  1. Upgrade http://www.flickr.com/photos/22336443@N06/...869699/sizes/l/ that's going on my '07.... its Christmas present after the olle shock broke its shaft after the internals went south (no rebound dampening) Okay it's pricey so..... Upgrade to a newer model shock ('07 or newer) just also get the '07 or newer wishbone (that ties the swingarm, shock and links together) to make it all fit right. But I still consider the stock shocks as disposable hence the TRP for me..fully rebuildable as it should be.
  2. Sweet And sis is right there in the valley....too bad my work will prevent me from taking the tour west....for now. So Mansfield it is! Thanks to Dean and Dave for taking on the events.....a giant task!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Well at least on the Enduro front the WEC/MCC have put together a National series that looks very promising http://www.odsc.on.ca/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13482 For $700 your bike plus a few extras are transported across the country to the events. From there you can fly out, spend a week plus and ride 4 events (2 per weekend). Given the locations selected makes me wonder if a National 8 event Trial (4 locations) could not piggy back onto this Enduro series as the logistics are pretty much in place...even if the trial was Mon Tues and Thur Fri. Just maybe something will evolve Richard.
  4. On my '07 I took the 3 fender bolts out remounted the front center one to just hold the fuel tank, drilled two holes to secure fender to frame (above the swingarm bolt) with zips and zipped were the 2 rear bolts attached....pops off nicely when it needs to....been tested a few times.. lol
  5. From the MCC web site the press release http://www.motorcycling.ca/news.html?id=08Mar27_1 March 27, 2008 Historic Moment In Canadian Motorcycle Competition Toronto, Ontario

    Sherco

2 fuel tank issues for me 1) My '07 was leaking at the petcock....Seems one thread insert (that the bolt threads into) into the tank was not fully inserted, keeping the petcock/o-ring from fully seating to the tank. Just ground down the insert flush with tank and problem fixed. 2) Then the fuel cap started leaking like a sieve.....seems the cap is to small for the hole...or the tank grew. Cap was actually popping off the Tank. Took some teflon tape and wrapped the caps threads several times (to increase the size), along with a softer rubber belting for a gasket. Stopped the leaks
  7. 0 degrees here and +6 with rain tomorrow in the Banana Belt. Can stay that way so we can keep riding in the indoor shop....below -10 is to cold...so keep that cold air out west Richard.
  8. Its a 30X64 Quonset building....just enough space to humour us for a afternoon or evening or...... I added a furnace blower to blow air out the back man door and does a excellent job of moving fresh air in to the building. I keep changing the setup slightly to keep it entertaining..since it is all modular in design and held together with bolts and screws. This winter I've had some 4 guy's buy bikes (new to upgrades... and we are all offroad guy's at that) to come out and further there skills and conditioning. Spring is going to be a EASY transition....have had NO down time from riding since the snow flew at the end of November. Next would be a dedicated building using a Cover All building system ) or such. No more silly season here due to bike with drawl
  9. Not NY but in Ontario got one of those Indoor places see here http://www.odsc.on.ca/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=11373 been riding all winter...makes a HUGE difference. Half the reason I got a trials bike. Anyone else got pics of a Indoor "play" setup??
  10. My '07 was leaking at the petcock....Seems one thread insert (that the bolt threads into) into the tank was not fully inserted, keeping the petcock/o-ring from fully seating to the tank. Just ground down the insert flush with tank and problem fixed. Then the tank cap started leaking like a sieve.....seems the cap is to small for the hole...or the tank grew. Cap was actually popping off the Tank. Took some teflon tape and wrapped the caps threads several times (to increase the size) and stoped that leak/problem. Further on Water pump seal started to leak (pump side) seems some crap from factory worked its way into the seal...clean re-install and good to go Then the front brake master would not hold pressure....same deal, some crap worked its way into the seal...clean re-install good to go One year and that's my only issues/fixes .......been enjoying the bike.

    Terra Nova

Yes, many moons. 50th anniversary this fall as a matter of fact. Dilemma...do I take the BSA for historical anniversarry ride, or the KTM (with working plush suspension) for the modern ride? Take the BSA there Doug. Think how rewarding it will be to finish the event on vintage iron. Re-live them there early years riding real bikes..............?????????? Hard to believe the Terra Nova here is 50 years young Richard.

    Terra Nova

Interesting In Ontario there is the Terra Nova Enduro which has been a CMA event for many many moons.
  15. Trails Was out for some trail riding on the Sherco 2.9 in some woods single track....nice....nothing like tossing a 69kg bike around. Hammer the trail or stop and plonk on a obstacle....your choice, either way it's just plain FUN. Free riding is it!!!! As it slowly gets harder to ride a Dirt Bike around these parts (police, ATV clubs (harrasment), land issues, insurance costs/avalibility, etc.), I'm turning towards trials. It's a new challenge but I can also play in my backyard 1 acre lot or on private properties without any BS....I like that part. Next step for me will be to organize a trial...got a property to use...just need the help. Oh and my fav video.... can't wait for the next one!!!!!

    Why Change It?

Love my '07 2.9 as is....though it will kick back hard if you don't put the boot to the kick start. For me if it does not work well stock I's don't want the bike. I'll spend my time learning to ride the bike as oppose to spending $$$$ to compensate. Playing with jetting or the clickers is part of my fine tuning and thats it....rest is learning how to ride (by riding) and having fun. We could all take some money and go do a trial school and be further ahead. It's not what you ride but how well you ride it!!

If your tire/tyre leaks Slime it http://www.slime.com/ Works VERY well on tubeless tyres...seals up those nasty little leaks.
  18. Hey Matt Nice bike This bikes issues started with Me and I sold it off for someone else to figure it out....Matt is the second person to give it a try...in less than a month. What was happening is the spark was intermittent. Upon starting the bike cold it would fire the quit then fire like a old hit and miss motor until things warmed up some....then was fine till you shut it off walked away for a few minutes then would be difficult to start again...unless you put a new plug in. My guess was that the voltage at the plug was low if not erratic. Either the CDI/coil had issues or the hot lead wire from stator was breaking down or the stator was doing the same. Try the replacement CDI your getting Matt then back track from there if these issues fail to disappear. Have a contact for stator re-wind through Parker Bros. Carb is clean and the fuel is reaching the plug. As for the CDI/Coil in it now....it's from a '83CR80 (did not have it running with this set up) so the ignition curve may not be right....hence why it does not rev. Try the new one your getting...it will plug right in with the current wiring set-up....it's not butchered When you get it running then get your butt here for some indoor trials...is all set up....and the New Sherco 2.9...one word... AWESOME
  19. Nothing wrong with 200's at all. But when it comes to giggle factor.....it's all about torque. For competition purpose the 200 is ideal for nearly all mortals. But for outright play time/giggle factor, I'll take the 270cc....cause of the torque on tap. Played on a Gasser 200 and 250 plus a '97 Beta 300? and Aprilia 280, and just purchased a '07 Sherco 2.9. Why.... giggle factor. I'm not really into the comp thing so it's about playing. Yeh that's why I also ride KTM 300's --TORQUE=giggles My 2cents
