I have been running a little experiment of late, using the Mobil 1 synthetic ATF for the last month. No ill effects that I can detect. Maybe slightly quicker action as compared to the stock IPONE stuff. Some may like that!
Plates still stick after sitting, but seem to break loose quickly!

Gee Ronnie, that explains Everything, order them NOW Steve!
-
Looke like Christy Williams is still in the frey.
Too bad our little Sherco rid'in lass is not there, hu Craig!
-
I think it one of them Spanyards!
-
Al,
If we could get Hanna to drive, we could all wait till after dark, throw them all in the back of a pick-up and take um around to some of the local hot spots!
I seem to recall a really nice bar outside of Jasper towards Rankin Cove. Im aimost sure we could bring everyone in and get back out in one piece, with a little of that DUKES OF HAZARD crap in the driveway thrown in! Back before midnite! Trial Riders er'tough you know!
-
Al,
Unlike that stuff you guys have, that Mexican Cactus Juice is still safe around electrical appliances and cooking equipment and will not melt the blender bowl.
You just need to mix it up with some ice and suck it down with a straw on a hot day so you are sure to get a good BRAIN FREEZE to go along with the buzz!
Will your's run in a Diesel Too? Does it clean fuel injectors?
-
Alan,
This forum thing does provide for imput for possible proposals to NATC reps.
I also realize you are playing "Devil's Advocate" and making good points here.
I will point out a couple of things here that I do want to make sure are understood and I have tried to point out at some point.
1- The current crop of top kids that include kids like Pat Smage and Cody Webb do not want to ride 1.25's. Ask them! (not sure Cody's age now but I seem to recall Pat still being 15 or near 16)
2- A 1.25 class would need to basically start out as a "fun" class for all, untill things matured, that atracted riders!
3- It would be a long road to getting a 1.25 Pro class that had people committed to WTC competition without "Olympic" type support! We here do good to put together a TDN team as it seems! Ask Mich what it costs to go ride a Euro event, I think he has recent knowledge with Deb.
If you examine these things closely, you may wonder if even with the best of intent, anything would ever mature! But without it we may never know!
Anyway, on to more important things, I have two questions, one stupid, one not, you figure out which is which.
1- Alan, are you bringing a blender to the cabin?
2-Trialsurfer, why don't you just send Chris to Europe for the summers?
Just my thoughts.
I need a beer now! My brain hurts!
I hope you guys figure out all the worlds problems!
Speaking of gas prices, Al, do you think them blokes would pay in US$ for a blenderbender?
Cheers,
MC

I heard someone made the bloody traitor a deal deal could not refuse!
2 wheels and 4 strokes, thats all that matters!
-
That set up is for a Sherco you know, the processs may not work on others like a Mont., but it should put the crossbar at or just past verticle.
-
I would think it is possible, specially if you are not accustomed yet or are getting tired and putting a lot of weight on the hands, stay centered!
Lots of opinions about bar positions, but I will tell you mine that came from upon high. Loosten bars and rotate forward. Insert straight allen wrench into forward mount bolt. Bring bars back untill crossbar touches wrench. Tighten them down with equal spacing of caps front and rear. Done!

After 2, 2.9 bikes my current bike of choice is an '05, 2.5!
After a bit ov tweaking, it is as smooth as a baby's butt! Sweet! Plenty of power!
I really do not miss the bigger torque of the 2.9!
I also have a 1.25(wifes bike) that I ride sometimes in club events! It will go anywhere I put it if I work the throttle and clutch a bit! Makes me feel like Caby when I rev the crap out of it and let the hammer down!
It's an ego thing, you know!
-
Got mine at Home Depot for 79.00. HD model w/steel legs, works great!
-
Well, lets hear it then, did you make it fit?
-
Oh,
300ml on a drain and fill vs 330 per leg on a clean and dry repair is about right!
-
I do recall trying either a 7.5 wt or 10 several years back and it beat my wrists on impacts!
It always seemed odd to me that the Sherco manual calls for 4wt, or at least it used to, but just try to find 4wt?
You can try knocking off the top dust seal by tapping with a screwdriver, cleaning the inner seal area and getting a piece of 35mm film to run between the fork tube and seal to dislodge any dirt that may be allowing it to leak.
Some light lube between the dust seal and inner seal will catch what gets through, or get some Seal Savers, you know the neoprene thingies that keep the mud off the wipers in the first place, they really work!
Another last thing that crossed my mind is the fact that the front mudguard will SLAP the front tire on impacts making a sharp raspy noise!
My 2 cents,
MC
-
I think you might want to go back to the 5wt.
For whatever reason, not all manufacturers viscosity ratings are the same it seems.
The Maxima oil works ok and Ryan has it here in the states but I dunnot know where you are located or what is available. Ck with a dealer near you to see!
Cheers,

