The Horsham Riders two day camping trial scheduled for this weekend has been put back two weeks due to global wetting.
It will now run on the 14/15th July in glorious sunshine.
Check HR web for further news.

Rabie,
Please use the www.hrc1.org link for Horsham Riders Club.
That gets you to the latest news!

Very pleasant ride round, sections a little on the easy side, I thought. Still a rather calmer day than the Hill Climb the previous evening.
I added some pics to my "Today's Classic" post, mainly twinshocks.

Pete,
link to entry form posted earlier. I'm about to send off 7 or 8 entries, Yes you'll need turds etc plus a camelback - It'll be hot. Sections severity would be similar or easier than SSDT on blue route, but a lot depends on how the heat affects you. Terrain is very grippy rocks & gullies (apart from one infamous section). There are some factory/dealer vans there. You'll need a road legal bike with a bar pad - for some reason the French are fussy about bar pads. Summer riding kit , with maybe a lightweight top in case of thunderstorm...

I've added a few more pics from the recent Sammy Miller trial at Rhayader. Here's a taster - a green Maj!
-
I'd give the 24 PWK a go on my 200, but I've only seen PWK copies and with a power jet fitted. The copies are cheap though...
-
Stu,
The French call all their 3 - 5 day trials Classics - all are for modern bikes, but there's nothing to stop you riding some old nail if you wish...
Looks like they have all the usual classes - Expert through to Promotion (wobblers). Interesting Day 3 - open free format trial & no I'm not sure what that is either.

Okay, other French Trials...
Sardent 4 days, about 14th July, thats the one Dabster refers to. Lots of English riders do this. I haven't for a few years.
There's a new 3 dayer on in August. La Nouvelle Classique des 3 Jours des Monts d'Azur with the Trial Happy Ecole, but its a very long way south.
Others you've missed or this year - Indre 3 day at Easter - rode this year and it was brill, its the nearest & have moderate section plotters!
And there's the Aveyron 4 day usually in late May
-
Best bet is a Cycling goretex jacket - wait for the sales - half price! & cheapo nylon trousers over your usual trials kit. Invaluable on the day were neoprene backed gloves & several pairs of dry gloves off any sort really.
-
This trial winds its way up the Verdon Valley & so we stay at Digne le Bains, then Andre les Alpes & finally Val D'Allos. I see one day finishes at the Trials Park this year, so we may try the chalets there. We usually spend a morning "warming up" at the Boade venue. I just go for a gentle trial ride, whilst the younger riders with us usually crash too much and then have a panic stricken rebuild on their hands or the next days start. I'll have to see if I can spot the WTC sections, only to walk of course!!
-
Yes, regs are out see http://www.boade.com/
& yes thats the venue of the recent World Round & a brilliant place to ride. Usually there are only 4 or 5 sections in this vast trials park which you enter from the hills above. This years route looks better planned than last year when one monster long ride was great fun, but made for a very late dinner/hotel etc.
My pics from 02 - 06 are here: http://picasaweb.google.com/motomerlin
& I wrote a little about the earlier trials here: http://www.motomerlin.co.uk/moto/tales.html
There should be 3 or 4 of us going down this year, get in touch if you're interested,
Mike

There is a real easy (free) fix for the leaky carb - check these forums or ask any knowledgable Beta dealer or rider...
-
Found a way to post images now............
Neat design, saves width & weight, but tucked away in the engine's bowels, so if damaged full strip required.
-
-
Coincidentally regs are out for the 5 Jours du Verdon.

IMHO the best trial in France.....
-
It's the gear selector mechanism placed inside the selector drum - saves width.
I'd post a pic, but can't seem to do that anymore...
-
Interesting......is there another trial locally on the Monday?

Pic was taken at the Lancs County round a couple of years ago. Belongs to a local rider, possibly.

Jumbo, try the bigger float valve - 250 or 300.
Also try the HE needle jet as this seems specific to the VHST
-
I used the 105 main too. I suspect the float valve or, just maybe, the different spec needle jet as the problem.
What is the diffference between as HE & K needle jet?
Interested to see If you find cure.

Entry list added to HR web page

Well, yesterday I fitted a VHST to my 175 Gasser. These come with same std carb/jetting as 125 (so one of 'ems wrong!).
It could be the float vlave, as I understand these need upsizing to 250 or 300 to work. See posts on this forum somewhere - lots on the Beta page.
The VHST uses the HE needle jet, I assume that's different than orig carb.
Anyway, I started with 266HE, D36, S37, 300 float valve & clip 2 from top. I only used the 266 as no 268s were available.
After testing, I lowered needle clip to groove three and then went to pilot 34.
I'm using Boyesen reeds and the small flywheel too.
Definately an improvement, before the 175 was a right wizzer, almost too much go. Now the go is still there when required, but the bottom half of rev range is smoother & has more torque, feels like a trials motor now! I could ride tight dry sections in 3rd & 4th now, not ideal, but a good test to see if you've progessed with the tuning.
