My diadora muds arrived today

At 2 thou let it warm up before you ride it otherwise it may nip up and use a good 2 stroke oil

That thick black treacle is un-burnt oil so its over-lubing the barrel. Either re-adjust the autolube or blank it off and mix in the tank and use a good oil or a fully synthetic one that will burn off better thou they all leave some unburnt oil behind

The lobe rests on the casing at around 1 o'clock which is where the kickstart should be (and at a position that you often hit with your shin!!!) , if you put the kicker further forwards the lobe will puncture the mag housing case when you kick over fully.

I re-bored my 247 to 00.003 thou, dont know the metric as i only bore in thou.
Dave
-
Fit the bearings flush to inner casings then the crank, fit crank into the mag side first as the gearbox should rest that side then fit clutch side next.
Dave
-
I use atf in my mont 247 clutch and ep90 in the g/box
Dave
-
As you have got the new piston i would get it bored
Dave
-
Hi,
my 247 runs on a bultaco piston without any probs and i did the re-bore. Go get it bored out and also check the small end and big end for any play

Hi,
bearing size is 6205 for both sides, you must use C3 bearings for heat expansion,
Dave
-
If they are 6005rs then they are the same.

Just got my old mont 247 piston and the ring pegs are at the front around 10 and 2 o'clock as were the bult piston. Piston fitted had a rear window and 2 small front holes, made by GPM of Italy. It works fine
Dave
-
I would put a mt43 on the front also, my 247 montesa handles fine with them and a good front will stop you sliding sideways on a sharp up-hill turn

Thanks N/R and i would have been at the trial but i,m in Paris this weekend,
Does anyone know whether i can use a clockwise mag on my anti-clockwise mag bike as my one sparks either way so all i need to do is change the end plate with the manual advance on it or use the other mag armature or are the end threads l/h thread on clockwise and r/h on anti (mine is r/h thread). Armature number is 464205
Just trying to think of a cheaper alternative!!!!

Thanks Brian and John for your reply,s and for Stuarts phone number. I have just got home and went outside and it started first kick and rev,s cleanly so its bloody annoying that it breaks down when hot but thats british!!!!!! at least i know it will be fine after a mag re-build

With any luck not ron will see this post. The worst part is the bike runs superbly for 15-20 mins then nothing then it starts again,

Hi, anyone know which lucas model a 1953/4 redditch 350 bullet would use as my mag has no identity on it but i,m sure its lucas without the dynamo attached. Basically it has a fat blue spark and runs fine with a nice low tickover but when its hot the spark dissapears and re-appears at will and this is rather annoying (also sounds expensive ) .
Its an anti-clockwise mag, also when the engine is running you cannot see an sparks on the points at all, is this normal?
cheers

Hi, i fitted an oversized bultaco piston to my 247 mont and i never used a base-plate. The piston was the same gudgeon pin height, if i remember correctly you put a window in the rear of the piston unless its all ready done and i did my own re-bore to size

Hi,
anyone know if a late 50,s 500 bullet alternator inner chaincase will fit an earlier (1953) dynano 350 bullet engine using the dynamo outer chaincase from my 350 bullet please as i am having probs getting the right one
cheers

Hi, i'm preparing an early bullet 350 for trials and i have come across the letters HCM stamped on the top of the gearbox above the box number, anyone have a clue what they mean if anything?
cheers
Dave
-
Hi , anyone have a rough idea of the best gearing for a 1955 350 bullet for pre 65 trials? Is it done on final drive sprockets or can you change the engine sprocket?
cheers
Dave
-
That would be a victor 441cc and it would have been a road trails type bike a bit like a yamaha xt350 and would make a great trials bike
Dave

Hi, nice bearing but not for your crank. You must use open bearings or prise out the seal but those Aren't C3 BEARINGS. C3 have a larger space between the balls allowing for heat expansion, that bearing will seize if it gets a bit too hot
