  1. Andy, One for thing, do you mind If I can copy one or two of your photos to send to The Sun along with the letter, they proberbly wont print the photos, but at least they can get an idea of whats happening. HRC
  2. I would pick another paper, but you know how it is, cant send it to a bike paper, because everyone rides and is trying to do what were doing, cant send it any of the fancy-a*** papers like The Observer because it for businessy types who dont give a crap about us anyway. The Sun is for the everyday Joe Bloggs..The ones we need, the ones who care. HRC
  3. I understand that the pikies and youth riders just ride anywhere, this is so true. Where I live I have one massive field to practice on, unfortunatly so does everyone else who has an engine and wheels. There is also a very big 'white path' as its called that runs from each field and is about a 2 miles long. Its NOT a path however, it is a road. Other kids have the bikes, from an estate at the opposite end of the field, and they dont give a s**t and just fly around anywhere they can get grip, ruining it for everyone else. They ride near people with dogs, near children, near cars and houses and it pi**es me right off. It may be because they DO NOT competite, and dont understand that the ammount of practice spots is falling because of them, and everyone gets tarred with the same brush, because of them. It is that the do not care for there 'sport' (many ride on Honda Expresses with plates ripped off for proper off-road use...you know how it is) and they dont understand what they are doing. Only the police can sort them out...but the police dont and wont understand. HRC2002
  4. Like when Dougie appeared on 'You Bet!' he had to go off a small kicker and onto a big box and people with 3 celebrates took bets on if he could do it or not. We did it and many of the audience and about2 of the celebs voted 'No' that he couldn't do it...he did it. This was when he was riding for Beta and it was in 1998/7. He did have a short convertsation with Richard Turner about trials such as 'What is the best age to start?' 'Is it easy to learn?' 'Whats with the bike with no seat?' and he also asked about Dougie and how he got started. I think what where looking for is a modern day version of this. The presenters always, always ask the same questions like 'wheres the seat?' and this gives Dougie to show what he can do and also gives him a change to express how he got to where he is. HRC
  5. Ok, Im off out later, but when I get back Ill start my letter and finish it tommorow aswell as posting it on here to see if you guys like it and to see if any ajustments. HRC
  6. I've desided it would be a good idea to write a letter to The Sun newpaper, read by the public and if interesting enough we can get it printed...all over the UK. A good way to persuade people? However we cannot just write in complaining about the usual stuff like the amount of riders slimming and things like that, we need to state that the BBC are tight fisted people and refuse to take any notice on what is such an interesting and skillful sport. Although if we are going to do this I need some ideas from you guys, list below for me some things you can write about, and is it worth doing this letter? Many Thanks, HRC
  7. Just thought I'd post this..Its a letter someone wrote in to The Sun newspaper (02/12/03). --- MEAN BBC ARE JUST BEING BAD SPORTS "HOW can the BBC not shell out the money to show film of Jonny Wilkinson's winning goal when he is expected to be voted their Sports Personality of the Year? The fee of
  8. This may well be a useless idea, but I have contacted Men And Motors and Eurosport GB to see if they can give us some TV ratings of Motorcycle Trials when they show it. If we can get the results in, we can use them to try and persuade the BBC, however the rating we will hopefully get will be VERY little compared to the ones BBC recieve for a programme. But hey, its worth a try. HRC.
  9. I have e-mailed them before...with no replies..ba**ards! You lot pay your TV lisences (Some of you?) and you should deserve to see your sport mentioned, as the BBC once used in an advert 'Its your BBC...You decide what goes on it'....bull$hit Thanks, HRC
  10. My Dad prints off a lot of Photos, we have the Epson Stylus C62, not sure how much, but never lets us down. Always working and the photo prints ARE immaculate. However you must use Photo Quality Paper if you want a good photo, which is about
  11. Hey Welsh, you find anything?
  12. Wonder why the 'others' aren't coming, ishy put the link on, although have you noticed the number of posting on Trials Action has dramaticaly gone down. Ahh, I'll miss the TA...Kind of. Andy, Can we have the 'useless' Chistmas Lights up this year, like on TA last year? Maybe the snow? HRC

    Drag

Hi Sue, Check this link on Clutch drag, the explaination given is for a 93, but I think you might be able to get some answers from it. Gas Gas Help Pages - Clutch Drag Good Luck HRC
  14. Whats the name of the club Welsh? They might have a website with the results up, if they dont have the results you could try contacting them.
  15. I also agree with the thropie/award thing you mentioned. I know just about every other sport were I live gives awards out for football, cricket, rugby, school achivements and alsorts. However in trials this is a limited thing. They need to realise that they ARE going well in something that they do. They need something to say that good at their hobbie, and something to show their mates. It doesn't really have to be a trophy, maybe a certificate of achivement. Were limited on riders now, we need to keep them interested in trials, and they must know that they are good at it, otherwise they will give up and move on. You have some good ideas there Mr.B
  16. Thats some good reading there Alan, and some good ideas. One that I have thought of about the riders getting 'lost' when moving on in the sections, why no have a section map. Simply a laminated picture of an arrow, or a piece of map and use some cable ties to attach it to a tree, this way they wont (hopeful wont) wonder off. Also, when making the sections, all riders have different abilitys, weaknesses, etc. When the riders check in in the morning, give them a short questionnaire, asking questions such as their age, and favourite things in the sections, get the results in and blend them all in to create the sections suited to everyone. De-Tuned?

I am right in thinking that a 4 Stroke engine is normally used for speed, rather then power? So if a four stroke engine is tuned for speed, if it would be used for trials it would be untuned to get a mixture of both power and speed? About the other topic of hating the four stoke, what that all about? They might not look the business, but when it comes into riding they MUST be better or near as good as the 2 strokes. They have to be, riders can't go back down the ladder of technology, after all its taken years to get up it since the 1980's when 4 strokes were in, now with it being in 2003 the technology is far better then it was now. We have a greater understanding of engines and are able to make a 4 stroke as good as a 2 stoke. I support fours! HRC2002
