Regs are out for the next round of the SC Group trial series.
Its enter in advance only. Should be 3 laps of 12 sections in prime Surrey woodland. Regs from www.hrc1.org or see news article.
Unfortunately wrong date was entered on Calendar - it is on May the 14th of course. But I'm sure you all worked that out......Mike H

Newer the better - 02 had bigger airbox, and 03 (I think..) lighter shock & lighter wheel. All were worthwhile improvements. I wouldn't reccommend an 00 or 01, unless they were silly cheap.

Beta Racing Head is different profile/shape from std head.
Std head is smooth bell shape.
Racing head has pronounced squish etc - well you've seen the pic.
I tried a Clerch head with similar profile on an 05 & it softened power.
What you need to know is if the Beta Racing head raises compression over Std head. Also available are thinner base gaskets that will raise compresion, so maybe thats how its done.
Must admit I'm tempted to try the Beta Racing head, not that I need more power (more skill , yes). I just like to know what its effect is!

If engine is sound - fit fast throttle, remove flywheel for intant zip.
Thinner base gaskets are available too.
However 03 engines are softer tuned than 04/05 units.

GGblue, I didn't take many pics. Was trying to ride trial too. No no27s visible.
There are a couple of pics of riders, erm, taken from behind...
Hopefully I'll post gallery later.
I'll echo Jordi & Woodys comments & say thanks for a good course that took millions of threes from me - so was about right then - & thanks to the observers too, finding 20 must be hard.

Always use the proper silentsport loose packing. A little tedious to use, but by far the best for response & feel. Transformed my 06.

Possibly 10 years ago I tried Boyer system on my cub (SH engine with TL carb) and it would either rev OR plonk. Depending on where you set timing. If you set for even tickover then it had the flat spot symptoms you describe (unrideable IMHO). Before I fitted Boyer there was no flat spot (points & coil). So I returned ignition to Boyer for testing & they said it was okay..........& sent it back!!
It was then I gave up with the cub, I was spoilt by my modern bike you see. Much less prep time = more riding. I still have the cub & will clean it up for selling one day soon.

Grants are available to plant trees in fields. No doubt depends on size of field.
On going yearly grant for path cutting & tree spraying too. If a fields got no potential plant a forest! Tree cover will hide your motorcycling activites too....BUT trees take a very long time to grow.

For durability - I'd favour the TXT. I've had loads & still run a Pampera 280. Engine is still real sweet after three years.
As for Pro vs Beta - I'd go for Beta. I've had 4 & no probs at all.
-
Waterpumps vulnerable - in rocky terrain. Ask if owner has pump guard.
Check chassis bearings.
Listen to a few at trials & get one with a quiet engine!
Likewise rear silencer - after a year it needs repacking - not easy - so get a quiet one.
Middle exhaust boxes can split/burst - but I'm not sure you can see this before it goes......but have a look.

I've ridden 6 trials on my new toy now & have only been required to wear a hat twice so far. Four of my local clubs are AMCA (running modern bike trials). I've never felt the need to don plastic locally. If I rode in a rocky centre that might be different. Actually only a few riders go hatless here out of choice, its mainly the old gits (like myself) - but long may that freedom of choice continue. So how can events run? Because even the insurers recognise there is such a small risk involved - and they pay the claims!
-
Rabie - is that correct open face helmets banned in MX & Enduro?
I need to know as I'm tempted to try an odd enduro or two this year.
I have a full face hat, but find it restictive & claustrophobic.
