I think the gaurds bend flat alot quicker if you sit on the air box ..
I wouldnt call my scorpa docile .. with a diff jet the s3 pipe and some reed stoppers my 15th an is comparable to any 270 my 07 was abit softer .. I think every year the sy gained abit more power here and there and by the time the 15th an was released it and tweaked it has heaps of grunt ..
as for under developed I dont think thats true either .. just because the bike isnt entered into the world round its still a competative bike for most grades depending on the rider and yes the carby is hard to get out but at least you dont have to pull it apart to clean it and change plugs unlike some bikes
-
I hope so ..
I wonder what happend to the move to the gas gas workshop .. ?
-
Hi mate
Look this may sound stupid but it happened to my 07 scorpa, Check the bolts at the bottom of the handle bar clamps .. I had slight movement in them and it felt like under brakes it was headstock bearing play ..
hope that helps
-
So does this mean scorpa as a company is finished ?? if so what does that mean for spare parts etc ?
-
Thanks mate
do eurosport cover the indoor rounds and TDN sometime in the year > ?
-
Is the line up the green bank in front of you or to you turn right up the stream ?

Hi Lads
I owned an 07 scorpa 4T and my old man has a repsol 4RT ..
The scorpa was under developed at that time with the carb and always had a flat spot in bottom end but as far as the YZ motor was concerned it started 2nd kick every time and was very easy to start hot or cold and even if it was upside down under water after cleaning the water out it still kicked through .. It didnt have the R&D $ spent on it like the 4RT did by honda which isnt exactly scorpa's fault as they are a small company
The 4RT is a great bike and starts really well hot or cold but the problem with that bike from experiance is if something goes wrong like my old mans fuel pump in the tank was over heating because the radiator fan wasnt pushing enough air and as the temp increased in the fuel pump the pressure to the injector dropped to 150kpa which then started the motor to cut out .. its very hard to fault find if something does go wrong not that it often does mind you because there are so many components to fail or have fault with.
The sherco seems very close to beeing a great bike it just seems to me that even if you have to have a precise starting procedure it shouldnt be that hard to start .. they should have long before now factored in something to make the motor more robust and easy to start after all it is still a trials bike meaning you have to start them 20 or so times a trial ..
I cant comment on the Beta because I havnt ridden one ..
I just like the power response of a 2T it takes less effort to be precise in a section and just seems to take less energy to ride the same line with a 2T .. thats my opinion anyway
cheers

Hi Lads
I use Belray gear saver 75 in the gear box 600ml
and motul 2T 800 Factory line for premix 70 -1
wd40 all over the bike and chain ( not the discs )
mothers plastic protector ( smells like flowers ) on the plastics
nulon disc clean on the discs
and tyre shine silicone spray on the tyres ( usually helps mud stain and cow crap wash off easier )
loctite stud lock on the sprocket bolts
and plenty of water proof grease on the handle bar single bolt clamps if you have that style ( I think the 06's ad the two bolt ones )
also check the the exhaust flandge on the motor dosnt leak if it does stick some copper grease on it and refit
also helps to get rid of the standard air filter and stick in a jitsie one
get rid of the standard chain and put a DID gold racing chain on there 520 light duty ( forget the part number )
also invest in a carbon exhaust pipe protector and on the silencer well worth the money
I also run a BKR6EIX eridium plug they work great, if you can get them trade price its worth it
and one last one if you can afford it put some apico leavers on and stick the ajp ones in the tool box
sorry for all the dribble just things that I did and have been helpful although I ride my bike nearly every weekend of the year so it gets some use
cheers

Hi mate
Sounds like the pilot jet is blocked and idling on choke fuel my old bultaco had the same problem when the pilot jet got blocked up with grit coming from the tank it would cut out then only run with the choke on ..
try cleaning all the jets out again, take the fuel line off that runs from the carb to the petcock blow it out with compressed air .. then get one of those inline fuel filters and cut it into the hose so it sits between the tank and the carb .. they only cost about 3 dollars .. 1 pound 50
if you have the time .. take the petcock out of the tank and clean the tank out maybe its got some crap in it. also check the filter on the petcock isn't also damaged or blocked
hope that helps
cheers

