  1. Your right big john pre-65 bikes are now mostly cheat bikes nothing like when they came out of the factorys! i had a 62 greeves scottish a while ago (still wth the original rubber/torsion l/link forks) points ign, original exhaust, basic shocks, a true pre-65 machine!!! but sold it! whats the point competing against suff thats had hundreds if not thousands spent on it! cnc machined this and that, different forks, reedvalves, mukuni carbs ect, ect!!! on a diffrent note im amazed at the prices of honda trials bikes tlrs, tls, seeleys? when compared to a decent 250/320 majesty it took me 2yrs find find my yam framed 250 majsety and when i did zoomed up to manchester on a sun night fom northampton to buy straght away? god forbid trying to find a godden framed majesty (not a chance!!! if anyone does there very very lucky?) surley based on the above rarity majesty's should be fechting around the
  2. I agree twinshocks are still absolute bargins still at the moment average prices are still around
  3. best bet would be to obtain a kawasaki kt 250 carb make sure it comes with the slide etc as its hard chromed! from a previous post someones mentioned its a straight fit no need to alter the jetting at all? best try ebay or phil at on any sunday motporcycles as he broke a few KT's a while ago or try ellastone offroad? this is the way i'd go if i needed a carb conversion for a Mar.
  4. i'd go with legs, motorcycle seat works in bradford, very resonable costs and super service!
  5. ive got a yamaha talon front wheel inc disc to fit the 250 mono in good condition for sale at a resonable price if anyones interested?
  6. enjoyed that! , thanks.
  7. need help here guys, I want to get my beamish suzuki through an MOT (its road registered already) i just want the basic day light mot ,ie no lights, brake light etc! the way i see it is road legal tyres( will trials tyres pass???) large number plate? quite exhaust? continous electric horn/ and a speedo? is this it? or have i missed anything? i heard that you dont need a rear brake light or even a rear reflecter for a day time mot is this true? need to try some tight / twisty green lanes for something different so need to be road legal!
  8. Thanks pitley, fitted the large footrests, all welded and sorted now! what a difference they make slightly lower and back a bit feels like i can pull it tighter in a turn now than before! better balance and feel to the bike. will order the SM front pipe, still waiting to hear from b+j racing on the uprated springs will post as and when on the results? i reckon on finding a decent front end re mono complete will be slim might buy a whole bike and tear the front end off and sell the rest! still think the std front end on the bike looks loads better but sure the mono front end will be ten times better than stock!
  9. im looking into getting some works performance shocks from the USA! there about the same cost as the std suzuki kayaba's (both gas/ oil but the WP'S look more heavy duty!) anyone tried them???

    Vintage Enduro

Sounds great! 2x1hrs sounds spot on given the ages of bike and rider lols! i'd use my 81 yamaha it175 not twinshock, but should be allowed as it came out same time as the 81 suzuki pe175x twinshock! also its in rough condition but runs great! as the PE175 im doing up is costing a bloody fortune and im trying to find a set of tank/sidepanels rough! so can swap over with the mint ones! so dont wreck em the first time out!
  11. well done jackman excellent job, forget doing another ty175 whats the point in having two of the same model!!! if you want a real challenge what about a ossa mar 250 now thats a bike that looks stunning when restored!!! scotty.
  12. hi guys, has anyone out here fitted a yam mono (drum brake) front end to a yam framed majesty 250 i understand that the mono yokes cant also be fitted? and have to mill out the STD ty yokes to accept the mono forks! does anyone know what the wheelbase will be after this conversion's been done? as the bikes already seems short with (i think) 51" wheelbase! if i cant get the above parts i need ive looked at the b+j racing web site and see there still doing the uprated( i think) fork springs and also a boyesson reed valve and alloy spacer kit that looks interesting, anyone tried these? on a different note i cut off the std footrest mounts and offered up the oversized footrests/brackets tomorrow im getting some 19mm nuts welded in the botton frame holes to complete. next step will be to obtain the SM front pipe so i can fit the full WES system ive had kicking around for ages! again might have to cut the front pipe down to make fit and also need an exhaust flange!(where can i get one anyone know?) thanks in advance lads!
  13. Any one knows why the majesty web site is still not up and running ? does Craig still sell majesty parts?
  14. Sorry to carp on about this subject again guys but has anyone fitted the front exhaust pipe from SM yet and if so does it fit ok? ive got a full alloy WES system ready to go on! i understand ill need the front ex,flange? where can i get one of these from as i dont want to saw up my majesty exhaust system as its still good(but heavy!) dont want to waste
  15. yes woody your correct , the top end must be removed before the engine can be refitted! next time im going to install the piston part way in the barrel then connect to the conrod as im sliding it over the studs instead of the usual way as its so bloody tight for space. the second option you mentioned is the way i'd go everytime its easy for studs to shear off after being stuck in for so long!

    Bult On Ebay

17 SWM'S Youve more bikes than me? hope youve got a big garage Martin!!! i think 70's enduro bikes will soon have a great interest/ following hence also prices going up? as there so bloody rare now! where do you ever see them? ive recently aquirred an yamaha it175 1981 model a bit tatty but completley original? to go with my 1981 pe175x which im restoring (at great cost ive now stop counting how much its racked up! ) have to say it them swm enduros look very nice? whats the 175 like is it the hardest model to find?
  17. Hi Vaughan Just looked at your web page, looks good! the seat you orderd from bultaco uk some come with the side strips some dont its how and when dave can get them (youll have to ask for them specially?) yes youll proberly scratch the frame to bits geting the engine back in as there very tight and theres a certain side they drop in! i think its in from the right side (standing above the bike) double wrap all around the frame tubes with masking tape or youll scratch it up big time i know this from experiance!!! good luck and keep us posted. Nick
  18. Cheers Woody , ill try the standard set up if possible with the mods youve mentioned
  19. Pitley what would i need 250 mono forks/ front wheel (drum)/ yokes, will the yokes fit straight in? if fitted with this front end would the bike be allowed to be used in the twinshock class even if its fitted with a later front end? cheers
  20. Hi guys, Has anyone fitted fork springs from another bike, say ossa or bultaco? as the fork springs on my ty250 are ******, just pushing the bike forward makes them sack right out! i want to keep it standard'ish and not mess about trying to make other front ends fit etc! any ideas?
