  1. Sam,

We were riding about every three days up until the latest snow, and yeah, we did get a lot! The riding arena is still a go, I just have not had a chance to take the bikes over. I'll call when we are all set up so you can check it out.

Training days looks like a go, however I may soon take a new job and could alter the time I have available. If you need a place to test bikes the horsey barn should be plenty of room!

  2. OK, so I feel a little guilty, but I am planning on riding Mid-Michigan one more time before I re-up my membership and have to work it :chairfall: I have been selfish that way this season...

On a positive note, this will be my 8 year olds' very first event and he's going to pony up for membership as well!

Also, I will be bringing my brother and his family. They are threatening to buy bikes for next season...

  3. Biff,

I picked up my copy on Monday, and yes it focuses on body movement and even has slow motion replays with voice-over so the viewer is sure not to miss it. Very well put together I thought, and the best part is the guy at the end in the suspenders...what a ride!!!

  4. Whooaaa!!! Biff, man...Sure sorry if I my post presented as a critisism. It was not meant as one. I was simply lamenting the fact that I rode like crap. Just looking for a little "tounge in cheek" sympathy. You know, making fun of myself before anybody else gets the chance! :P Had nothing to do with event set-up, and everything to do with me having an off day.

I read through my original post again and didd'nt see anything that (I thought) sounded like a critique of you, so WTF right back at'cha! :o

I Love ya, man. And the next time I see you I'm gonna give you a great big hug! :hl:

  5. So then... What are the barriers to entry? I have no insight myself, but I know of two bicycle trial importers that were talking with the X-Games folks a few years ago and nothing has come of it to my knowledge. Like I said I have no insight, but it makes me wonder if it would be (or has been) a hard sell.....????

  6. Adding to the list:

Ricky Carmichael, We have all seen the picture of him holding his Scorpa!

Mike Larracco, 2yrs ago Sherco US spoke to him at a motorcycle show, he mentioned he owned a couple of trials bikes and had a pit set up for trials riding near his home!

Guy Cooper, The guy was very vocal about trials!

David Knight, We all have read about this guys trials back ground.

Juha Salminen, Same back ground as Knight.

Even are beloved John Wayne had a TL125 on his ranch!

    Who else?

Don't forget the 'ol Michigan flat-tracker.... Kevin Atherton!

  7. I have been riding trials off and on for the last 3 years. When I can make time I ride in the M.O.T.A. (Michigan Ontario Trials Association)events at the Intermediate level. I live on about 20 acres of hilly woodland, so most of my riding is at home. In fact, I don't think I made it to even one sanctioned event last year! :D

I intend to ride in more events this season, and would like to try out some other clubs as well. After the birth of our 3rd son about 7 months ago, my wife and I decided to call our family "complete". So diaper duty won't be as much of a factor from here on! B)

My oldest is 7 years. He is getting started on a TY80. As soon as he is ready to take part in events I'll have a green light (from the wife) :D to attend all the events I, er... my son wants. ;)

Wolfgang seemed pretty interested in trials. He did mention that he's not ready to buy a new machine, but he told me he is seriously considering a used one. He mentioned that he felt the most comfortable on an older Gas Gas that someone let him ride (maybe even at your place?). We also discussed Sherco (I ride an '01 290)and he had a good impression of those as well. I think he could get hooked with a solid used machine and some time on the pegs...

  8. Northernnorm,

Just trying to make a connection... I met a gent by the name of Wolfgang at an RV show in Louisville a couple months ago. We got to talking about trials and he said he's a friend of yours. I can't remember his last name, but I figured with a first name like Wolfgang, it would not matter! :D

Do I have the right guy????? :D

  9. Brent,

I was down at your place a couple years ago with good 'ol Sammy when Cris Santos was there for the weekend. Did you ever get a copy of any videos taken? I remember thinking I need to send you one, but I can't remember doing it!

Anyway... My 6 year old is just starting to ride trials. I got him an old TY80 to learn on. We should hook up with the boys and do some riding. I think I remember seeing an old Honda in your barn??? Have you gotten it back out yet?
