cold, even the old Fantic. There was some going cheap on ebay, it's in the old style metal tins rather than the new smart plastic but it's is a lot cheaper than normal.

Put some new clutch plates in, I got mine from Steve Goode, I had a new kickistart as well as mine was a bit worn and then take out two of the clutch springs from opp sides of the basket so the plates seperate evenly and the clutch will be much lighter. Works fine been doing it for years (since the bike was new). Loads of people used ATF in the 80s I never did can't remember what I did use then, but use ELF HTX 740 in all the bikes now. It's expensive but works like no other IMHO (no drag or sticking even when cold). Enjoy.

Q1.
The thottle bodies look he same apart from a different part numbers, for non programable 1 map and 2 map. However the software discs are different and the 1 map software will not work for the 2 map and vice versa so I've been told, though not tried it myself.
Q2.
Remove the header pipe and header to muffler leave in final muffler restrictor ( to nosey without) but others will advise differently. Try with all in, then remove one at a time until you find the way you like it. If you take out the header to muffler restrictor order a gasket 1st you will be very lucky to remove the middle restrictor without destroying the gasket (unless any Genius out there has a handy hint?)
Q3
Don't know.
Q4
I'd say not you would have to open up the sealed black box to see whats inside with a good chance of rendering it US if you did. Best to make friends with someone who has the wiring loom and bribe them with beer.

Thanks for the replys.
Recon I was looking at the VGA external monitor port, Dooooooo...!!! So have to go down the USB- Serial root. FF mentions the USB port has to be powered for the adaptor to work, this could be a big clue as I had the USB plugged into one of the ports at the back of the computer when I discovered how to check which comms port I was connected to and guess the most logical place for a powered port is at the front. How do I check wether the port is powered or not? Apart fron waiting for the children to visit with thier USB ipod charger.
Desk top in the garage Naaa. Bike in the house much more toastie, but a cracking idea!

I'm having some agro getting my laptop to communicate with the PTB and wondered if any of you very kind technically gifted (is that enough flattery) citizens can point this idiot in the right direction. Keep getting the error message "ECU CANN'T BE SHIFTED TO DATA TRANSMITTION MODE" when trying to read or write data. The set up is 2 map throttle body with 2 map software. Laptop with a female RS232C serial port (is this unusual) as the wiring harness also has a female connection, It aint gona fit. So bought a USB to serial adaptor (

Glad I read this topic was going to buy an iris gold trials chain, will now raid the pennies jar for the extra tenner and buy a renthal or DID.

Wide feet so it don't sink into the lawn when you are washing the bike. Both wheels up and a tray/shelve that flips/slides out to keep tools or bits of the floor whould be good. Some kind of hook/strap to stop the bugger tipping /sliding off when you take one of the wheels out, and all for under a tenner good luck with the project.

Can recommend the falcons, have them on the fantic, Robin at falcons knows his stuff and can match spring rates etc to the size of your waist. Best to call pm, he use to switch on the answer machine in the mornings to get some work done. 01929 554545 (I think)