I noticed some "topping out" on both my '01 and '03 bikes, never gave it much thought, but I have not really noticed it on the '05, Maybe a change of oil would help a bit?
I normally use the 5wt, but 7.5 wt is also acceptable i believe.
I found the latter to be a bit harsh on impact compression for me and my weight! Maybe just me!
That is all I know!

Alan,
I'm no advocate of the FIM, but at least their trackrecord seems to show a willingness to try new things in an effort to better trials.
Some similarity to the Euros and the FIM, WTC, and the rest of the world is not a bad thing!
Yes, there would be a few p****d off old timers because they would not neccessarily be able to "own" an age class for five years without much competitiion! Or maybe just ride the Sportsman class and maybe we would get a better TRUE national ranking within the group, instead of having everyone want to be a class champ! The AGE classes are as big or bigger
as the main SP class for gods sake!
Slippery slope? Both the limits are already set! 125 and 250!
Slippery slope? I would prefer a SR Amature class where OVER 200 pounders could ride what they want, and the rest of us have 250cc or less so the hp/wt ratio is proportionate and there are "little bitty" split gates around the hard stuff! That way, a couple hundred more of us actually could RIDE a National event without killing ourselves! The MONEY would DOUBLE! Geese, what an idea!
I need another beer now!
-
Alan,
Are there already enough classes to add a 1.25 class, or are there TOO MANY classes already? Yes, adding a 1.25 class is a problem. Adding a 1.25 class that anyone can ride is less of a problem as there may well be others outside the teen age group that want to ride it!
Trying to see both sides of the coin here, that is also why a simpler age class of 30,40,50,60,70 would help level things out! Competition within classes would increase as well, or for those who opt to do so there is still SP or ES at either end of the spectrum.
I realize that this is radical thinking compared to the existing NATC format,
but I do believe that riding the 1.25's requires more skill and better tecnique and they teach the rider to use a better riding style and this is a plus for rider development!
And that is also where even the most excellent kids like Dman have to learn that "IT'S NOT THE BIKE, DUDE!" It's a SKILL thing! That 280 Gasser will not get you past a skilled rider on a 1.25! But it WILL make you lazy while relying upon power to get you around!
-
Dman, seems I recall that a good part of the HS class ride 1.25 as it is.
I think Ronnie Commo is on the 1.25 in EX!
Just be glad you are not competing against Ray Peters on a 1.25!
-
Would not take too much to strobe the timing on both bikes to compare. Seems to be some funny things going on lately with those stator coils!
-
I really hope Alan and Mich don't get too warm and fuzzy over this stuff! If they ever totally make up and start exchanging spit, I think I'm gonna puke!
Two things, what is wrong about having a 1.25 class in the US nationals for those who want to ride it, and a resulting 1.25 class champion?
What is wrong with limiting kids under a certain age to 250cc if they want to compete in National level trials. If Brent can campain a 250cc with great success, why cannot others? If you have not yet seen him on that bike, you are in for a treat!
It has little to do with the displacement of the bikes! But it Does show the character of the rider! That may be the most important thing and cannot be overlooked! You cannot pressure the kids too much, but if you have ever witnessed the HS class kids practicing together, you begin to see that much of the drive comes from within when the oppertunity is provided. It is a shame that these kids cannot ride together more often!
The Youth Nationals is not a competition as much as it is a GET TOGETHER for many fo these kids, but that is another story!
I need a beer now,
MC

Try the reed block off the other bike then!
-
Yep, I was referring to the 1.25.
I think the Dellorto "fits" into the available space better as well.
