  1. No pop taken.thanks for the info.I'm leaning towards the 250.
  2. I come from a MX,enduro background (30 years)I rode my mates KTM 200exc while a very nice bike it was lacking on big hills i had a KTM 300 at the time. One place i will be riding has big hills with no run up.I would only tame a 250/270 down till i got used to it if at all. From what i understand Betas are pretty user friendly compared to Sherco's and GasGas?I rode a GasGas 280 while it had plenty of power it didn't compare to my KTM 300.Thanks anyway.
  3. Can you tame both these bikes down i.e retard the ignition, thicker base gaskets?Would that make the 270 more tourquier? Thanks for the replies.
  4. Looking at buying a Beta.Is there that much difference between the 250 and 270 Beta say 2003-2006 model?
  5. I find this a good thread as I'm looking to purchase a trials bike and use these forums and others to find out about each brand.Yes they say go and ride the bikes before you buy but this is not always possible especially here In Australia as it is mid summer and people are not really riding there bikes that much because it is to hot?and the trials events won't start for another 6 weeks.I had hope to be competing by then.Riding around a car park does not really give you a good indication of the traits of the bike.
  6. Thanks for the information. I spoke to martin at MRS on friday and there was a fault on a small batch off 2006 rear shocks, basically the lower mount was made from a poor grade off casting and as its under alot off pressure after time it streches the threads until it pops out !!!! I have gone for the
  7. Well done.I've been following this thread as i am also after a first trials bike and are trying to work out which bike to get.Although I didn't see the Sherco coming.I am thinking of getting a Sherco 250 or 290 myself and come from a MX and enduro background while lately i have been doing alot of MTBing for the last few years.I'd be interested to hear how you go transferring from bike trials to moto trials?Especially how different bunny hopping the two bikes are.I think the Sherco would be good for me because i live in Australia and it is extremely dry here and there are alot of rocks and 2/3 ft steps around here.

Where would you purchase Castic soda from?
  9. Would the sherco have roughly a similar power delivery as a Gas Gas and would the beta be abit more mellower.Just trying to work out which bike to get myself?
  10. Are the rotor the same size on each bike?
  11. What are the differences between 2003 and the 2004 280 Gas Gas pro and is it worth paying more for a 2004 Gas Gas pro as opposed to the 2003?.thanks
  12. Thanks for the reply.Did you have any experience with bikes before you got your 300.Have you ridden a 280?I rode my mates KTM 200 exc while it went well it seem to lack torque for the big hill climbs
  13. I'm looking to start in trials but i need a bike which I'm looking to get soon.Which bike would be a good bike to start out on?I'm looking at a 2004 Gas Gas 280 would this be to much bike for me or would a 250 be better.I have been riding dirt bikes off and on for the last 35 years (moto-x and enduro)I had a KTM 300exc and could handle it but i was faster on a Honda XR 400(tamer bike)Could i add a flywheel weight to the Gas Gas 280 to tamer it down till i get used to it?Alot of the riders seem to have 280/300.Is there that much difference between the 250 and 280?Would a Sherco be a more user friendly bike to start out on?Sherco seem the most popular over here(Australia)Thanks
  14. I started riding trials bikes 30 years ago and then went on to moto-x and enduro's and now I'm looking to get back into trials.I'm looking for a trials bike now second hand. One question would a 280 Gas Gas 2004 be to much bike for me start out on again or should i stick with a 250.I had a KTM 300exc and could handle it but was quicker on a tamer Honda XR 400.Thanks and hello
