Fuel pump or fuel pump filter?
Does it get worse when hot.
See if you swap a tank to eliminate
-
Every single time the bike goes out, couple of spare filters so always a clean one available makes the job easy.
also
Brake pads out as well every ride.
oil chain
Polish
That's it for a mont
-
I think -
Pre 09 to post 09 - a little better
Pre 14 to post 14 - a little better
So an 07 to 16 you would see an improvement - mainly smoother power and less tendency for front to push out on corners.
However a well sorted pre 14 to a std 16 probably not much difference but for whatever reason the latest do feel that bit nicer and a new bike always feels better even if the marks dropped stay the same.

Sandifords, M Sport, foreign Mont specialist - Mont dealer?
Various maps are good and if you choose the correct one for your needs is a top mod
-
FYI - bought 2015 std Mont at very good price.
Fitted my old bits as above.
Picked up a good value Ohlins on Flea bay - thinks its better but hard to really.
Like the front tech forks - front feels better than my old 09
Put a pre 2014 rear mudguard on as fed up with getting wet.
Bike is spot on and love riding it.
Personally would only change a front pipe to a larger di to soften power unless you have lots of money to spend.

or spend time and money trying to get it to be like a 2T. Which is what a lot of people did when they first came to the market in 2005.
Spend time and effort to learn and maximise its advantages and try and minimise its occasional shortcomings and you'll join the clan of smug 4rt owners
-
That's why Montesa riders spend money on bling - they have disposable income saved from not repairing them and time on there hands after a quick wash and polish brings them up like new.
-
There are 2 type of 4rt rear mudguard
Post 2014 that are fashionable and narrow and as much use as the proverbial chocolate tea pot
and
Pre 2014 that actually do what they say - keep the mud off .
I haven't crash tested a new one but the old version are as tough as old boots and will bend in half and then just shrug it off, I know!!
-
or
Put latest rear mudguard in the garage for when you sell it or for summer evening trials and fit the old pre 2014 rear mudguard.
Got fed up with a muddy back as new ones are fashionably thin but in fact the worse thing on my 2015 - even worse than the stand
PS
Got to have something to moan about.
-
I recall that Morlais castle was used as the start for the world rounds with riders going on the road to the quarry, not sure about that these days. finding BTC venues is hard WTC must be a league of pain higher up
-
I think you'll find that it is the rider only that will be facing m'lud as they have signed that they are compliant.
Any organiser is in the clear and this makes it even easier. Free insurance if you are legit. If not at your own risk ,
-
Good trial -bit damp though to say the least. Big thanks to those that organised and observed.
-
or put a freshly sprayed/oiled air filter in - they definitely don't like that!!!
-
I have had similar on several 4rts if cold and stop starting a lot it seem that the plug etc fouled up and the bike runs rough. I find start it up and just leave ticking over for as long as possible. Everything seems to come back into order then. Unlike a 2 stroke revving to clear out just makes situation worse.
Also dump the oil tank from under the head stock and plug hole in the air box, at the same time put fan relay where the oil tank was and curl up the excess loom. Deposit bank angle sensor to bin at same time. If concerned of bike running when upside down then fit lanyard
-
My understanding is the trial is not running due to lack of venue due to weather
Copy of email; I received recently from Malcolm Bates
"Welsh Experts - Unfortunately the original venue I hoped to use became unavailable and replacement venues are either not available or too wet to use at the moment so with time running out I have had to cancel - Apologies for this."
-
Dittto
Only with fuel spilling out on tlr 200 with float etc sticky
Treated all brass parts to a bath of alloy wheel cleaner - been spot on since
-
Hi Dallas
The 4rt must have slack in the cable so the butterfly snaps shut.
Tick over is done with the big screw on the side of the throttle body - just about accessible through the gap in mudguard /frame etc. I think this is an air screw so out for faster and in slower . Normal comments ref having a correct tick over to aid starting etc.
If above correct then check no dirt in the in this air passage of the throttle body etc where the adjusting screw operates.
Screw comes out ok with spring on end then WD 40/Air etc to ensure clean, would do with Throttle body off the bike to stop anything going into engine.
Hope of some use

2016 bikes have slightly different fan mount to avoid stones etc but think rads are same.
Sure I read somewhere that the original 280 sainz map ran rich to aid cooling -or something similar
For Scott/SSDT prevention much better than cure - remember Tarres on first Zero -probably many months and much money on developing the water cooled engine then stopped for the sake of a mud flap and some mesh.
JR - as a side - fuel pump problems start a bit like the stutter when hot and then fine after standing. Might be time for filter clean in the tank as precaution
Dai - spend your money down the Gym -bike wont get so hot pulling a few kgs less around the 80miles HaHa
-
my point exactly - 4rt with a very complicated seat.
Be interesting what they retail at?
-
Congrats and welcome to the 4rt gang -you won't be disappointed
When the Repsol first came out they used to be the one to have with the add ons and PTB etc.. Having just swapped from a well sorted 09 std 4rt to a new std 2015 I think maybe the difference is much closer -I really like the new front end and have no complaints over the rear.
So as big bro the lucky one says - have what you want and what makes you feel good. Either way they are both more than good enough in the sections. just spend the time to learn the beat ways to ride them.
The 300 RR though may be bit of a beast - it might take you in a spit you out or may be a pussy cat - time will tell but never felt the 250 /260 lacking unless you are a BTC/WC level.
Enjoy the new purchase - I'm sure we will help if you have any other questions
PS my last 2 Montesa/Honda cost me about £250/year depreciation - no wonder mont riders have a smile on there faces
-
should be interesting in the trail bike classes
-
Was looking at 2016 bike yesterday. I wonder if this an improvement or just parts bin sharing. Be interesting to find out if the extra pressure makes a difference. Plastic bottom is good I suppose but rooting looks a bit congested. Wonder how replacement cost stack up against original set up.
Any feed back on the 2016 revised footrest positions

Basically UK is split geographically into various centres, each centre has clubs associated with it.
Trials are then classified as follows
International
National
Regional restricted/restricted
centre
Club.
So long as you have trials registration you can ride up to national and the SSDT.
You also need to be a member of a club to get your registration.
To ride Closed to club trials you need to be a member of that club.
To ride centre trials you need to be a member of a club in that centre
To ride restricted trials you need to be a member of one of the clubs invited or within the region invited.
To ride a National you need to be a member of a club in UK
A and B normally refers to severity - A harder than B.
Best thing find a local club and have a chat but basically for £15 to £20 you can join club and get ACU registration and start having fun

I have had an early 315 wheel in one and now have a 2000? sherco as a 3rd spare for marking out and practice etc. Just need to check spacing required to get disc in centre of calliper. I have found a wheel bearing centre race works well as a spacer. Early wheel may have larger/thicker disc but if the wheel is cheap enough £40 on suitable disc is still worth it.
Most front ends run similar set ups as forks are common across most bikes.
