This overheating is not normal - unless you are running lean due to changing the main jet or the float level - we have had no issues with either the Rev 3 or Evo models - However you can fit the Costa high volume water-pump kit which I would recommend for the type of riding you seem to like.

The WTC Canadian National Rounds 3-4 go this weekend in Victoria BC. - As listed in the earlier reports, the events will wrap up the series which started back in Quebec, earlier this year. - With hot dry weather causing postponement of the last two rounds, because of the Forest Fire hazard, the Victoria Club, were forced to re-schedule to this later date. - Ironically, it appears that rain will now be make things very slippery, and with snow forecast for the Mountain Passes, just getting to the Trial, might be a challenge. - Good luck to all particpants

Yes for most parts no problem - rear mudguards might be hard to find.

Great pics thanks for posting

Watching with interest from across the pond in Canada.

Rounds 3-4 of the WTC Canadian National Trials series, will take place at the Victoria Motorcycle Club property on Vancouver Island - October 27/28th - The event had to be postponed from the late September date, because of a fire ban in the area, caused by very dry and unusual conditions. - The club will use a new spectator friendly format, and there will be lots of camping facilities including wash rooms.

Filter oil is "Special" because it has a "Tackifier" which stops the oil draining to the bottom of the filter leaving the top portion dry - trick is to leave the filter out of the bike overnight before fitting, to ensure the best result - do not over-oil.

If you don't think the Ryan Young video is any good, I suggest you take up a different sport.

Check the inside of the waterpump cover to see if the impellor shaft has been touching - we had a couple with casting imperfections that needed grinding off so that the shaft didn't touch as the motor got hot. - ( Took us a while to figure it out as it came & went )

The 25th Anniversary Outlaw Trial, proved to be the best ever, with 66 riders for the two day competition - riders from all over Western Canada, plus one from Colorado, enjoyed great weather conditions for the long loop 40 section Trial ( English style) - As always, the sections were designed to take points, without being dangerous, with two vintages classes on Saturday, and five on Sunday. - Full results and pictures, can be seen by clicking on to either www.trialscanada.com or www.outlawtrials.com - check out the gallery.

The 25th Outlaw Trial is now only a few days away - This will be a 40 section, one loop trial of approx 25km - although this event will be historic for Canadian Trials, ( except for the 1975 World Championship) It will attract riders from as far away as Colorado. - The Summerland area of the Okanagan Valley in Beautiful British Columbia, is renowned for it's vineyards and sandy beaches, but the sections up on the mountain will test most riders, and have names like "Devil's Staircase" and "Creag Lundie" that bring a breath of Scotland to the event.
The Vintage, or Classic trial goes on Saturday, followed by a kids event around the camp ground on Saturday night, then the Sunday Modern, which will start at 10am. - for more info: go to www.outlawtrials.com

On a "Positve" note - We have not had any Stator failures on any Evos in Canada ( maybe it's the air) - One thing to check on the 09/010 is the level in the rad as the thermostat is at the top - ( Changed to bottom for 2012)
Cheers

Hey Vinny - Welcome to Vintage Trials - You are of course some 3,000 km from us, but like your Dad - I had a number of Sherpa T's back in the 70's - We have a vintage class in our upcoming Outlaw Trial, and I'm sure there will be at least a couple of these fine machines competing. Good luck with your project.

The 7 time USA Trials Champion was in Summerland BC last weekend, to put on what can only be described as a fantastic training school. - This was Ryan's first visit to Western Canada, and glad to say the weather co-operated with sunshine and warm temperatures. - The 14 students were treated to a variety of training techniques, but everything started with Ryan checking "Set-up" on all the bikes, which included a short ride to ensure all controls werer working as they should.
Next up was basic turns, before graduating to more advanced stuff like slipping the clutch for traction etc, then it was onto the logs, with different suspension and throttle/clutch co-ordination. - The two day course covered all aspects of riding techniques that result in a lower score in the sections. - ending with a big "Splat" rock. for the young guns. Thanks to Ryan and his charming Wife for making the very long trip from the Sorthern united States.

We have been Importing goods from Europe for decades, and the costs can vary quite a lot depending on the the carrier, However as Arnoux points out, there is very little margin left for the dealer, and not much loyalty either by customers. - Fortunately most Trials dealers are in it because of the Passion for the sport, and will still help any rider who is in need of quick parts, and drive 100's of miles to support events. ( We live in a big Country as well) - But at the end of the day, any business has to show a profit.
-
Had to make this type of difficult decision some years ago for the same reason - rider safety. - Not easy - but smart.

I agree with Ishy's last post
-
The #2 position advances the timing - and therefore more revs, it is noticeable on the Beta, but only at larger throttle openings - We have not seen much difference on the Sherco. - In fact one customer asked if the wires were connected to anything !!
-
Glad you are enjoying your riding - As you may know I live in Vernon, but put on the Trials at Summerland, so if you are ever in the Valley, give me a call as we ride most weekends - Cheers - Outlaw Dave

I would score that a clean

Check that the throttle cable hasn't pulled out at the top of the carb, and is holding the throttle wide open.

Stunned to read this news this morning, what a tragedy. - I first saw Diego riding at the 1986 Canadian World Round in Vancouver, he was a star who has been taken way too soon. RIP Diego.
