Did CCM get 1st British Trials Championship back around 1983-1985 with Steve Saunders?

Forgive me for my ignorance but did did CCM make a trials bike I know they made a mighty fine MXer but a trials bike?

I too come from a MX and Enduro background and have been doing trials for two years and really enjoy it. You will have to forget some traits that you picked up from Enduro such as gripping the bike with your knees etc. Trials will greatly improve your riding for enduro but enduro will not improve you for trials. I have a scorpa 05 Sy had it two years the only problem I had was the the radiator bracket snapped off $20.00 weld job.very reliable low maintenance and User friendly. Oh and the Guards/fender are extremely flexible and very rarely brake unlike others which are expensive to replace and I think you will be dropping it a bit until you work out trials. Mine turns better than the 06 Sherco I rode just as good as a Beta I did like the 290 sherco engine though. I want to go back to enduros now with the skills I have learnt from trials as I think I would now love the technical nasty sections in enduro's I used to hate.

Maybe you ride right out in the back country of Canada where there is no one around for hundreds of miles. But it is a fact that four stroke sound noisy unrestricted four stroke sound carries further than your normal trials 2 stroke sound. (and yes the Beta is Quiet so is the montesa until you take out the restrictors from the exhaust system and a hell of alot of people do ) Alot of people complain about noisey unrestricted 4 stroke which draws unwanted attention to limited amount of riding areas.

I hate to say it but those noisey 4 strokes are not helping the matter and they where to be environmentally friendly.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts(pros and cons) about changing between 2strokes and 4strokes. funnily enough I prefer a 4strokes for Enduros and trail riding but prefer a 2strokes for trials. I think we will all be forced on 4strokes in the future anyway?

They might have to get the Chinese to start making copies of the TYZ engine I suggest they make the engine a bit narrower and also give us a choice of a 290

Did anyone else notice the Beta's at one of the Olympic Events.

Thats about a saving of $2300.00 AUD here in Australia or about 30% going on those prices based on Beta pricing.It would be more savings on Scorpa's , Gas Gas and Shercos pricing. You would have to add shipping charges and duties etc might not be that much of a saving

Mercedes Benz cars are made in China so are Chrysler .One of the biggest auto manufacturing plants in the world if not the biggest. There quality seems to be OK Watch out your Beta engine might be coming from China soon.

I hear it has a DR200SE motor made by Qingqi. Don't know if it is true or not?

You can ride a road bike to work (can't ride your trials bike to work) and save alot of petrol instead of using the car and on the weekend you can go for a good ride. I know some people who have sold there trials bike to get a road bike to do just that.

Unfortunately what happens in California and Europe with the environment laws is now filtering through to us in Australia.Some of the rules they want to pass this year will kill trials and enduros competition if they go through.

Western countries and multinational companies selling out or the greed is good factor. I see adidas is looking at pulling out close to 300 factories they have in China and setting up else where. Maybe Xispa will be made in Pakistan by the time it goes into production.

Is your economy better ? Yes Is the cost of fuel cheaper? No but you can't blame the Chinese solely for that Is employment up? No it is the lowest it has been for a long time. Do they treat there workers fairly? Probably not but alot of workers did not go back to the factories after chineses new year deciding they can make a better living on the farm after the government realized they need to feed 1.3 billion people and gave them better incentive to stay. Do they follow the same pollution and environmental codes?No Has Australia and America signed the code NO. China is getting alot better with the environment still has along way to go. Do they produce safe non toxic food and medical products?Yeah they have problems but why do the big western countries just blindly bring them in and sell. Alot of Western countries closed down there factories in China this year because the cost of living in China is rising (wages, food and real estate etc) and moved there manufacturing to other third world countries. That will give you other countries to pick on.
