I have mine set pretty much mid way on the front and rear compression/rebound settings - probably std as the bike comes. I run rear spring quiet soft. Unsrew 2 collars downwards until back end feels as soft as you like it. Unless you need to be doing trick stuff in the car park use the back end for grip as the mont rear suspension on streams and rocks is superb when left to do its job.

Welcome to the gang - glad you enjoy, Mainly same as above. I tend to change engine oil and filter every 4 to 5 months but do an oil change in between. I always clean brakes after every event and a clean air filter, A freshly oiled filter especilally if using a spray filter oil makes the bike a pig to start, I always oil the filter and then leave it an hour or so before fitting to the bike. Gerabox oil changed same time as engine oil -I use ATF but there is a whole host of forum posts on this subject. Fit a case saver to front sproket - you'll regret if you don't and your change comes off, Fit some mesh to air vents on mudguard to stop too much junk getting into air filter. I cut up a frying pan cover and used soldering iron to melt into plastic on underside of mudguard, Footrest brackets may need a little strenghtening over time as they are quiet soft. A bigger bash plate is also a good idea if riding hard on rocks. Apart from that just get out enjoy one of the best quality bikes about.

Had a quiet few hours on this project and came up a blank - Munch was also going to look into it. I thnk these filters are dual layer with a coarse outer layer and a very fine inner layer.
-
keep us informed - have had a replacement pump of Munch for lots less than the full Honda price but not seen a smaller pump anywhere.
PS
Had the fuel pump fault occur twice but resolved by degresaing a cleaning sock filter attached to pump. Now have 2 tanks (std and flat)
and 3 pumps all functiong ok.
PPS
Have been fancying having a go at fabricating a pump base to both reduce weight and gain some fuel capacity lost by flat tank but not started yet.
Made my own flat tank from a std tank for about £40 including paint and stickers

Not heard of this -anymore info

Anybody had any good experience in the UK - Gaerne Balance boots need a re-tread.
Is it best to get original soles or are aftermarket ones ok.
Have had mixed experince in the past so looking for a bit of background info

I found the 280 kit a handfull and changed back to std 250 on the 09 I bought, Had sains map on at the time. Currently running a softer version of the sains map, Have rdden the clubman route with some success on a few of the S3 rounds including colmore and found the 250 was stilll getting me out of the big climbs as good as anything no problem .
I run std gearing (10 41?) and ride lots in bottom gear and use the rev band to get what I need top end. 4rt does not like to be revved and then dump the clutch like a 2 stroke. Have found ride off the throttle and then give it lots once the drive has hooked up, I find 250 does this where the 280 was spinning or just dragging me behind.
As you have a PTB would suggest probably best playing with alternative maps which costs nowt before spending money on a 280 kit. Youll probably want to play with maps if you do fit a 280 kit so may as well do first as last.
Best of luck

I guess thats the reason - anything can be cut through. MSM at least know what a trials bike is and cover you during an event and during transit back and forth

Don't think a good chain and padlock is a bad idea and sure I didn't pay any where near £100

-
Too true - complete wheel is a drop in part tho after 2000 model year.

How bad are the elongations. Sprocket should centalise using the centre hole of the sprocket to give alignment. Bolts just hold it in place via the clamping force generated when tightened up. The fit of the bolt in the hole on the hub is irrelevent once tightened so long as the hole has not elongated that much that there is not enough strength left. Any repair that does not involve welding and redrilling is not going to give that strength back anyway. .
-
Used to be able to just buy the hub if all else fails - 315 mont can be used but would need different sprocket and disc.
PS What holes are you refering
-
Good luick with the rebuild as said above not many Fraser Hondas about.
You may be better targeting the Sammy Miller series on a Fraser as the modern twin shocks rider the harder route in the Normadales
-
And they are well over 40 too

Top post Barfy - I can do the map stuff and now running my own hybrid map but the screen shots are brill.
1 thing I learnt is that if you read the data currently on PTB using the 07 software is that it only reads the last map you put in so you can't check what is already in map 1 or 2.
The HRC instruction manual is on PDF in the web site i mentioned in previous post post but your photos are much easier.
Main problems I have had is not having com port set correctly and I think you have to save a map into the software before you can down load it.
Barfy - has you computer got a serial port or did you have to get a USB to serial port converter. If so what driver have you installed on PC. I recently reinstalled a driver for mine but its much slower than the one I had down loaded before. Used to take only several seconds to download a map but now seems to take forever.
Cheers

Don't think there is a problem switching maps on the go.
On the 07 software it asks you which mode you want to down load to (1 ,2 or both)
-
Exactly the same but will only do single maps and single PTBs. You need 07 for twin map

http://www.montesa4rt.nl/
Cracking web site with lots of info and map converter
-
05 won't work so now in with a chance with 07. You need to make sure the maps you have are dual map compatible. I think the file name ends DM.
There is a conversion software available on the net somewhere and also software to copmare maps which is really helpful.
Check some of me old posts on maps.

Thanks to all at Llanfyllin for a cracking days sport it what was grim conditions to say the least. Thanks to everyone that stood out in the rain so we could play on our bikes.
Probably have snow next year
-
check you have the 07 software. On the bottom rightish there is abox that ask waht you want to change-fuel, ignition,3d map and things like that. At the bottom it asks what mode you want to change- map1,map 2 or both.
I think you have to open the map you want and then save it for software to know what you want
-
Clubs, centres etc can and shoulld be able to choose what rules they want to ride (event by event if it suits)- it works so why argue and change utopia. I ride stop allowed, no stop and have even ridden a few Time trials where marking is 0,3,5.its not an issue changing so long as you know before you start.
Only thing that has changed is the rules for the BTC and thats what is being discussed as I see it.

HRC software needs you to tell it what com port is selected.
Go to device manager and look to see waht com port you computer has active and then select this in the HRC software
