Hi, I am rebuilding a Cota 330 and was wondering if anyone can steer me towards a magneto and stator. The bike was savagely treated and the previous owner tried to get the magneto off by using a couple screwdrivers which destroyed the cases and the stator. I think the 349/4 or the 350 will work as well. Thanks.

Are you going to do this yourself??

Yes, I measured the piston about an 3/4 of an inch up from the bottom of the piston skirt. There isn

I just bought a Montesa Cota 330 and after measurng the bore and the piston I come up with a tolerance of aprox 0.12 MM. Too much?? Should I rebore to the next size or would a new standard size piston be acceptable?? Can anyone help?

A 200 is available as well, but with that engine 160CC engine, do you really think there is enough grunt there for classic trials?
-
I have the opportunity to buy either a 240 or a 300 for clubman type trials. My level is mid-level, which do you think would be best?? What about engine rebuilding, where can I get parts like piston, new clutch, etc. Thanks for the opinions and info!

Andy, the carb specs were taken off a bike which I recently sold. The bike worked very well as the complete motor I rebuilt. So I really cant tell you much more. The slide data you give me is way off. The number one slide is a lot richer so maybe the bike isn

Hi and good luck with the gripper. Here is the info you need for the carb
Amal 2627-408 is the correct carb
130 Main jet
15 Low speed jet
105 Needle jet
2B1 needle in the 3rd position
No.1 slide (gas valve)
2.5 Air jet (found on the filer side of the carb)
With that the bike should run perfectly (maybe a little fat on the bottom).
Take care and if you need any other gripper info let me know, I have rebuilt a number of them and am working on one now.

I was wondering if there was anyone out there with some experience with these carba. I wanted to know about slide number or type, needle number and low speed, high speed, and starter jet sizes??? Thanks.

Can anybody tell me if this company is still in business?? I have been waiting for a parts package to arrive for about a month. The parts were prepaid and I get no answer back from Dave Renham about the whereabouts of my parts. I wondering if anyone has info??

Hi, I am getting ready to buy a used bike and I

The sort of same situation I had. First question is how were the brakes before you did all this? Make sure the brake drum and shoes are completly clean of any oil or grease. It is easy to be working on the brakes and inadvertently touch the surfaces and get some slippery stuff on there. Maybe some grease from the cam has fallen off. Are the shoes new?? Maaybe there isn

Hi nice bike, there really arnt that many here in Spain at the twin shock events. There are usually more 348

Thanks, what impressed me most about the beta is the quality of the frame and parts. I have had GG

The only other thiung I can think of would be improper tolerances in the piston/cyclinder and like I said before, a bad plug/low octane gas causing premature detonation which should be looked at ASAP. Does the bike have a thermostat?? Could it be stuck closed?? Let us know finally what the story is. This is why I love twin shock!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi. if the bike is running that hot, something is definitively wrong. What does the plug look like?? Is it the right plug. If not, it may not be drawing off enough heat. Are you sure the gas is premix at the right ratio? Is there a coolant hose somewhere that is kinked? If you are adding coolant it must be loosing it some where or maybe the engine didnt filll with coolant after the rebuild for some reason. You got a lot of things to check out, timing will be very important as well.

I have been very impressed with the Rev 3, how does it compare to a GG TXT or Sherco for example?? Opinion??
-
Hi, maybe this will help:
1. get a new correct plug
2. make sure the carb has the correct jets, and nothing is missing
3. take out the old plug, check the new one for spark and kick the engine over five or six times, then put the new plug in
4. put fresh gas with the right mixture
5. put the choke on, dont touch the accelerator and see if it starts
6. if it starts and can hold an idle let it warm up about 30 seconds before removing the choke
7. if it doesnt die, rev and see how it goes.
If this doesnt wok and the cylinder and piston are sound, then the carb or the ignition are the problems.
