sounds like my 250 evo, looking and sounding good so far
I hurd on the grape vine that you can request usd forks or conventional when you place the order not sure if thats the case or not.

Hi mate
on my old sy250 the bolts didnt quite go through the nyloc, so I got ones slightly longer and also put stud locker on and it worked well .. you could also put star washers behind the nyloc's
cheers

Hi mate
Id suggest having a go on all the models that you can... My old man has a repsol 4rt, i've had a scorpa sy250F 4stroke, ive ridden an 08 sherco 320 and have ridden a stock 07 beta 4stroke and also an 08 300 beta 4stroke with a factory race cam ..
For me I found that the 320 sherco had abit of a flat spot like the scorpa and was simular in power and was rather tiring to ride.. but handled better than the scorpa but had an annoying ticking noise and was by far the hardest to start.
The 4rt has always been the most versatile and the best built but the most expensive.. easy to ride and you can customize the power to suit your riding style more than all the other bikes but is also seems heavier to ride than the the beta and sherco but on par with the scorpa.
The beta 250 was abit lacking in grunt from what I could work out .. maybe the evo model has more power but yeah wasnt all that fun to ride.. seemed lighter to ride than all the other 4 stroke bikes and abit more nimble which would again be improved in the evo frame.
The beta 300 was by far the most powerful 4stroke has a mountain of power especially in 2nd and 3rd gear and was enough to put a big smile on everyones face who got to ride it .. and also was light and easy to start.. someone I know did say that the evo 300 didnt come with the race cam and had less power but the new frame improved the handling as you would expect from an evo.
thats just my 2 cents.. all in all i've gone back to a 2 stroke evo 250 after having a few scorpa 2 strokes as well and I must say the 4 stroke bikes are good for a lap or two but the take some effort to ride .. 2 stokes are a lot easier to learn moto trials on and also the benefits gained from riding a 4 stroke dont really benefit a beginner anyway...

unless your names toni b I don't think you would tell the difference ? apart from the new bike would run a bit tighter being that its a new bike.. which is always deceiving its funny when people go to test days and hop on next year bike and comment on how well it runs and how the power is different I think about 80% is down to it being a new bike I bet if you ran a 2010 bike thats half a season old along side an 09 thats half a season old that ran in similar grades and were both say 250's I don't think you would spot the difference
-
nothing new ive been under a bike many times in and out or a section
-
you could always try a spark gap tester thing that you put inline with the ht lead to the plug and check that you have an output from the coil above 2k if not then try a new coil and cdi .. maybe you could borrow one if you know of another bike in the area maybe something is breaking down and it cant fire a spark past a certain point.. ?
-
myluck do you live in a small crack in the middle of the motorway and possibly from the eastern block ie kazakhstan ?
-
maybe it sounds like a hedge trimmer too ..
also spotted evolution on the plastics .. so is this called the " Sherco evo "
-
Looks okay seems to me like its a cross between a gas gas and an evo, the colour is abit of a set back though :/ along with the black fork clamps
-
my 250 is pritty soft until you give it a handful but seems to more zippy ( technical term ) rather than ball tearingly mental ( 2nd technical term ) like the 290 in 3rd gear
-
looks like old Christmas wrapping

Get an evo there great, some of the modern advances make riding just that little bit easier ie the evo turning circle really helps, i've noticed it comes in handy I know my scorpa's that i've ridden wouldn't quite turn as much as the evo does, also the advances over the Rev 3 are also really good, most of the annoying features of the rev 3 like the rear brake slave cylinder used to stick out and wear a hole in your boot have been rectified making riding just that little bit more enjoyable..
all depends on the wallet though new bikes are not cheap if your happy on your 99 though just stick with it ..
-
You cant ride a 4RT like a modern 2 stroke, my old Sherpa T could be ridden like a TL 250 or TLR 250 but a 4RT, Sherco and the Scorpa 250F all have large amounts of engine braking and unless your clutching and riding stop start at the top level, for most grades modern 4 strokes are a harder bike to ride requiring you to muscle the bike through sections more than a modern 2 stroke. That is from my experience riding a 05 Repsol a fair bit and owning a 07 Sy250F, I would say the Beta 300 with the race cam rides more like a 2 stroke though it has very little lag in the throttle and has very steep power curves when you wind on the power and dosnt have very much engine braking which makes it an awesome bike to ride..

Hi mate
I just got an evo 250 and ive found the power is a fair bit more than my mates 08 rev 3 200, I know they don't usually change much on the 200 from year to year so I would say it would be the kinda the same. The beta dealer where I live said that the S3 Ti pipe dosn't have the first stage muffler which ive seen, its just a straight bore with no expansion chamber, he said it makes the 250/290 sound awful .. he did mention beta do a Ti exhaust on the beta website that includes the expansion bit. My 07 scorpa 250 seemed to be alot different to my 09 one with the S3 ti exhaust it did have alot more top end but weather that was down to the pipe or not i'm not so sure. My mates 07 200 ran sweet and he was really happy with it but when the 08 came it had a massive flat spot in the power delivery which he managed to tune out but it didn't run as well as the 07.

Could call her HMS LGG ( Lumpy Green Giant ) just need to crack some champers on her bow and mount some life boats on her sides and set sail for extinction
-
I didn't say it was a bad bike i'm just saying its green .. Id hate to see the bike after its covered in scratches or after an ssdt
if you choose to leave it in the shed it wouldn't do it justice though, maybe you should put the anodised bits in a box and then ride it more often then bolt them back on for show or sale ?
-
but its green ? wouldn't take much riding knock off the green bits though
-
Ah lucky I jumped ship from scorpa and got me an evo and about time too
Honda/Montesa is a great brand they just seem to have the honda stubborn mentality, they just arnt flexible enough to adapt to a quick changing market.
why can't they save cost on the 4rt production .. , I'm sure they are just trying to recover costs on the inital R&D
-
I just hope they offer a spare parts service for existing models.. sooner rather than later
What if they used a softer version of the sherco 250 motor and put it in the scorpa frame and changed they exhaust to suit ..
the front end of the 09 scorpa is the same as the 09 gas gas its just the frame, air box, carb and swing arm they have to buy in like scorpa did
if they just ran with the Sy 250 model it wouldn't be too expensive, why would they maket the scorpa as beeing a cheap model when that isnt what scorpa is about since there build quality and reliabillity is slightly superior to all models apart from montesa, you cant just start selling scorpas and market them as a budget brand especially when the 09 scorpa is a slightly better all round bike than the 09 250 sherco
-
Well id do a couple of things first ..
Ask for half a dozen high quality close pics of the bike in good light so you can get a better idea of what condition its in ..
also when people say " lightly ridden " or " no comp use " sometimes means something is wrong with the bike ..
a good bike should speak for its self .. you can tell right away if you see rusted bolts etc if its worth your while
also make sure you can take it for a ride before you make hand over money for it
one last thing, you can see fuel on the floor near the stand I know most rev 3's with out mods do it but just check it isn't more than usual
-
Whos he ? anyone know the latest ?
