many thanks for the replies. just been out today (Warden Law, Seaham) and it performed great. very responsive and torquey. different to the TY250 Mono ive just sold. downloaded the strange parts guide (pictures instead of CAD drawings) and the 'how to understand the chassis number. i ran the bike with 100ml oil per 5l of petrol. seems ok. again cheers and happy trialing. andyh

Hi all thanks for the responce. the kick start lever is in the correct vertical position. i moved it one tooth forward last night however it then touched the cylinder head. when i kicked it over the part that attaches to the shaft did not touch the case? and appears to have the internal stop working. the kick start assembly is correctly attached with no play on the splines. this is confusing. i will try to fabricate some kind of stop. where i attach this too is anyones business. anymore thoughts appreciated. andyh

Hi all i have a TY250 1984 bike. the kick start lever hits the clutch case when starting the bike. this has left an indent in the case which iam sure will split. surely there should be a stop somewhere? i cannot see where it should go or where i could fit one. any suggestions thanks andyh

thanks for the reply. my forks have a 3in spacer on top of the spring then top fork nut. would this mean it still goes where you said it does. many thanks in advance. andyh

hi all i have just replaced the fork seals and have a prob. the fork has a long spring (20in) and a short spring (25mm / 1.5in) in length and i cannot remember where the short spring goes. does the damper rod go through the spring before if is secured by the allen screw going through bottom of fork slider? i seem to remember it falling out of the chrome fork leg when i turned it upside down to drain the remain oil. many thanks in advance andyh

Many thanks. eventually used a wooden broom handle tapered which slotted in and locked the rod. dropped the front end complete and removed each oil seal with wheel, mudguard and forks still together. worked fine. i'll try 280ml. many thanks andyh

Hi all i am in the process of dismatling my TY250 mono forks jap inport to change fork seals. the screw holding the damper inside the slider is just turning as is the damper rod inside. it looks like a special tool is needed to stop it spinning. anyone got a suggestion as to what i could use. i do not have a manual. download anywhere? is 300ml of oil ok for an average rider? thanks in advance. andyh
