  1. Carl - we ride at temperatures of around zero or -5 in Western Canada quite often in winter months The Michelin works as good as anything. - Keeping fingers warm is the biggest problem Outlaw Dave
  2. Sounds like the Fan Module is hooped.

    Honda Test

The book - Four Stroke Finale - gives the complete Honda Trials story with an insight into Sammy's involvement - Sammy favoured the long stroke which Rob Shepard rode to many victories. ( My copy is on loan so not sure who published this book)
  4. Hey Ax - We find that the Opti 4 - 10w40 works extremely well in all Tranny's ( exception being the GG Pro for which we recommend 5w30) The straight grades do give better film strength and we recommend these for such bikes as the Sherco 4T or Montesa 4RT as these engines run very hot ( 30w) As you likely already know, it is imperitive to use a good quality oil and change it often - we do NOT recommend using Synthetic oil in Motorcycle Transmissions as some of these have caused clutch slip. - Outlaw Dave - Distributor Opti Lubricants Western Canada.(1986)
  5. Surprised Fracy hasn't replied to this one - being referred to as a US Citizen usually hits a nerve with Cannucks. - Like the man said - Vancouver Island is a hell of a long way from Michigan.
  6. Steve - I have all the spec sheets for your bike - I will mail them to you - as I said in my email to you the 300 takes the same as the 240 - 500cc Opti 4. 10w40
  7. In 1977 Yamaha were still trying to get rid of a huge stockpile of TY 250 twinshocks. - One idea was to fit the TT 250cc engine ( being developed) - nothing ever happened and eventually the stockpile of TY's in the States got sold to Canada and the UK.
  8. Nice X-Bar pad - I wonder where Steve got that?

    Majesty

Thanks Pitly - a fax number would do the trick as well - I used to deal with WES many years ago but have lost the details. ( we are 8 hours time difference over in Western Canada)

Pitly - Would you happen to have an email address for WES ?
  11. Steve - Good luck to you & Matt at the Trial - Some of the guys will no doubt look a bit different after 20 years - Be sure to tell them that there are a couple of Fantic 212's being very well looked after in Vernon, and that the pictures on my site will be updated soon. And lastly, don't forget my parts - Oh ! and if you happen to see Hughy - get those fenders off him !
  12. Thanks axulsuv - I have made a note of the K&N number.
  13. Thanks Ish - I could use two anyway as I now have two of these bikes.
  14. A short time ago somebody posted info on air filters for the 240 - I forgot to make a note of the details can anybody remember what it was?
  15. Mick Andrews - Five time winner of the greatest Trial in the World - The only Rider who has made Riding Trials his life - ( Mick has never really had a job - except when he was paid by Yamaha & Ossa) AND he still rides better than most as an old age pensioner.
  16. The event was a German World Round a few years ago ( I have the video) Philip Berlatier ( Bert) was "5"ed by the observer because his mider lifted the section tape away from his back wheel on a tight corner Bert cleaned the section and was enraged when the big Kraut gave him a five - he parked his bike and went back to "talk" to the guy who wanted nothing to do with him - Bert gave him a little "push" to get his attention and it graduated from there, - Bert got disqualified from the event anf earned the nickname Tyson.
  17. I beg to differ Rick1 - We have only ever had two break over a twelve year period - and this was due to customers overtightening it is NOT common on Beta's.
  18. I don't think bikespace has to read about Silsdon problems - the same thing happens most Saturday nights in Oswestry (Where he lives) - I was appalled at the state of my old home town when I last visited in 2001. large groups of drunken youths assembled outside pubs -looking for a fight - spitting on any older person trying to get past on the sidewalk - the local Parish Church now has wire across the stained glass windows because of yobs throwing beer bottles when they come out of the pubs across the street ( you know the ones Gaz - The Bell - The Oak ) - However I suspect that this happens in many other small towns all over the UK - maybe it's time they re-introduced conscription in the Army.
  19. Check the kill switch - this new type can sometimes cause a problem. You should also check the vent tube in the gas tank ( the small grey one) Also if you change to an NGK be sure to use a 7 not a 5 - Beta recommend a cooler plug than other bikes . Champion plugs are the opposite to NGK in heatrange numbering - ie. NGK the higher the number the cooler the plug - Champion the higher the number the hotter the plug. - be sure to use a resister plug ( this is very important)
  20. Where are you located ? - I have them in stock but I'm in Canada.
  21. For the past 20 years I have been organizing an event in Western Canada called the Outlaw Two Day Classic Trial - The foremat has never changed, we run Twinshock on Saturday with two lines "A" and "B" - then the Modern bikes on Sunday. - The concept has always been to run an event that is all about having fun with a lot of "Cleans" and all the riders going home with a smile. We give a discount to riders entered both days, and most riders camp out with their family at the location. Because the Trial proved to be very popular, we now run a three event series and have included a youth trial which takes place around the camp site on the Saturday night. Suffice to say that this is the only Trials Series that is growing in numbers each year in this part of the World.
  22. Dwayne - Poor choice of words, especially as you have obviously never lived in other Country's Remember the grass always looks greener on the other side, and although the sport is different in each Country, it's the people who make the difference. - I am guessing that you do not like the CPTA ? but that is NOT Canada - A good proportion of Canadian Trials riders are from other Countries, particularly the UK, where the sport originated, and yes there are a lot of clubs and riders on this very small island. The riders become very good because of the competition, but make no mistake, they have no time for whiners. Canada was built on immigrants who want to do something with their lives, the sport in Canada is small and I personally wish we could have events like back in Wales where I grew up. Observers at each section on a long loop etc, However, the very nature of the word club means joining a group so if you move to the States or elsewhere you need to evaluate yourself - you might not fit in anywhere, no matter what the lanuage.
  23. Hey boys - Glad you had another good day in spite of that typical Welsh weather ( one of the reasons I emigrated back in 1965) - Heath emailed to say Taff went to the wrong quarry for the first couple of hours, I'm expecting to talk to him tomorrow when he gets back to Canada - I think he got 2 - 3 pics If you want to see what we did last Sunday check out p3 on my gallery www.outlawtrials.com Enjoy.
  24. I should warn you guys that the Official "Outlaw" Photographer will be in attendance to record the events of the day. - Better put on your best "Duds" for possible Canadian publication!!!!
  25. Interesting Topic - Considering the very limited market and financial commitment. If I was guessing ( as we all are) I would have to aggree with Mr clean and say Tarres and Fantic. or Tarres and somebody else - It has to be somebody willing to risk a lot just for the sport.
