  1. Thanks a lot friend!! Perfect quick responce, will order tomorrow. Obviously there is a market for oil taps Cheers,
  2. Hi all, Despite new oil pump / parts (design 1939...) Do need a "oil tap" or keep draining ~250ml before each ride.. Will kindly ask if you might have idea where to search for a tap hose/hose joint not restricting the oil flow...as tiny tap as possible, to be fitted close to the oil tank... Or I have to reweld a tap joint at the bottom of the oil tank... The "output" hose is hidden betwen the engine/gearbox... Father did assemble a rather big tap on his Pre-unit Triumph...where a lot of space is available.. Cheers,

Thanks ausy, Ok, bushes machined for cirlclips, robust enough..? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you prefer first class 2-t trials tuning (modern clubman) of a 175cc Im convinced several experts are offering what you need in the UK! Shipping to US is not cheap but BJ Racing are skilled..(Im planning to focus on TY175 engine rebuild and cost efficient improvements...My TYR have lots of improvements providing impressive performance better than a 3-4y modern spanish. Std TYR porting and std ign-84.) Honestly I have limited experience from 60-70
  4. Hi, Regarding visual frame design, do you know 1. the regulations for Brittish Nationals, SSDT P65......2. what is your reflections of winning bikes...or the match of the first vs the other: about visual frame design per 19641231, James, DOT, FB, C15, Bantam... *double tubes under/around the crank case? *bolted bash plate/tube replacing bended tube/tubes? Cheers,

Hi all, One reflection about big bore conversion using 250cc pistons; different wrist pin diameter TY/YZ/DT 175 vs TY/YZ/DT 250. Do you know if this conversion incl change to none 175cc rod or machining of rod small end for 250cc wrist pin? Forged pistons for mid/late 70

Hi, Does removing the flyweheel weight make much difference? For modern clubman I prefer removing all weight, definatley yes. Time from 3/4 throttle ->shut throttle to idle rpm is reduced vs std flywheel set up, eg riding up in steep section -"stairs", not using clutch the bike continue moving forward with closed throttle..NOK. And offcourse much quicker throttle responce. Honestly..now when my engine perform almost like a modern 250, I will search for a lighter flywheel since idle is still not reached fast enough..probably a new ref adding weight to this. Have increased rear sprocket 35->36 and now riding sections in 2-3rd gear where ealier ridden in 1st, now at much lower rpm as the engine is more powerful close to idle rpm-> AND offcourse top.. Removed flywheel weight offers more precision as wanted in general, riding modern clubman..as well as exact brakes and front susp compr. Eg, climbing up at 2nd-3rd gear at rather high rev, at the highest point in the section you must turn tight and go down steep, immediate stop in other words..then is benefishal reaching idle as quick as possible, offcourse freqvent clutch use is default part of riding.. What improvements can be done to the forks? As I see it Kayaba forks for Yam are the superior classic trials forks per 1984. (if one has the opinion that manufacturing year is a big thing ere which I do not as long as riding classic sections equal to modern clubman.., 38-40mm works perfect with any TS with no esthestic downsides... ) If you want to improve your forks I suggest you do ask suspension experts for help, eg Maxton Engineering. Since the std springs are progressive 80´ish fashion...a compression compromize so to speak. New linear ones has to be ordered and these springs will require different valve performance which has been developed by engineers during the last ~20y. My forks has been laying on the shelf for some years and have now done a rebuild + bling and YZ shield conversion with rebuilt shoes. Now testing W15 Agip for improved compression instead of W7 as before: *End compression is better, to late in the travel and not exact enough vs modern Paioli *Compression is slower -worse vs W7 *Rebound ok, slower but no downside Have tested same sections as ridden with GG front end and except from brake preformance Im surpriced how well it working (unfortunatley went from +5y´old tire to new X-light...) Ive done a complete GG front end conversion because of required brake precision. Did rode modern clubman with a AP 4P caliper + bracket and std forks with satisfaction for many years, the bracket brooke I did the full conversion..Could not believe that improvement of front end handling/front wheel position control could be that great
  7. Hi JC2, Are in to a ongoing VF3 conversion of TY175 (as well as finalized TYR) Have chosen V382A with trials set up. *you do need to grind or polish off ~0.1-0.2mm per LH/RH of inlet.. Will not say anything about performance yet and the engine will not be up and running until...2012-13..The question is not if but how much improvement gained vs std cage 1974. My cage step 3 improvement VF3 of TYR works fantastic! Step 1. Yam std cage/Boyesen (-Jap engineering status per late -70
  8. Great pics, Thanks for sharing. Do you know anything about the result from Pre-65 expert route, top 5? (se a TS with disc brake, just locally accepted I guess, yes?) BR, Pat

