Looks very similar to my Cota. Only yours has red frame and silencer.

I'm going to remove the rear wheel from my Cota 247. I have a flat tire and I want to check the wheel and the rim.
Any tips how to do it correctly? Do I need to release the rear brake? Do I need to take the chain off? Do I need to mark any position of the wheel?
Any help will be appreciated. I never done it before.
Also- the previous owner told me it's a tube rear tire, but the tire (Dunlop D803 says tubeless) Could be it's a tubeless tire with add tube inside?
Thanks.

I noticed the silencer is missing, and online I see some bikes also missed the silencer.
I also notice some models has black frame and some models has white frame. The white frame models has a front wheel with larger brake. Which probably makes sense that my bike (which seems early model) has later model front wheel with smaller brake.
Both of my bike rims has Akront sticker on them.
I notice some has white mudguard and some has silver or red.
I'm guessing those old bikes got parts mixed up from different year models due to luck of getting the right part to the right model.
I collect and restore vintage Italian espresso machine.. it's the same scenario..
-
Thanks! I will check those 2 options.
-
Thanks guys.
I can't imagine me riding this bike at 12.. I had a small Italian scooter when I was 13. No chance I could handle this weight.
Do you think the yellow is the original color?

Looking for a retro style helmet to match my Montesa Cota 247.
Something new and modern technology aspect but retro in look.
Any suggestions?

I decided to pull the trigger on a beautiful but strangely yellow Cota 247. Thank you all for your help here in other groups in this forum.
I want to check the air filter. Do I need to take down the gas tank in order to get to the air filter? if yes, any tips how to do it safely and correct?
The owner told me to use non ethanol fuel in order to keep the fiberglass tank in good shape. Is this a common practice with this tank?
And a photo of course!

Thank you guys for the input.
I don't see myself buying a bike outside my area in Central NY.

Hi,
There is currently one for sale near me at $2350.
Is this model and year consider to be desirable vintage trials?
Is it hard to find parts in the US?
Any recommend/ issues/ notes?
I will appreciate any help or thought.
-
I appreciate your input. Yes,
My interest is limited to the bikes that listed around me. I guess I will skip this Scorpa as well.
-
I send him an email 2 days ago and received no reply.. I live near Syracuse, it's not that far.
-
Bits me why the prices for trials bike in NY/NJ are high.
-
Bummer.. Can I post here the picture of the bike from the ad?
-
I'm still going back and forth between early 2000 water cooled bike to a vintage air cooled bike.
The main reason is lack of inventory (or not inventory at all) where I live.
There is currently water cooled one for sale in my area. List says 1998 Scorpa Sr250. I'm guessing it's SY? because I didn't see any indication for Sr.. bike seems pretty "tired" and priced $1800
Is it a recommend model for a newbie? any known issues? are parts easy to source in the US?
Any advice would be appreciate.

I consider myself in good fit, but lack any experience in trials riding. Back in the day I had an enduro bike (KLX200). So I defiantly looking for an easy start.
It seems the Yamaha TY's are very hard to find where I live. The Honda's pop up from time to time. There are few nice Honda Reflex which priced high- average of $3500.
There is a nice looking Fantic 301 from 1986 at $2500 or best offer.
-
I guess I misspelled Trials..
Thanks guys for the Information. I'm guessing to find one of those bike is the hardest part.
-
Being "vintage" myself, I decided to go the vintage path in trial bikes.
(Innately I asked about 90's Fantic, and received helpful information, but I think my heart is the vintage design and look) By vintage I mean air cooled bikes.
I'm 6'0 tall and weight about 165lb. Looking for a fun trail bike to learn the basic and maybe in the future to participate in the category of vintage trials bike races.
My main concern is getting spare parts for the bike. I'm locate in the US.
From what I read the main 2 option are Yamaha TY125 or Honda TLR reflex.
From the to option above- any year engine combo recommendation?
Did I miss other bike option? I don't mind if the bike is street legal. I even prefer not.
Thank you in advanced!

Wow! I didn't expect this kind of trail activity in CNY.
A great surprise.
Thanks.

Hi,
I live near Syracuse, NY and I'm thinking to purchase my first trail bike.
Is there any trails or woods I can ride round Syracuse?
Thanks.

Thanks guys! I appreciate your input. I'm defiantly skipping this K-roo and looking for the better option as you mention.
I'm glad I found this forum 😎

Htrdoug, so you suggest I consider going on the water cooled K-Roo 250? You are not concerned about the issues with the radiator? (That I read online only)
Right now I am not sure what is the year model of the K-Roo 250, but it's looking quite modern. It has a upside down front forks, water cool, light and 2 disc brakes.
-
Thank you Goudrons2 for your reply!
The list says 1998 so I guessed the owner knows the year of his bike..
After reading your comment on the radiator and continue reading about it in other places, I decided to keep looking.
Any way I always liked the air cooled vintage dirt bikes/ trailers.
I now came across a 1986 Fantic 301. Looks in good shape.
owner want $2500 or BO. Seems high to me, but the bike looks really nice.
as I understand from your previous comment- also hard to find parts for this model? Do they share common parts with other brands like Beta or Gasgas?
-
Hello,
Never had trails bike before but always wanted one.
Local guy near me selling 1998 Fantic K-roo 250, asking $2000.
From the photos and his description bikes seems in very good shape.
My questions:
1. Is this a fair price for the model and year?
2. Is it hard to find spare parts in the USA?
3. any major issues with this model?
Thank you!
