  1. Most do not weld aluminum, not designed for that, just flush it out.
  2. That's pretty cool, and I can leavt it to play a Beatles medley in the background!
  3. Craik the line at the MC to see if it is holding pressure! (Billy will get this)
  4. And all the issues about how to make them work properly, volumes and volumes!
  5. New pistons are matched to the cylinder by re-plating and diamond hone to the proper fit. You send the piston in with the barrel to the platers, takes several weeks in most cases. Installing a larger piston in an old bore is a waste in most cases.
  6. Yes, I think this is correct. Oh, you can, but you still gotta get a few revs in it periodically to keep the capacitors charged up or the voltage that runs things will drop below critical level and the flame goes out. I have often wondered if a small reserve battery would help this, much like the starting battery on the Ossa? The Mont will chug, just not for extended periods by my experience, while the Beta seems to chug along nicely and the CV carb still responds near as well as the FI on the Mont.
  7. If it is not " Fast and Stupid" the youth are not excited!
  8. They sure changed a lot of stuff for a bike that was soo well designed to begin with!
  9. Sure you can get around it, till it stalls and spits you over the bars!

    Beta 80 Clutch Woes

Are you saying the clutch will not disengage? Clutch plates sticking together in a trials bike is common. Fresh gear oil helps many times. So does placing into a higher gear, pulling lever and rocking the bike prior to startup to insure they break free.
  11. Get a quote on the parts from a dealer.
  12. Sounds like crank seal time.
  13. " flush out all the old brake fluid from the system, refill with new and bleed all the air out until the lever has a solid feel, then fit some new Goldfren pads with S33 pad material." This DOES NOT mean flush the system with brake cleaner! Simply exchange the fluid, if you must. Many times the brakes will firm right up and perform well if the pads are not contaminated by simply dragging the brake for a bit to get some heat into them, then steaming them off by dousing with water. From a bottle!
  14. Might try Mike at the Tryals Shop. www.tryalsshop.com He is in NY. 315-497-3268
  15. Jim, I seem to recall the Williams sisters, one or both, riding them 200's in nationals back in the day. Rattled like a box of rocks while they smmothly beat the majority of the guys in support class on the yellow peril!
  16. Good chains with half link availability are expensive as well Nothing wrong with 11teeth as most modern bikes will tell.
  17. Jim, are pistons still like unobtainimum for these?
  18. Yes! Riding a pogo stick may be great for hopping, but it makes finding and holding grip very difficult! Even some pro riders prefer more over less, but finding your balance is up to you. I think a bit more and to err in that direction is better for most average riders overall.
  19. Yes, as stated, the woodruff key(keyway) is the only thing to align on the flywheel. Then proper torque of the retaining nut. If it is out of time it will still spark the plug, just at the incorrect time. Engine may not run.
  20. Should be an index line on top of stator plate that aligns with top casting Web right edge.
  21. Yes, Jim. Just PM them or tell them they may PM you if you can help. Not a big deal, but it does keep the bartering and a lot of other BS off the forum pages. Still glad to see you offer assistance when you can.
  22. Just how would that compare to the loop at TTC?
