It's a 400 mile round trip for me to Rugby and I do that probably 12 to 15 times a year. If it means enough to you then you will do it.
I personally believe totally in the digital age and welcome all ways of communicating problem is you get so many idiots on forums who think they are being clever but they don't help things
-
Sorry just caught up with this one.
I take a trailer with fuel to the fuel halt/punch card check each day.
With the route altering for Saturday we are reccomending a splash and dash on the Saturday morning. Wer are still deciding whether or not to provide a second trailer but either way you will always find somebody who can take a can in their van
Cheers

Like I said it was a damned if we do, damned if we don't situation
At least Doug is big enough to accept our decision, and big enough to let us know if it all goes tits up
-
Sorry guys.
We are trying to make some changes and a few bits and pieces
Regs should be on here by later this week
or e.mail me @ mick.wren@virgin.net and I will send them as soon as they are ready
Keep the faith, the trial will make the wait worthwhile

Yes he was asked, yes he was available, no he wasn't discounted or disrespected.
Those of us who selected the team asked the same questions as you have and those of you who know Doug can imagine the fun he had watching us agonise over our decision.
Time comes for even the greatest to move on and we have great faith in our young guns to deliver the goods

Always a bit wary of replying to something which claims to be hyperthetical then it gets turned into an actual situation.
Personally If I was C of C or in whatever leading role I would never say that minders should not be allowed in under any circumstances. SAFETY MUST ALWAYS COME FIRST.
I believe that one minder should be allowed in, with the permission of the observer, to stand at a specific place where there may be safety concerns.
Whilst in the section they are there for rider safety only. Any attempt to alter the section or any other illegal acts should be punnished accordingly.
In answer to the question of who is responsible, or who goes to court my advice would always be never put yourself in a position where you might find out.
Safety first.
Please don't quote this out of context Ta

Totally agree with 99% of what's written here.
The really big problem with Trials in the UK is the gap in the middle
You are dead right to say that riders have had enough by the time they get to 18/ 20 years old dad runs out of money etc, they realise that they are never going to be Toni Bou and they take to drink and sex.
Then we have the gap, then we have those who are coming back to the sport or have always fancied a go but couldn't afford it when they were younger.
As far as i am concerned Trials have revolved arround this group for years. Everything has been dictated by number of entries, assuming that 150 odd entries is a succesful event. Doesn't make these guys the future.
Our youth riders are the future but weneed to keep them in the sport longer, I have seen the sacrifice and dedication our young riders and their families make for our sport and they have my greatest respect
The future ????? Jack Sheppard no doubt at all pure class
-
Why no Jack Sheppard ? Would have been better than that scruffy **** Toni Cairoli

Wake up and smell the coffee guys, no stop is not some mythical land of milk and honey, its a big nasty place where stoping is 5,or should be

Lakes 2 Day Trial Regs are now available in the Trials Central Events Calendar section
-
For anyone who is still in doubt the Lakes MTA have cancelled BOTH their trials scheduled for this coming weekend.
Sorry
-
It is with great regret that the Lakes MTA have today taken the decision to cancel The Lakes Sidecar Trial and the Twin Shock Team Trial scheduled for this weekend ( 23rd and 24th July). The lack of entries in the support classes have made this difficult decision necesary. THe clash with the Reeth 3 Day was always going to be difficult but this combined with the Barbon Hill Climb and other events taking place in the area have left us with no man power to run an event up to the required standard.
All entry fees will be returned or shredded. The Lakes MTA apologieses for any inconvienience caused
-
\For anyone interested in regs for the Lakes Sidecar Trial which is a round of The Luscombe Suzuki of Leeds British Sidecar Trials Championship.
Please note that regs and entry forms can be downloaded from Trials Central Calendar but the e.mail address of the secretary is incorrect.
please use shaungregg52@yahoo.co.uk or sarah@greggsarah.orangehome.co.uk or you can get them from the idiot who posted it incorrectly in the first place, namely me. mick.wren@virgin.net
Thanks

Brilliant video guys and no need for 3D glasses
-
Foot down backwards is a 5, those who claim to have recorded it watch again
-
Dear Beta Beta
PLease explain to me why it wasn't a five.
I totally agree that the officials present had a better view than us and more knowledge of the rules than Jack does, however I have an FIM Clerk of the course licence for both Trials and enduro, I have been ACU delegate at more WC events than I can count. I was assistant Clerk Of The Course at British World Trial at Carlisle and I have total and absolute confidence in Dave Willoughby But I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THAT WASN'T A 5
and if that makes me incompetant well so be it
-
I am not a big fan of some of the things that Jack says but I have been involved in events where he has been working and he is totally professional and does an amazing ammount of background on the events.
For once I believe he was totally right. Personally I blame Toni. He saw the decision that was given against Dibs and he knew that he had done the same thing, he should never have carried on. There is no doubt the guy is an absolute genious and a worthy winner of the series but incidents like this leave a bad taste.
As Jack said it was like watching a Man Utd game or more like WWE wrestling where the biggest cheat is crowned "Worlds Champion". Toni is certainly not a cheat, he is too good for that, but I believe no one person should be bigger than the sport itself and this type of thing needs to be stopped.
I am not naive enough to believe that all observing is spot on accurate or that mistakes are never made but it's a bit different when it is in the middle of a fell somewhere than in full view of millions.
I know that I was not there and didn't have the view that the observer had but I saw what millions of others saw and I believe this doesn't show our sport in a good light
-
No Ian Austermuhle !!!! That is a tragedy, should start an internet campaign
-
Can't be done. Different eras, different machines, different rules etc. However to me there is no doubt that Doug is the greatest ever. Nothing to do with stats, results or whatever, where Doug was the greatest ever was that he messed with the minds of his oposition and they just knew they couldnt beat him before they even started
-
Thd thats B*****ks. Shirty just said that he didn't believe the Sherco suited Browny. Trials is so much about confidence and self belief. Anyone who has watched Michael over the last couple of years can't fail to have noticed him giving his all but not looking convinced that he was going to get the outcome he was expecting. A change of machine can make all the difference and put a rider's career back on track, doesn't mean one bike is better than the other.
I have been a big fan of Michael since I first saw him when he was about 10. I believe he has more to offer and I look forward to him getting some great results, as I do for all the Brit riders
-
THis type of behaviour is totally unacceptable.
As stated by RichT there is a rule book which clearly sets out the proceedure for dealing with incidents like this.
As a member of the ACU Trials and Enduro Committe we get several letters a year sometimes weeks or months after the event asking us to take action against somebody who has behaved incorrecctly which by then is alomst impossible to do then we get the shouts of bloody ACU are useless.
In stead of whinging on forums riders should read the rule book and get the Clerk of the Course to take action against these people in the apropriate manner then these people might be irradicated from our sport. The rules are there just use them.
-
I would suggest you buy the 240 then let me know where the 300 is but you're probably in the US or Australia