Hi, Have finally fulfilled my for 5y maint/improvement plan..Yes, she is running like a dream. Will increase 2-3t at rear sprocket from 10-35, because of more power per crank turn. Did reflect over a need for 36-37 last year at modern clubman..now its absolute required. Embarresing when I looked at the none worn piston because of liner, was.. Unfortunatley Ive changed 3 things not tested separatley this winter: rebore, reedcage from Jons CR125 Boyesen and pipe from Sammys.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary The only improvement idea of mine is reedcage replacement, rest is sum up of what people has done over the ~27y... *machined combustion chamber / squish -BJ Racing *IRI BP6 *stainless pipe .ProMonty *end can (not perfect) -WES GO *rebored very worn liner..-Wiseco Yam IT 69.00mm *nine 30mm cooling/weight red holes thrue fins where accepted *truend crank to 0.02mm *removed all added flywheel weight *reedcage -VF3, set up for trials -MotoTassinari *carb -Keihin for GG *airfilter -Twinair (box volume is far from perfect) chassis re-pos pegs, removed seat unit, replace by seat only for improved air intake, ext shock length...sealed but need replacement now working with fron end update.., GG front end and now blinged wheels (for std front end + YZ-plate) Thanks to Steve providing new Z-spokes and CentralWheels rims ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ engine http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/patscabinet/ProMontypipe60.jpg engine http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/patscabinet/KeihinandVF3specialfortrials.jpg hub http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/patscabinet/polishedrearhub60.jpg wheel http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/patscabinet/blingedrearwheel60.jpg wheel http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/patscabinet/notfinalizedfrontwheelrebuild60.jpg

    TY175 pipe and frame

Thanks alot Andy, Ok, its that tight fitting std. Have looked at some options and accept offcourse one cut/weld.. As I do understand from pics TY down tubes max "width" is close width to crank case front assembly point to frame.. Maybe mini Majesty frames offer more space for pipe bend vs std TY? Thought about Craigs "short" pipe going betewen the down tubes..but the gap at my frame is closer and "TY down tubes angle bottom/top join, seen from front veiw is steaper vs my frame..damn..Thats why I hope my frame offers more space for bend inner radius..fingers crossed..Well well, can order one "std position" from Craig or Sammy and cut it if required, hopefully one time.. BR,
  13. 7075 is gods gift to us :-) up to 70% weight red.. Some examples, confirmation of available design and copy paste: Yamaha TY250R 1984, *stem 7075 adonized 25mm drilled ~18mm hole, perfect condition after 26 hard years *rear spindle 15mm steel, drilled 8mm, I have replaced it with 7075 solid *all nice spindle/stem replacement parts from Craig *cam shaft wheel for eg C15 -yes, big OD and drilled is superior smaller solid of course, eg. all modern front spindle MX, RR, trials... stem at my RR bike, perfect condition
  14. Hi, TY175 pipe/frame questions..which might need to be explained by pics.. Will kindly ask about the measurement at pipe 180dg bend, centre of pipe at exhaust port to LH side of pipe wall after the bend, is it ruffly 70mm (room for RH down tube)? TY175 down tubes at position height ~centre of cylinder exhaust port, is the width from LH side to RH side of down tubes ~140mm? Im using a Cota242 frame and trying to avoid one off pipe.. BR,

    Front brake advice

Hi, Im lucky and did find a first class old fashion industry machine shop, I did provide new drum diam, sent plates and worn shoes. Perfect result same price as new shoes, but correct tolerance per worn drum/shoes :-) Have read some other posting here how to get this job done in UK. BR,
  16. Hi all, Will kindly ask those of you who has converted TYR front brake by YZ plate, does std TYR brake cable fit spot on, except for the nipple size to shield lever. It looks like the YZ lever position require a tiny bit longer cable vs TYR std..I do not have any TYR cable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have tried to order a TYR stem bottom bearing seal from Cane for 3 months now, any suggestion of other suppliers who offers these odd seals, please.. Did order this part ok, for an other rebuild last year... BR,

    ty175 gearing

Hi, Looking for a gearing starting point, rebuilt engine/clutch-high rev and 65kg rider :-) Will kindly ask if any of you do have more ideas than 12-51(11-48)for semi-modern clubman..12-52, 53..starting at 2nd, changing to 1st and ends at 2nd...?? BR,
  19. Hi Mike, I do have an ongoing discussion with MotoTassinari finding a replacement for 175cc std cage (which as I see it looks like a joke..)My best guess is, if someone riding MX/IT125 ~1975 they must have had the same thoughts.. A set up for TYR will be tested soone(VF is my second improvement step, Jons CR125 cage with Boyesen is step one improvement which working a lot better vs std with Boyesen..) VF is the way to go..have great experience from KTM SX/EXC 1995-2005..major improvement. Will keep you updated. BR,
  20. FYI, Jared South West Montesa US did sort out my probs in less than 12h :-) He do provide great support and the required OEM parts for my swinging arm assembly. Yes...offcourse the assembly incl needle bearings..worn out in my case.. BR,
  21. Hi all, Will kindly ask a question to you Cota 242 -83 (or 330) experts. Swinging arm assembled without shocks is not robust, do not know if this is how is suppose to be?? Br,

    TY175 cylinder head

Hi all, Will ask if you do know if some one offers cylinder head nuts for TY175 in alloy? (like Greeves..:-) Have anyone of ever seen a TY175/DT175 or 125 head with eye for frame bracket? eg. like TYS.. Have read about rebuilding of classic street bikes..where re-Zn of fasteners has been done, will kindly ask if any of you can recommend a company who provide this threatment of fasteners? BR, Pat
  24. Borrowing this thread.. Will kindly ask if any of you know, if any one back in the days did rebore/replate 156cc up to 63.0, 63.5 or 64.0? BR,
  25. Thanks for the upload, helps to forget the terrible snow outside for a while.. In your second video...the section ~3.00-10.00 looks very nice from this view. The rider who starts ~5.20 and goes clean in perfect style, who is it? Go Pre-65!! Cheers,
