  1. Yup you can still get castrol R and 747 does smell very similar. Have run 747 for over 10 years in our 2 stroke trials bikes and also KX 500 supermoto monster, it is perfect for 'em. Aways ran 80-1 on 747 and never a problem with the trials bikes and imo it is the best 2T oil you can use. A local guy who always used 747 in his moto-x engine filled up with neat fuel and the bike ran for a considerable amount of time before he noticed a problem and when he stripped it down there was barely a mark , in which he put down to the quality of the oil still remaining in the bike .We have found this in oldish engines when stripped, after only ever being run on it that the bore etc looks perfect!

  4. Hi all, i have been looking for a couple of photos for an image project that i am on with at the moment and have asked the top dog on TC but as usual get no reply and so do any of you guys have an image anywhere that i can use/buy to go onto a promotional product? Ideally it would have a light background (basically like a silouette as i want to use it as a black & white image) and the images i am after are 2 and they are.... 1. like the usual wtc stuff, a trials rider on the rear wheel looking 'extreme'. Prob just an expert rider pic 2. a rider in the midst of a crash, ie going over the bars type of crash Many thanks for any help! Yes i have googled my life away looking for the right image... Mark
  5. A friend of mine does powder coating and there is a difference between powder coaters let alone types of finishes! Powder coating gets a bad name from some people, mailnly because they have either had done or seen a finish done by somebody who should be restricted to only doing the bottoms of boats or any other mess that cannot be seen and is inches thick!! If prepared and coated correctly the powder coating will not wear through with abrasion as quick as anodising will. Powder coating can be more susseptable(sp) to chipping sometimes(this is usually down to over thickness) but if the bike lands on a rock, you will see the alloy through anodising also. Me and a friend both have our wheels coated black, his anodised and i got mine powder coated, his show ths silver scratches of alloy up a lot easier and look much tattier than mine!! I dont know the cost of getting one anodised but the firm we use for our anodising has a minimum charge of
  6. Hmm, i see they made the bike parking area mobile

  9. Hi, i don't want to hijack your thread too much but just wanted to add a great phrase that i mate of mine has (mechanic) " tight's tight and bust's buggered !!!!! "
  10. Exactly the point that we have been pushing up round our way!! There is one certain idiot , sorry person of an age who should know better who turns up to loads of trials and spends the 1st 15mins before the official start riding round the paddock reving the hell out of an old unsilenced old piece of ****!! Drives most folks crackers, but he seems to think that it is ok cos it is old. It the most offensive noise you could get out of a trials bike but nobody says a thing because it is deemed a classic and ok , but the 4rt is not. Classic or not the arguement is either about noise or it isnt!! If it is, then ok and make the few old piles of scrap that are undersilenced quieter and then address the 4rt if that is what is needed. People do not complain about motorcyle noise and then turn round and say " oh it's ok that bluddy racket, i didnt realise it was an old bike, please do continue blowing away my eardrums in a clasic stylee" !! level playing field please !! (when i refer to piles of scrap i do not mean in a general term classic bikes, i mean the old bags of nails that are literally running piles of scrap!)

Painting plastics isnt a problem, most motorcycles are all painted plastics, inc. most trials bikes(some better than others) . The key is in the preperation as well as the paint. I have painted probably 20ish trials bikes including my own and the paint sticks no problem and is hard wearing and flexible. You just to either do it or get it done properly. (im sure there are lots of pics somewhere)
  12. Apparantly there is a very talented and much overlooked trials rider also from there who has a choice of skin suits to wear on a Saturday night on the toon!! He is always found to be muttering that he prefers four strokes, most of the ladies wont give him the one, despite the big boots.
  13. Eboracum run some great club trials which tend to be slanted slightly to the easier side and so are always well attended. www.eboracumtrials.org.uk As long as your bike is in reasonable condition, it should not cost very much at all throughout a years trialing, barring any disasters.
  14. One of my all time heroes. I have all his vids, books and grew up with him being our rally hero and regularly travelled to watch him around the UK. To also lose his son , well nowt else to say other than deeply saddened and shocked !!!! All thoughts go to his family.
  15. Blimey charlie TFT , i clicked your link and after a couple of mins my wee head hurts and i understood & could work out nothing
  16. Try Andy @ www.graffics.co.uk, i think it is. He is on Trials Central somewhere here
