  1. Was it put back correctly. It only goes together one way. The finger tower has a notch in it and the pressure plate has an aligning mark.
  2. Wd 40 will totally destroy your pads.
  3. The bite point should be farther out. The lever should never touch your other fingers. You never mentioned what your riding?
  4. I too enjoy using wd40. But I always cover my brakes. Funny how the cause of bike issues always slowly comes out in these threads.
  5. No, the whole thing rides to low to the ground.
  6. P.s. dont be shy, heat them up and douse them good!
  7. You just ride around a few minutes with that brake locked on almost skidding. Almost ends up like a steam clean. First time I ever say it done was Tommi Avala came to do a trials school/demo. Pulled a new bike out of a crate and FIXED the brakes in a few minutes.
  8. I guess you have never used the water trick. Which is the best way to get your brakes working in just a few minutes. Just over heat your rotors and hit them with a bucket of water. Instant sharp brakes.
  9. Ineresting project. But you missed the boat with no ground clearance.
  10. I would never spray my pads with anything. Throw a new set on.
  11. The 250 Beta is a very mellow machine. Much better first bike than the 300 TRS. The bike in the best condition is usually the better buy no matter the price. It will last longer and you will be riding instead of waiting for parts.
  12. I bought a set awhile back. Finally mounted them and only had a marginal ride. The rear does act weird as it does not roll over at all. Seemed to grip ok. 2 weeks and we will have a 2 day event. I will know much more then. My first thought was why did I try this, as I already had spare Michilens. They might actually hold a line better. Worst thing is I also had brand new Sidi's on which really hurt my FEEL.
  13. I always ran atf. All hydraulic in the 97 was dot 4. One of my favorite bikes.
  14. When we had a leak, the black plastic appeard to have been the cause. Time well spent!
  15. Are you sure the engine has fuel?
  16. Tip, small amont of soap to water. It hardly takes any moisture to work. Wipe excess right away. Just did stickers Sunday.
  17. Really, you guys are replying to a 4 year old post? Lol
  18. Chances are your 1986 is not a TLR but a Reflex. You should have counted the links and a trials bike should not use an o-ring chain.
  19. People usually rent the brand they ride. LOL Amazing the come back KTM has had with TXT range. The new 2025 models look awesome. And they don't plow.
  20. The steel fork tube story came from the importer. Not me. But I have a theory why only 9% of the riders in this years Scottish are on a TRRS!
  21. My son loved his Beta 4T. We ride from 2500 ft to 13000 ft elevation. So alot of jetting is required. Carb work is a bitch on the Beta 4 stroke, besides the manifold rubber breaks alot. When he got rid of his TRRS (which he bought, since I talked him into it) and fancied a return to a 4 stroke Beta he eneded up with a Montesa 300 RR.
  22. Take a look at the bike count at this years Scottish for your answer of which bike to ride. Myself if all I rode was wet, it would be a 2 stroke Beta 250. The 4 stroke works well too. Beta 87 Gas Gas 2nd with 47 Vertigo 47 Montesa 30 Scorpa 27 TRRS 26 Sherco 24 P.S. I really love my Montesa. But we ride big dry rocks most of the time. If I ever change brands again it would be a Beta.
  23. At least the wheels and forks, which include the calipers and triple tree. If you plan on keeping the bike forever, I always antisieze the spoke nipoles too. Sounds xtreme until you start breaking spokes.
  24. Phbl is probably the easiest. And it is actually better in some ways than the PWK. Otherwise you will need different connections. Air box to carb and maybe intake. Hopefully someone that has done it will chime in. We are talkining a 3 decades old design.
