  1. Stu - You can try the plumbers tape, but a new site glass is cheap and the best fix .
  2. Hey Splint - Yes Wulf is still making the best quality clothing - I sell it in Canada, but they also have somebody in Aus: - Sorry I don't know who it is, but if you fax them they will be happy to give you the info: - They don't like using emails. - Best of Luck - Outlaw Dave
  3. Marky G - Posting comments like "get to take the P**** out of the Welsh, won't win you any friends - especially when you want to ride in their area. - Don't forget some of us old Welsh guys are watching from 7,000 miles away.
  4. Thats a very good post - For old guys who have struggled for years to promote the sport - it's hard to understand why it has never really taken off in North America. - All we can do is continue to promote & hope.
  5. The Answer is no - Yamaha supply engines to Scorpa ( old design) - Honda own Montesa. - completely different scenario.
  6. All the Sherco models are good - parts reasonable and readily available from your local dealer Outlaw Dave (Canada)
  7. Thanks for posting that Ishy - Lots of nostalgia in Trials, especially the Scottish - You would have to go a long way to find nicer people than the Lampkin family - Honest, fair, and really bloody good riders.
  8. Re: "When I were a lad" - Ishy when you were a lad I was supping my first few pints - probably after riding a trial that started from the Cross Keys pub in Selattyn near Oswestry ( Bikespace will know that one) - on the other topic of classes - without doubt there are way too many in North America - just think of the competition I could have if I rode in the States - in the over 65 class there is I think , only one rider. - what kind of challenge is that? - I've seen the same thing happen at other events, guys checking out who is riding what class before they sign in - just so they can win and be a hero in their own minds, - That my friends is not what Trials riding is all about. - It is about riding sensible events that take in natural terrain, and having a few bevies with your buddies after the trial. - the reason for the lack of riders = lack of bike sales - is that the riders particularly the young guys are not having fun - the " You rolled back two inches" type of mentality is enough to put anybody off, and no wonder some guys end up with a bunch of fives - like in a fistful. - The trials I run have three lines - if that 'aint enough then buy a street bike. - The old farts should be around to coach and support, not to win trophies, but also they should not forget the Hocky parent problem if they happen to have a young'un riding. - too many young riders have been burnt out because the parent thinks they should be a future Dougie Lampkin. - Hats off to the people at the Trials Training Centre in the States - That is where the future stars will come from, IF they remember that kids are still just kids.
  9. On a different topic - I would like to invite anyone from Europe to visit Western Canada - we will show you Mountain Terrain that you will be totally in awe - visit Outlaw Dave in the OK valley we compete in events but the BIG PLUS is exploring the Mountains - only on Trials Bikes
  10. If I was looking after the Beta Factory Team - I think I would be looking at young Bou and Dabill for 2005 - maybe keep Kenichi for the Japan Championship - plus a bit more help for young Tom Sagar in the UK. I can't see Cabestany having much of a future.

    Tyz

Alan - The TYZ was a completely different bike to the TY 250/350 - It took ten years to design and bring into production, by which time it was too wide and too heavy. However it still sold well in the Uk because once they fixed the timing problem, it was very reliable.
  12. Ishy - Now that is downright funny - Thats what we need more humour or humor on this site. Don't matter how ya spell it.
  13. Where are you located - England ?
  14. Ishy - You have probably hit the nail on the head re: the Politics - However If the riders want to change things, and I for one would like to know just how many Trials riders are members of the CMA in Canada. - The way to go about change is to stack the CMA board with Trials riders - If they really are running the Association in a democratic way - let the votes do the talking - all the rest of this uproar will only cause high blood pressure. On the subject of more Western events, I think thats where we should concentrate our effort. This year we had a very successful Outlaw Series for both Classic and modern bikes - Even though it only covered Alberta & BC ( an area that could swallow up Europe) - not too many riders did all three events. We are living in tough economic times, and in case you didn't know it Trials bike sales are down World wide - the cost of gas and other things has made a lot of riders think twice about travelling, especially from Canada to the USA. - aye Outlaw Dave
  15. In regard to the report by Bob Johns, there seems to be a bit of a mix up at the beginning of the report - It was Wilson Craig who got the notice from CMA not Will Duggan - At least that is the way I heard it, and it was the fact that Wilson Craig did not send the required $100 deposit with his letter of intent, that was the reason for CMA throwing out his application. Whatever the reasons, it is a black mark on Canadian Trials, as all these lads deserve to represent their Country. I've no time for petty politics.
