  1. If what your burning looks like crap, well it`s crap. I learned years ago all oil is not the same. Ran Bel Ray since I got it at distributor price. Then got to see motors stripped down. What an eye opener! Most are ****. Clean is clean. Good luck.

    oil change

The hex nut is the detent for the shift drum. Good call b40rt. !!!
  3. Also depends on if it is a real TLR or just a pretty reflex.
  4. Used to be a thread on here using a computer fan. Best bet would be a used fan with the shroud. Preferably off a trials or small kids bike. Good luck
  5. Nothing wrong with the stock pegs. But you can cut the mounts off and weld new mounts on that fit the modern pegs. If you are just riding vintage events, you are just wasting time and money. Ride it more and figure out the bike. It just has to be ridden aggressive.
  6. Been a long Winter already, Jonny?
  7. https://www.montesa.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/2018-COTA-300RR-OSM-EN.pdf Both my 301 and my sons 300 go behind the bars. As do the ten 4rt`s we have at work. I think we have only ever replaced one of the 2006 models throttle cable.
  8. That was last years news and I am across the pond!
  9. Toby has to be so pumped beating Bou by a point tonight! Big deal, so it was not a world round A win is a win!
  10. On the pro it could be many things. What year are you talking about? It could be as simple as the top hat is bad all the way to broken gears or bearings on the gear shafts. Usually when the bart gear starts loosing pieces it does not lock up, but sounds like a rod knock. But yes, best to pull it apart. My son went over the bars in my front yard and strangely enough the chain wrapped around the front sprocket. I split the motor the next morning. 2 gears fell out! Good luck. You got any help?

    Spoke angles

Spokes are usually in groups of 4. Thats mine in December 1974.
  12. Funny, I went back to the short lever. All is well being I am short too Worst thing is I had it in my spares all along!
  13. No, I am saving all my original parts for when I sell it.
  14. The boy had a bad grounding problem. Take apart any electrical and clean up. All the bolts on the magneto if you can get the flywheel off. Just clean anything you can get to.
  15. Yeah,my little boy is about 104kg and 6ft 6. He moves his 300rr like its a toy. He just loves his 300, but hates my 301. Its too quick for his style.
  16. I have given 4 suggestions. And you cannot even figure out its the wrong carb. Good luck, find a friend.
  17. At 18 years old, the Montesa would not have been my first choice. It`s a fine bike. Well built and very planted can do everything, but is heavy. No matter what anyone says. And I ride an amazing 301. Still heavy. But at 64 it makes me smile every time I let it rip!
  18. First off that is not the stock carb. That vent line, does it have a hole in the middle? If not cut iy in half, its not venting. Take the carb apart and blow contact cleaner threw that hole to verify.
  19. Is the cable holder in the top of the slide missing, out of place letting the needle to move freely?
  20. I have no clue what that is, but that bike has the wiring run wrong. That is why it is so twisted looking. I would turn that adjuster back a full turn counterclockwise and start it again. I leave my bike running just above 2000 rpm`s.
  21. The 4T has it`s own throttle. You want more power buy an arrow exhaust and use the clutch! P.S. Its a vacuum style carb. Like a street bike.
  22. Did you ride it and it started leaking. The seals should only leak from the worn bushes while actually doing something. Are you sure you got the levels right? /
  23. Teather switches are all over ebay, amazon. The better ones are on racing sites. I use one that I bought for this purpose in 1996, but never opened the package till 2016. Its a ATV racing one made in Sweden. Our national rules have been revised as its has to be a teather that kills the motor. Nothing about being a magnet or being strapped to the wrist. I prefer it attached to my pants buckle. No stupid 5's this way. I have seen the magnet fly off just by a hard hit. That would be reason enogh other motorsports never adopted the magnet. Dangerous as crap at speed.
