Check the engine mounts, especially the rear, and also the bash-plate bolts, before you do anything else.
-
Check with Mountain Motorcycles of Coquitlam ( They are at the Vancouver Show this weekend) They might have a used one in stock
-
The 08 Rev 3 bikes we had in Canada had the different rear pads that you decribed - could be they changed at some point, as this is the only year we had with the offset pin hole.
-
Billy - Good to see you're still about - by the way - it's 4 Stroke Braking - not "Breaking" - the latter would mean busting it up !!! Lol. ( I know I'm being picky - Happy New Year)

Rather than posting on this web-site - why don't you either contact your local dealer just down the road at Shawnigan Lake or phone Mountain Motorcycles in Vancouver ? - Just a suggestion. !!!
-
Great pics - Thanks for posting
-
I see that you come from Scotland ?? - spend the money and do the job right. You need to keep the spokes tight.
-
NOTE! Both Schools are fully booked - a reserve list is now being prepared.
-
Check that the crankcase breather isn't plugged with mud.
-
Did you overfill it? Could also be the sidecase gasket - there is a bolt at the bottom hidden by the rubber buffer, that often gets missed when doing maintenance - you need to drop the bashplate to access it.

Interests include Classical music

Ryan Young will be holding two Training Schools in Western Canada next year - The first will be at Summerland, BC on April 21/22

As other people have already mentioned - four-strokes take a little getting used to, However, you have the perfect teacher just down the road from you, give Steve Fracy a call, he rides a Beta four-stroke, and would be happy to show you how to ride it
-
They are 1974 models 250's and definitely not stock
-
The Beta Clutch and the Gas Gas Pro Clutch are completely different - using the wrong oil is usually the biggest problem.
-
Welcome to the sport Rob - If you're ever out in the Okanagan - look us up
Outlaw Dave
-
Hi PJ - Did you find the problem? - please tell.
-
Hi PJ - You will probably find that the alloy impellor has been rubbing on the rough casting inside the waterpump case - We had this happen with an 09 Evo - we machined the rough spot and everything was cool. ( You won't hear the noise with the stock Beta plastic impellor) We have fitted the Costa high volume kits to other bikes without a problem, so it is likely just a casting flaw.

The DVD and Book arrived today in Vernon BC - A Big thanks to Mairi for making the transaction easy for the old guy.
Great pics in the book including one of our young buddy Harry McKay - and the DVD has some really neat footage - Every Scottish enthusiast should have these in their library.
-
It's likely the alloy after market impeller rubbing on the case - you can fix by either putting the stock one back on or taking some metal from the alloy unit with a lathe or grinder.
-
Wow ! - Thats a great old video - nice background music and very well put together - lots of bikes that I've never heard of !!
-
Great stuff - Thanks for posting - Trials is not all about winners - just about having fun. - video well put together
keep up the good work.
-
Check the gas tap -Stand pipe in the gas tank - you need to remove the gas tap - sorry petrol tap - on some ealier bikes
this plastic tube was too long and caused lean conditions. - before doing this try running the bike with the tap on the reserve position. - you can check all the service data by clicking on www.shercousa.com
Note ! We always fit a larger pilot jet - 35 or 36.
-
While Electric bikes may have a future - I think most people have failed to mention the BIG problem with riding in the woods - it's NOT the Trials bikes - it's the noisy Cross Country machines, and in particular the so called eco friendly 4 strokes.
Catering to the wishes of "Do-Gooders" and bureaucrats, will only lead to a total ban on riding dirt bikes anywhere.
Trials riders are by and large a hard working bunch of people who don't annoy anybody. - There will always be Anti - bikes - Anti everything types, who rely on lots of BS and large numbers to sway Politicians. - Don't be fooled by this latest invention, as it will not solve any problems. - We certainly aren't gonna be planting any "Current Trees" in our neck of the woods to charge up anybody.
