Has anyone found a good colour match or paint code for the Beta frames in white? It may be that Beta used powder coat originally but I'd like to touch up repair some paint damage? Beta uk don't have any 2021 frame tank decals in stock which I'd also like.
Thanks
I have freed off the clutch then tied in the clutch lever for the time being. I have ordered some thin 16mm ID 22mm OD Shims / Washers and I'll have a go at getting the clutch to disengage so my son can find neutral too!! I will have a look at the plates too while in there to see if worn or glazed. May also see if the slave cylinder can be bled removing any free play. To me the clutch is not being pushed out enough to free the plates and I would expect this alone will increase plate wear.
Thanks, Yesterday I was riding around the field for sometime working the clutch in / out until it finally freed off. Very dangerous on a child's bike. I've never known such a poor set up on a bike. Oil is fresh and adjusted free play etc. Bike only left a week. Bike is only a year old so clutch not been out yet.
Yes it seems a good little bike apart from the clutch and starting problems we had. The light throttle is a little too sensitive for the learning boys so they are frightened of it at present. They will slowly get used to the clutch, throttle and standing up but a long way off completing yet. Lots more practice needed.
Ok thanks, I've taken the carb off and cleaned it finding a tiny bit of debris in the bowl. Jets all clear and blown through and float heights are within spec. New plug also ordered. Fuel is just unleaded pump fuel mixed at 70 to 1 as per Beta recommendations? Inline fuel filter cleaned too so hope it stops letting us down.
Yes we have the wrist lanyard and only kick start in neutral. I've had the carb off and cleaned it and checked the jets. All seems ok but found a tiny bit of debris in the carb bottom. Jets all blown through and clean. Also ordered a new spark plug just to try.
We had our first day out with our bike ( 2021) and my son's are just learning how to use a clutch so they were running around in first gear mainly. One fell off and the other one stalled the engine a few times. The problem we had was the bike often would not start again after it stopped. Have I got a faulty bike as we got very frustrated after spending ages kicking it over to no avail. My first thought was flooding with a 2T but why after it was running ok? We ended up giving up and coming home early sadly. Very frustrated with it.
Thanks just can't believe the Italians can get away with it after years of production. I May whip clutch out next time the oil change is due to clean it up.
My sons and I have Just bought our first bike 2021 EVO 125 and as soon as we put her in gear after starting it, it shot off when the clutch was supposed to be disengaged? Have we bought a dud with a knackered clutch?? I had a read of the Clutch Thread below but not sure if this is a fault or if it can be adjusted before full strip down?? When warmer it got a bit better but still felt to drag a little?
My sons now have a 2021 Beta Evo 125 we found from a local club member. The engine is stamped 2019 which has me worried its is a 2021? Sadly it has blown my budget big time but I thought as its a local lad we will mix with at trials then he should not rip us off. Several have recommended the Beta bikes but I reserve judgement.
We just had our first go in the garden today and the clutch didn't disengage and the bike shot off when put in gear? After it warmed up it is dragging less but to me it shouldn't drag at all so have I been diddled? I noticed its hydraulic but is there any adjustment on them to get it to disengage when cold??? One son has promptly fallen off but I guess that's normal and he is not used to a clutch. Both circled the garden a few times ok however.
Being an old bugger, I think for me I may look for a classic twin shock with a seat but the budget could be a problem!!
Looking for a bike for myself and a 125 starter for my son(12). Budget is about £1500 each so it looks like mid to late 2000's models. So what do we look fork a SH bike as it's a bit of a mine field with bike types and brands. I am a good mechanic so don't mind some resto work occasionally.
Which bikes have the best spares availability ?
Are some parts unobtainable already?
Which are the easiest to get on with?
Which brands should be avoided?
Which models are the ones to search for and why?
Are certain engines used in a number of machines?
Are some bikes fragile?
How can you tell if a 2 stroke is knackered as many of them claim rebuilds?
Are bikes as good after a rebuild or never the same as I gues not all parts are replaced during builds?
Thanks everyone.
Thank you let's hope my son takes to it. If we get a practice pass but don't compete yet would we still need an ACU licence? Does he have to have a 125 for practice or is that just to compete? They are harder to find! We will both need a fair bit of practice before attempting competition I think. We watched a trial last Sunday.
Hi I'm a new member of this forum. I'm from near Stamford bridge on A66 and my son's and I fancy trying trial's riding. I'm a bit old really but my youngest is 12. I understand he would only be able to ride a 125 if doing any proper ACU trials but he needs to learn bike control firstly. He has risen auto bikes so far. So we are looking for starter 125 bike and maybe a 2 bike trailer. My son wants some size 6 boots if anyone has grown out of theirs and somewhere to go practicing. We hope to join Scarborough MC once we have some SH bikes but could do with somewhere closer to York really?