Hi lads
I run a ( I think ) BKR6EIX in my scorpa and also ran them in my 07 for a whole season and they are great I only changed it half way through the season because it was getting harder to start once I changed the plug it was like a new bike again .. so even for 22 dollars well 15 if you have a trade account twice a season isn't bad my 02 beta 270 had to have a pack of 6 standard plugs kept with it at all times
-
Hi lads,
I have a gold DID 520 chain on my scorpa, seems to be a very good chain not the cheapest though

Nigel, you can't possibly make an informed comment about the positives and negatives without actually riding a bike with a clake fitted. Your comments seem to assume riders that have ridden a bike with a clake fitted can not possibly find benefit from using such a product. It dosn't matter which country the rider is from, last time I checked the trials community is made up of riders from all corners of the globe, you do not have to be from england to have an understanding of moto trials and how a rider can benefit from riding a trials bike with a certain product. Nigel Dabster is not always correct in his comments and Nigel Dabster is way out of line with his speculation of other riders abilities to review and recommend a product to their fellow trials community. It maybe the case that you sit back and think before making comments on public forums in the fashion that you have previously displayed.
-
Nigel , I'm not sure the point of this topic is to convince you to purchase this device, It is obviously to point out that the clake serves a purpose and could benefit some riders. Your arrogant reply's are not useful so I suggest if you have not tried a clake then you are not in a position to give a balanced and educated opinion about this product. It's unfortunate that topic's set in this forum have to put up with such small mindedness from a certain few.

just remember you don't need the best quality tools all the time
if you get a good socket set and some good spanners that wont rust with a couple of good shifters
you cant go wrong
you can also save a lot of trouble just by washing your bike with the proper bike wash and blow it off with a compressor
I guess the more you do to keep it out of the garage the less money you need to spend on tools to fix it ..

Thats easy
1 Bench
1 Vice ( Record )
1 set of shelves with sign " No Bloody Gardening Equipment "
1 Fridge with beer inside
1 radio
1 fan or heater depending where you live
1 calendar
1 12 " shifter
1 8 " shifter
1 set of spanners
1 set of allen keys
1 pair of pliers
1 set of circlip pliers
1 pair of needle nose pliers
1 wire brush
1 pair of multi grips
2 sizes of vice grips
1 rubber mallet
1 set of screwdrivers
1 1/2 " socket set with plug sockets
1 set of watch maker screw drivers
1 roll of fine emery tape
10 sheets of 1000 grit wet n dry
1 oil pan
1 20 ltr container with lid to put excess oil into ( Take it to tip to recycle when full )
make a list of the bolts your most likely to take out on your bike
and get a box and fill it with a few of each
1 tube of waterproof grease
1 tube of nickel anti seize
1 tube of copper grease
1 tube of rubber grease
1 tube of thread locker
10 cans of wd 40
10 cans of degreaser
10 ltrs of kerosene
10 ltrs of white spirit
5 cans of disc break cleaner ( nulon or motul one is okay depending on your budget )

1 fixed bike stand
some good lights in your garage
industrial pack of ear plugs so you cant hear your misses telling you to come inside

Just picked mine up and compared to my 07 sy250 which I had from new the engine is so much smoother not sure if its the differant pipe has a fair bit more zip of the bottom end and the big discs seem to make a huge diff
giddy up !
-
Hi guys
I hurd today that they are canning the 200 because its not euro 3 compliant, also they maybe bringing out an electric start 125
-
Just wondering if anyone has ridden or owns a 15thA sy 250 2 stroke and if so what are they like to ride ?
cheers
-
Hi mate
had the same problem ... your best bet is firstly checking the seals on the master cylinder .. and the banjo at both ends ..
take the pots out of the caliper fill both halves with oil then put them backtogether .. then stick a syringe on the tube attached to the bottom of the reservoir and push fluid back through the bleed nipple by pushing opening closing refilling 7 or 8 times and you should get pressure back
also make sure there is no holes in the low pressure hose
-
Finally got the proper seat to match
