  1. Normally just get it started into the muffler then twist and push a bit to seat it in cylinder against the gasket. Set your flange and install screws and snug it up evenly.
  2. Don't judge by plug color after puttering around on a trials bike. Just give it a good hard run and some high revs on occasion in order to keep things blown out. If it runs good it is good.
  3. Still looks good, but I'll betcha she still drops half a load in her sweater!
  4. They do flow continuously as there is no thermostat to prevent it, but not sure just how much you can see. As the motor warms the radiator should as well if coolant is circulating, and it will take a while to get things up to the 95C or whatever it is set at to close the thermo switch and enguage the fan.
  5. Welcome, now get rid of the other bikes as they will only hurt you. Take your new toy to Trials Training Center in TN as it is not too far. It is a good time of year for that!
  6. WoW, now that is something new reported! In the last 17 years, I have only heard of one other broken gear tooth on a Sherco, yet nothing is impossible!
  7. I have to ask if you even really know what sort of spark you are looking for! Them things will only throw a weak blue spark that one may only see in a dark shed! And then only .5mm!
  8. Sounds about right to me! Your idle is a bit high, however, a gasser rattles a lot from the clutch when just sitting like that. Pulling the clutch lever and placing into gear loads the components and settles them down.
  9. nd a NEW plug! They are inexpensive.
  10. Most common shifting issue on Sherco would be a broken spring on the selector. You need to inspect that and find the broken piece before it damages something else.
  11. Never heard of that. What started this, did you crash or hit something?
  12. I believe most run air cooled motors at 50:1 with modern oils.
  13. Leo, I di not have a Hidria on my older bike to test, however it appears to me that the hall effect sensors would be in the FIXED pick up plate and not in the actual stator coils used for making the power. I agree that 7mm BTDC for a base timing sounds excessive, and yet it seems you have no other running symptoms or kickback. If I am thinking correctly, moving the stator plate on this will not change the timing. I would suggest contacting Chris at Splatshop via email to see if he can give you other info or ideas and possibly just throw a strobe on a bike for comparison. He may even be able to help with some parts to try if needed, as it seems you may not be lucky enough to have a lot of other Sherco's around you to swap parts. Refer him to this thread if he is not already aware, as he is a busy guy it seems. Keep us posted.
  14. Is there insulation on your fender? Obviously one may experience heavy smoking and an actual fire in the exhaust when they get too loaded with oil. Also slow(retarded) ignition will put a lot of excess heat into the muffler due to incomplete combustion and excess hydrocarbon downstream. A restricted exhaust will get hot as well.
  15. Adult only, do not watch this! Rednecks only!

    Stolen TLR250

Hate to hear that, Jim. What a beauty!
  17. if the skid plate has been hard hit it can push the rubber up into the clutch side case and bend it or break the seal causing a leak.
  18. Drinking beer while balancing the bike.
  19. Plug into the two wires in the harness that have been jumpered!
  20. This may help. Likely need two seals and the shaft. http://shercousa.com/pdfs/Water_Pump_Seal_Replacement.pdf
  21. When Bou started out with them he was a good rider along with Fajardo as I recall but below the top guys, THEN Things Change! Never heard of thie Busto kid until a year or so ago, and now he is on the second rung of the podium? Really? Wonder when they will pick up Sandra Gomez and give her the stuff to make the Baws Grow?
  22. I cannot recall the exact numbers, but fast is like 1/2 turn to full open and the other is like 5/8 turn, so the latter progresses a bit less with a given amount of twist.
