    Glazed Liner

Hi, ~25h trials riding after the switched to cheap mineral oil; *identical ignition performance minute one-> 4h later, (before only ~30min couple of weeks ago..) *plug is much less sooty, almost perfect *oil drips from the crank case vent as it did this spring with synth oil. My interpretation is that now again a minor overpressure in the crank case occurs due to sealing oil ring as it should.. *nothing but oil has been changed: -similar jets -similar plug heat grade Probably after ~75h tot the crap rings has starting to run in.. Cant wait to switch back to oil that do not fill the engine/pipe with dirt... Cheers,

    Glazed Liner

Thanks a lot for your replies!! Yes, synth is "to good" > not running in..after ~50h trials riding. Instead spots at the liner / rings could have been glazed.. The plug gets sooty NOT wet after ~45min..just brush clean and contiou trialing..:-) This spring I had perfect plug colour during 2d riding, as good coulour as my ZX6... At the rebuild I was very eager to use modern rings because mineral oil is never any option just to get crap iron cast rings working. ...order a one of piston..BUT the workshop confirmed the rings from JP are ok... Will test ride some days with mineral before I dismantle..AND order a new piston.. cheers,

    Glazed Liner

Hi all, Are any of you familiar with glazed liner coursed by fully synthetic oil instead if mineral.. Have not dismantled the head/barrel yet, but some people has talked about glazed liner.. Im not using NOS pre-war iron cast rings, JP and the workshop confirmed steel rings. cheers,

    Tyr, Clutch

Hi, Do you have any opinion regarding available friction plates for TYR clutch, any brand to prefer or to avoid? Ref to the manual thickness 2.9-3.1mm is ok. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Did replace the springs some years ago but will test EBC harder, all or just 3 and evaluate pro/con handling/performance. Have removed worn marks on the basket as well... Last week some long muddy sections required full thottle 2 gear speed from standing still... The improved throttle responce/engine performance now move the focus on clutch/grip performance 2-> gear. ...1 gear clutch grip performance feels perfect but is hard for me to tell, with no experince of moderns :-) cheers,
  6. Thanks, Rare scann loop in JP Std has been welded by former owner, working condition but far from perfect. ...remachining the hole, add a bush for brake arm spindle and "re-positioning" of the stud for other end of the shoes.... (that what is done...rear brake is now absolutley perfect)
  7. Hi, Sorry but I cant find any of the previous postings about TYR front brake improvment by using YZ shield, Will ask any of you who have done this conversion, what year(s) of YZ front shield is working with TYR front hub? Cheers,

    Ty 250 Mono

From experince multi-/single grade for TYR (OT and KTM with Rekluse..) The only oil that works for my TYR gb/clutch is single grade 30w mineral (well, modern mineral contains "emu-cleaner" BUT.....) cheers,

    Amal Mk1

Thanks DAVETOM, B40RT, Im using white tubed Domino, -ultra light with OKO set up. (same grip for my TYR/Keihin29S -ultra light, fathers Sprite with Villiers carb -light) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes, Im weak...but provided A_al spring rate is to hard for my trialing, no doubt about it. Will speak with some spring supplier. Cheers,

    Amal Mk1

Hi, Will kindly ask if any of you have found softer spring rates vs std for Amal MK1 throttle? BR, Pat
  11. Perfect, did receive an answer yesterday. Whats your opinion about gas support or not? There are only pros vs cons for Rock Shocks but, except the fact "no gas support" it seems odd to me if you aim for a state of the art design. Offcource is good performance possible valvewise, but have not seen any other brand choosen this path.. After reading posts a reccomendations I understand people who wants the best possible rear T/S choose betwen Falcon or Rock Shocks. My 30h Betor works ok but not perfect and the two options (if money should be spent) are Magicals or RockShocks, and will go for the last. Cheers,
  12. Thanks for given me hope! Will try a third time :-) Rebuild by your self is the key, stronger than Magicals state of the art spring options. How long lead time, order/delivey? Do you know if the feature different "top eye" and "bottom eye" gives you the opportunity to specify odd eye to eye lenghts..not just std lenghts..? Do you know how well Rock shocks definition of spring rate matches rates of Betor progressive? cheers,
  13. Apologize for stealing the thread.. Have any of you ordered or recieved a pair of Rock shocks lately? Asking because I getting no response from John, are they still in business? Cheers,
  14. Hi, Most likely MP, from memory... did replace seals on fathers Sprite. OT, know a man who replaced Anglian std with Ceriani in 1965. Or probably more accurate, ordered with these as an option because Ive never seen any std forks in his garage..cheers,

    Spindle/bushing

Thanks husky and Wayne, *been recommended to stay with steel, but because of hollow, welding ends with threads is required..:-( *yes, 6026 T6 is worse vs 7075 (T7?) or T8, but did bought 6026 of different diameters for multipurpose..welding and not/axis, spacers.. *Buy T7 or T8 seems like the best solution *anodizing crossed my mind, the workshop who helps me offering hard and for bling ano, but do not know how long time the hard surface will last? *Nikasil... cheers,
  18. Hi, For swinging arm spindle and bushings, I do have room for tiny needle bearings 20mm/32mm. The present design, bushings and hollow steel spindle, worn out.. idea *spindle of ally 6026 *bushing of bronze 5640 *seals and grease nipple Do you think this will work or will seize? Cheers,

    Amal

Hi, Will kindly ask if any of you do know the mesaurements of threads at the back end of Amal MK1 body? I do need to extend the rear end of the carb by ~3" (have seen such solutions somewhere, made of nylon..on a Bantam) Do you think any tube ( for other assemby..?) with matching threads inside is available? I might can use a std part, Polished Alloy Bellmouths, but dont know if its perfect to seal the air boot to a chone. BR,

    Rear Rim

Hi, Im confused.. reading at a well known classic trials dealers site..their default recommendation is 18" x 1.85" rim for e.g. Cub rear assembly. Are you satisfied with rear end trials set up: 4-5psi, 1.85" ally rim and available 4.00? (well, people did use 1.6" x 19" rear for trials and scrambler back in the days.........and agriculture vehicles did perform with none "rubbered wheels" at driven axles in an other century... ) cheers,

    Sherpa In Action

A fantastic job done! The engine set up sounds perfect, Im very impressed of the pipe. I have ridden a -82 std Sherpa in one competition, not perfect condition.. but the power of 340cc felt very tired ..well, must have been suffered from a weight close to 95-100kg If they do accept these forks, I do..cant see any reeds conversion but I think it should be accepted as well ref to TY175/250 from mid 70
  23. Hi, Will ask any of you TYZ riders, if you do know however TYZ stanchions and stem are parallell? Looking at pics they seems to be parallell. cheers,
