  1. This year I have been mostly using WD40! Just for an experiment - all this year I've been using only WD40 to lube the chain. It was a new Iris chain on new sprox & guess what - It lasted just as long as one lubed with good old sticky chain spray. I.E. one season. I ride most weekends and a few of the more interesting events - Reeth, Verdon etc so the bike does a lot of miles, for a trials bike. The theory was the chain has less dirt sticking too it & looks cleaner (prettier!) too.

    Open Face

A while back I was looking for same, for off road and road use. Got a Bell tourlite open face and added a peak from the moto 6. Good quality hat with removeable lining, but seems not available over here now. Still sold in States, but looks a slightly cheaper version. There are lots of commuter hats from China now, plus a few intended for the Classic road market, but few quality (if any) for Enduro. The answer is to buy a full face and cut the chin bit of. That's what my mate did......
  3. I'll second that, great trial, thanks guys. I'd like to see results too. Will they be here? http://www.hillsboroughtrials.co.uk/ Forgot to mention, a few pics here http://picasaweb.google.com/motomerlin Tried to take one of Jordi, But he was so fast it came out a blur...
  4. All rev 3 have same bearings front & rear 60042RS. up to 2006 model. I assuime 07 same... Only
  5. Not my idea - came from RRND club news. I've never tried it (I made drift as described). It might mess up inner alloy tube, but will do the job.
  6. For rear wheel........get a mate with lathe to turn up a drift same profile as outer spacers , but solid. This does what R2W socket achieves. Other method is insert expanding bolt - from your other mate, the builder, I think they're used to fix plaster board etc - expand in middle of wheel & drift bearing & tube out.

    Colmore Cup

I'll be up for a clubman route, as will a few fellow wobblers too.
  8. Ridden M2S a few times. Its a Long Distance Trial intended for Trail & Enduro bikes. Sometimes these events have a class for Trials bikes, check with organisers. Usually its full before closing date though.
  9. Brilliant trial, sections spot on - even the 3 or 4 stinkers needed for an expert result - great thanks are due to all the clubs involved. Any results spotted yet? I need to see how late I was on Sunday - I've a reputation to keep you know...
  10. Hey, Surrey & Sussex are there too. Cracking trial, missed it last year. First rode it in 1986 on TLR250, blimey thats 20 years ago.
  11. A couple more pics, the first is The King of Bling Nigel G. And the second is the Wheelie King and sometime minder to the stars, Kevin O.
  12. Yes, Thats the man. JMB - the only man to spank the yanks at both Supercross & MX, went on to ride 250 & 500 GP (road race). Always keeps a trials bike & rides the Verdon each year - sometimes only a day or two if he's testing for Suzuki.
  13. Is the decline in Sammy Miller entries due to the riders getting old? I.E. riders who rode pre 65 when it was 1965 or so are now too old to handle an old bike (mostly). Similar to the rise in interest in Twinshocks/bultacos is from todays forty year olds, who have a bob or two to spend, reliving their youth.
  14. Yes, nothing like the SSDT....warm , dry , sunny and....proper lunch stops. 20 years ago I found the Scottish too hard for my body & wallet. So France it was. While Verdon is the best of the French trials, (IMHO) we could have done with a few more sections per day this year and some, on the green route, were very simple. However the course and day 3 in particular, was superb. Lets hope it runs next year. Mike H Bruno going up the wall
  15. And here's one I took earlier. Top of the hill day 5.
  16. Photos from Verdon 06 ..day & night.. can be found here: http://www.photostrial.com/
  17. Didn't take many photos, here one of Section 12. The final climb only managed bt the top 5 riders.
  18. Well...my team (Horsham Riders/RRND) was 11th (erm...from last) and dead last!! After all we have a reputation to maintain. Thoroughly enjoyed the trial...how could you not with that weather? Wee bit too hot on the Friday though. Nice to have some new sections (to me) & different routes on the Friday & Sunday. That Sunday extra loop was spectacular (see pic) and that day squeezed a few more marks out of the Clubmen too. Huge thanks to all the Richmond Club lads & lasses involved in what must be a massive task. Mike H Here's another pic, earlier on the third day. In the near rush to keep up with the flow of the trial I forgot I was carrying the camera round. Decided to take it easy on day 3 & blow time, in a failed effort to improve in the sections. So time for a few pics. Pleased to see time scubbed for day 3.......having said that I guess we were the only two late!
  19. I too tried v-force reed block & found it flatten the power & restricted it. It seems the reeds are just too stiff. This was on an 05 250. Maybe it works on the 270 only.... I've tried several reeds over the years and only found Boyesen to be any better than std stuff. (I have Boyesen on the Pampera) Trying to get these for the Rev 3, but UK supplies slow. I have a VHST here, one of the first batch, & I must try this again, with the mods/jets suggested here (thanks, chaps). I see the original photo I took of the first VHST is still doing the rounds.

    Flywheel Puller

Trying to find out which puller fits a Sherco flywheel Anyone got one care to give me the Spec? I've got Gasser & Beta ones, might they fit? Obviously no Sherco to hand right now! Thanks in advance
  22. One ride on the new fourstroke was enough?
  23. In most UK LDTs trials bikes are not allowed, or at best have a separate class. So best bet is a Long Ride, or a Pampera...
  24. Do your carb mods as suggested. I run one size under main & pilot 27.5 & 145, feel this helps too. Also run about 70:1. Have used this set up on 5 Rev-3s now & all ran perfectly. Next to no leakage & good fuel range too. Best speak to your dealer & check if he's up to speed with Beta mods. I do float mods to all the bikes I sell, there's no point running them std. Also - repack that silencer with proper loose packing, std Beta packings not up to much...