  16. For North American Riders - A product called Opti Pro Shop Spray is the very best - Its a German made product, available at most Chainsaw dealers who carry the Opti line of lubricants also at most Motorcycle dealers in Western Canada, - We also use this as a chain lube instead of conventional sticky types which attract dirt. - It dispels water and leaves a lubricant base. ideal for Trials bikes.
  17. Kickstart - Take your carb off and check the pilot jet - it could be plugged with dirt
  18. Mick60 - I have been a dealer for Sammy for over thirty years, and I get the very best service from him - orders usually arrive in Canada in 5-7 days. The reason he quit using the email address for orders, is because he was getting too much garbage & questions etc. - - Just sold a NZI helmet and some Wulf stuff to a Kiwi, who was over in Canada on vacation - Foster is the name. - maybe you know them - Ivan and hs lad both ride Trials "Down Under" Cheers Outlaw Dave
  19. The Results are posted on the TodoTrial site
  20. Hey Bigfoot - Problem is you can never get all the old oil out before re-filling so if the manual says 500cc - you should re-fill with 480 because there is always going to be some oil lodged in the clutch case somewhere. - That is the system I have used for years with Gas Gas - Beta and Sherco. As Joe says it isn't really a problem. The total capacity listed is for when the bike is brand new with no oil in the case. - Just change it often and use a good 5w30wt. - NOT automotive oil.
  21. We have been selling Beta Trials bikes since 1993 - never had any problems with stators or anything else really. - I currently ride a 2004 Rev 270 - still running brilliant after six months of old fart type riding. - Like Ishy says - biggest problem is when people meddle with the wiring and don't know what they are doing.
  22. WEll Done Dougie Lad - The sign of a TRUE Champion is in grit and determination when things are going wrong. Aye Outlaw Dave
  23. JTT - I can only assume that you want to crate your Gasser and come out to Trials(Gods) Country in British Columbia. - Oh! OK maybe you are still hooked on the Eastern Life - but surely if you are selling your GG and buying a new one from !!!!!!! - They should provide you with the old crate - Simple !!!
  24. SuperFly - There are no Sunny Valley's in Wales - Thats why I left in 1965 - (Just Kidding) - However I do see lots of events still being run, so maybe you should check out other clubs and be prepared to travel a bit ie: the Llanfyllin club seem very active and they do have a top rider in young Tom Sagar ( I used to ride with his Grandad) - WE have a huge Country in Canada just like Jay in the USA, but the facts are that the people who shout the loudest get heard by the Politicians. - WE have lost prime areas because of Mountain bikes taking over - They do more damage but because they have the numbers they win. - Until the Motorcycle Industry hire lawers etc to lobby Government we will continue to see land use shut down to Off Road vehicles.- This will include your Pampera !! - The solution is not to quit, but to get vocal and join a lobby group - or you could emigrate like I did ( only to run into the same thing) - Aye Outlaw Dave
  25. One of the big problems, is that the degree of difficulty for the said class varies from one area to another - the guy who finished on single digits for the trial mentioned, might possibly ride a similar event elsewhere and be way down the results - if he is always winning in his home pond, by all means move him up, but I feel it is important to get the organizers to set the same type of standards for each class, no matter where the event is held. Only the individual rider can decide if - he or she is having fun. too many "5's" on the score card often means the bike appearing in the "For Sale" adverts.
