thanks for the info, also :thumbup:interested in any modifications to carb or timing to help them run smoother
-
with vast amount of knowledge out there does anyone know how to improve the standard setup, would like to improve low end pick up and make it a bit smoother, any suggestions considered however my riding style is kind of set in stone

Will let you know when i find the reciepts, getting old and can't................remember

Any ideas, can i get new original graphics and new plastics for a 1998? it's looking tired now
try SANDIFORDS, i had some 98 graphics this year, i'm sure they mentioned they had plastics as well

For anyone who is interested i found the needle bearing's on the dog bone link and swing arm link have worn, there is a bearing number somewhere within this forum but found it too late to save any real cash, however parts coming from sandifords so hope to ride at the weekend
cheers

thanks for the info, i have removed the upper rear shock bolt and can't find any play in the swinging arm, i can move the shock from side to side quite freely, but thought this would be as designed, without stripping down dog bone and Y link can't seem to find anything wrong anybody had the same problem, also rear wheel has very slight lateral movement i guess this is the wheel bearing???
-
I understand this has been discussed before, however on my 98 cota my vertical movement has dramatically increased in a few weeks, well one trial and a day practicing, i'm not into big obstacles just novice stuff, I can now move the arm (when the wheel is off the ground) about an inch at the furthest point (wheel end), i will be stripping it down but wondered if any one has any pre-stripping ideas
-
i am said father with three kids and i would be willing to pay say fifteen to twenty pounds for a really good venue or for my club to purchase some land for practice and competitions, but if clubs charge more than the usual then they need to explained why
-
i think they are the same thing, white on the inside, black cloth on the outside, any way they are pretty dam good
-

devonport are running a trial at S hire horse centre 17/2
-
am i right in thinking you need a road licence to compete in a long distant trial, or gps????
-
looking to ride the west of england knill trial 20 JAN, being a novice i have heard this is a good trial, any thing i will need to know before hand or any of your experiences will be helpfull
-
i am by no means an expert, so i can only comment on my own experiences, i also have a 98 315r, it does knock a bit and i run on the high octane fuel, i have taken my head off and found no play in the top end or bottom for that matter, spoke to a friend (who knows more than me about 2t) he just commented that its the high compression and nothing to worry about. has yours just started to make a noise? i am rather finicky over every litlle sound< if it doesnt sound right i tend to listen out for problems that aren't there!!!! obviously if ytours has started to knock and didn't before then it needs looking at.

my parents were having a laugh with my initial and last name put together spelt popeye, oh the fun i had when i joined the navy!!!!

you said it better than me and in less words

from what i have seen, there are a lot of riders that could and have riden the next level, but choose not to , due to age or not wanting to damage there bikes, i ride the easy route as i have'nt the ability to ride anything harder, however i never joined the sport for prizes so its not such a problem for myself and i am only looking at it from the bottom ( so to speak )
having said all that i think there are people who should be riding to there ability.
the alternative routes and over fifty classes have gone a long way to improve things, the easy route should mean exactly that, worryingly i have noticed some YELLOW routes getting harder, i hope this is not to please the many who now ride below there ability, or could i be getting any worse!!!
-
afriad of revealing your age nige!!!
-
hello mate, i had mine off last weekend, its sounds like the spring/ ball bearing has gone, but what i will say is if you need to take the crank case cover off ensure the nylon bush for the spring is housed correctly, if not it jumps out when back together
-
i have just repacked my 98 cota as i thought it would make it more pleasurable to the ears, however i havent noticed any difference , let us know how it goes and if it makes a difference
cheers
