Totally agree with Mike about setting of sections, I prefer no-stop 'cause I like to be able to get going - more speed, less balance - but the sections have to be flowing.
If you allow stopping then you get to the stage of the British Champ type stuff with guys in the lower echelons spending ages in a section trying to keep their threes. With big entries like the Scott, SSDT or the Manx you'd end up with huge queues at the sections.
Rubber insertion jointing (gasket material) is what you're looking for, it has a thread through it to make it strong. Without the thread it is probably known as neoprene. You'll be struggling to find it at 2mtr wide, it usually comes in rolls about 1.3 / 1.4mtr wide.
Maybe something to do with the petrol leaking from the Rev 3 carb when stopped. Beleive it or not, I was once told by Lampkins that 'they are designed to do that'.
