  1. I've learned that powder coating is the only way to go . I would think that it would clean up easy enough .
  2. Yep , Powder coating is nice , But I think it's the difference between a ' Shop Queen ' and a ' Workin' Girl ' . I've had really good results with PJ-1 Epoxy paint in a can . Gloss on the frame and Satin on the wheels It's easy to touch up and is durable . FWIW
  3. Good one Dabster . The axle threads to caliper side and you should be able thread the axle out , if not your threads are seized . ( bottom of leg took a hit ? ) Got to be careful not to mushroom the axle as it won't fit thru the bearings . Only thing I can think then is to try and pop the bearing seals ,hmm. maybe drill a small hole thru the dust shields so you can get some juice inside to the sleeve . Thread a nut on to the axle just above flush and use a plastic hammer to coax the axle ( work both sides ) out . Patience ,
  4. I use an automotive chrome wheel cleaner made by Mother's . It sprays on , let it sit a bit , I use a wire brush ( brass preferred ) and rinse off . I've taken some hopeless looking chrome pieces and was amazed how well they cleaned up . ( No , I don't sell the stuff ! ) They also have a similar aluminum cleaner that I have used on engine cases and hubs that also does a great job that should be included in another post as a better alternative to sand blasting . But yeah to the other stuff . I also use this kind of wadding in a can . Never Dull is the brand I have , but have seen it go by different names . Non abrasive means is best IMHO
  5. Thank's Charlie , I wasn't sure about the quenching . Alan , Careful what you wish for I've got it marked down , just might have to DoDat
