What is on the bike? A 9/44 setup?
-
Did you perform the Ish's proper mods to keep the water out in the first place and ck it after washing the bike?
-
Another trick is to lay the bike over on its side momentarily which will spill a bit of fuel over into the intake. Seems to work!

There are a signifigant number of smart asses too!
Luckily, we have Mich Lin to inform us if we need to know about anything!
Thank God!

That is Really Nice! OUCH!

I have heard of some folks enlarging the enrichment jet to help improve starting in cold whether. I think you have to drill it out a bit.
Migh t see if someone has done it?

Must belike a Heim joint(politically corrected)! Go Figure!

If the kickstart gear fits a bit loose on the shaft it can cause this as it moves and rubs the other gear. Move the start lever to see if the noise changes.
Not to much of a problem if the noise is only slight.
Try it!

I am not sure what oil is recommended by Beta, but most bikes perform fine with ATF as long as the clutch does not seem too grabby, and ATF is inexpensive so you can change it often. It is roumoured that some clutch materials are reactive to modern engine oil additives and that they should be avoided in lew of the more expensive MTF oils designed for motorcycles. That is a topic upon itself that I cannot comment on except I recall my old Sherco came with a sticker that said "Sherco recommenda Valvoline" so I ran the Valvoline synthetic (US)10w30 in the gearbox with no problems over two years.
Continuous slippage oo the clutch is a problem and will burn the plates. If the clutch will hold enough to kill the motor when stopped it should be ok I would think.
Although you may be entering "test pilot" status, the basic principals still apply.
If the clutch pack does not use an even number of springs, normally six, then there will be a problem with removing springs creating uneven force on the plates which is not good.
I pulled up the Beta parts illustration and it was poorly illustrated and did not tell how many springs there were for the little 50.
Let us know what you find.
Cheers,
MC

Forgot to mention to be sure the springs are opposite each other in the circle!
-
If the clutch basket is conventional with six springs, try pulling out two, then test to see if the clutch slips under load in the higher gears. If not then it's ok.
-
did anyone mention removing a couple of the clutch springs to make it easier to pull?

The welding process typically warps the barrel and reboring or replating may be neccessary after a weld repair that close to the bore.
-
The previous year(short) header pipe is also used to quicken it up a bit along with the Kiehin.

Don't worry there Ringo old pal, I'll talk them into coming out to TTC to watch and meet my friend the "Champion of the World" who can't ride the event because he hurt his knee.
Work on your fake French accent or something and change shirts so they don't think you're the champ of Hawaii.
If you play the "pity" card, theyll get you beer all day!

Surely there is a Hooters in Chattanooga!

And the Sherco? By comparison?

If i remember correctly the tool is a section of 1.5in PVC pipe about 18in long.
Cost about 2bucks at the hardware store.

ps- Geoff has been beaten in the past, he is not a god, just a very good rider and has a good attitude. He comes to ride!

There you go again! Which one is Mary Poppins?
The old dude , or the young one?
Both from Cali, either could kick your ass! Take your pick!
If you had 100 of them, you could be National #101! What a treat!
"I scored a point and showed them youngsters something!"
If you want to be a mentor, be a "minder" like Ryan, put forth the real effort or shut up!

I have not tried to install one on the 1.25, but I have on the 2.9 and there is a clearance problem with the bowl hitting the engine case. It barely fits the 2.9 and a bit of fancy trimming may be neccessary to make things fit properly.
On the 1.25, there is not as much room to work with as the intake sits lower and I cannot see how it will fit properly as I am sitting here spying the two next to each other.
Nor have I heard of anyone doing it, as the stock 26mm seems sufficient for the motor.
The 2.9 header pipe is more commonly used, i believe , to help extract a bit more power although I can tell you that I have done that on the wifes bike and I cannot tell much difference. Of course I am not a WTC jr class rider and do not operate casually at 6000 rpm. I do leave the pipe on there so when I ride the bike it will GLH! Fun to ride!

A bit of aluminum (weld) and file it to its original profile!
