  1. What oil did you use - Mont clutch very sensitive to oil type. Search forums for comments but the expensive elf oil or atf seem best options
  2. Just bought 4rt with a gas gas disc fitted - no problem so assume disc/wheel interchangable if spacers are correct

    Air Box Horror!

07 Beta What level do you and your mates ride and what succes do you have. Engine response and consistancy is critical on a trials bike and dirty filters, blocked jets and worn piston and rings can not help this. Any failure on the air filtration side can only increase the chance of poor performance. I might be a bit extreme but will never take a bike out unless there is a newly cleaned and oiled air filter in place.
  4. As no other post yet with results here they are as I remember them - please correct and add as you see fit. Dry weather made the muddy banks etc very grippy allowing for some super riding making the scores lower than expected/anticipated. Thanks to all who rode, attended or helped in anyway Results J Dabill - 10 A Wigg - 12 M Brown - not sure as had bike problems on last lap that probably cost him the trial - had 1 mark advantage on James after 2nd lap Exp A - G Macdonald -2 Exp B - J Woods- 2 Youth - J Luter-Evans
  5. For Info - St Davids has a full house of 55 riders so although people have had to choose their prefered event hopefully all events will be well supported.Good luck to all involved.
  6. "I think you have missed the main point of my piece, perhaps my message was to subtle in it's approach?" Not sure what the subtle point was but I (and probably every one else) read it that based upon the vast experience you will be again be putting on the best world round in a superb location and whatever rules the FIM have conjoured up this year Martin and Co will address these and still do a fantastic job and the organisation and planning will be superb as previous. So please come along Sorry if I missed the hidden points and good luck to all
  7. Paid more than I am to ride every weekend so in my tight yorkshires eyes thats big money.
  8. Sorry Jake just re-read your article again and maybe I am just synical but most of it is PR and justifying your case to make comment and promote your own event - or is the timing of these profound words a coincidence?????? My point is that there is nothing really new in what you are saying - if the C of C gets it right its a good trial if not its crap. Just stakes are higher and the spotlight greater the higher up the chain the event is. Everybody knows Mart, you and gang know what is required, Most riders know the good events from club level up. Trouble is top riders don't have the choice of where to ride and are paid big money to go there. Most organisers are part time or voluntary. Maybe time for a profesional C of C or FIM representative with some power. I know FIM have a represenative this year - Bosis I recall but BTC definately don't
  9. More a PR stunt than a rant but good luck to all involved in organising and riding.
  10. spent the last few weeks reviewing TC's forum's too and must say top summary. Think I may be trying some novogars as well.
  11. Venue is much more traditional than Morlais and B route will be of a good traditional style national standard - well as good as you can get on a mulitlap course. Nothing silly big but loose and slippy. Come and enjoy
  12. Anybody fancy an entry for the St Davids BTC in 2weeks please contact Graham. Expert B route will be sensible, Experts A a little tougher and the champ boys can do there own thing. New venue so unfortunately we don't have the big rocks to throw you up/off so nows the year if you fancy a ride! 13. Cheers Fantic Just for info Had 05 with Sains map for 3 years - did me really well and local boys who tried it thought better than a std map Just got a 09 with dual PTB evidently set with the "Mild and Wild" combination. I have to say after first week of riding 2 maps coud be termed flat and c**p. Looking at typical profiles the sains maps is very progressive - the so called wild typically has spikes and peaks which can only confuse your right hand. Will be interesting once I get 07 software and upload and download. Anybody elses input welcome
  14. What software is needed to download to twin map PTB. Does this need to be the 07 software or will 05 software and a converted file work. Does the the correct software have to be purchased through dealer or copies available to download I have aquired 05 leads and software. What is best adapter to go from USB to the serial port on the Honda interface leads Any info appreciated
  15. Thanks Most interesting Will have to get my lap top sorted and have a go
  16. Have tried all sorts of boots and socks but what is wrong with wet feet. Just get in there and save some marks by finding out what is beneath the water. Nothing works 100% so just admit it and get in there. Diving suits are mainly wet suits -clue in the name. Nuff said PS oldish git who has ridden many trials but also a bit tight
  17. Finally got round to getting a mate to copy my Laia Sains single map out of my PTB. Would like to now put this into friends twin map PTB. Is this map compatible. Are the early leads and original software compatible If not can it be changed - ie file name etc Or will it need to be rewritten in a new format. I think this may have been asked before but didn't turn up much in searches I have tried. Thanks
  18. should have stuck with the fat old Monts - Scott and SSDT win out the window on these modern 2 strokes!!! Best of luck to Doug for the last day and agree that it shows real determination and not being afraid of being beaten to keep going. Easy choice just to stop. Who knows what may happen -Brownies 5 marks for bike not starting shows anything is possible. Nice to see Caby struggling a bit - shows us Brits can ride proper trials still.

    2004 315

Had several 315s and now a 4rt -can't beat Honda quality. Always have found memories of the 315 - rode my last one in 2006 SSDT and was still competeitive - don't think bikes have changed much since then. My mate has kept a couple of his for sentimental reasons and when he pulls one out they go like new. The 04s where paticularily nice with the white plastics. I have been tempted to get a cheap late one and slot it into the 4rt chasis just to see what Honda should/could of done if they had kept both 2t and 4t options open. happy buying

    Weather

I was advised the following by a local during my first visit to Fort William If you can see the top of Ben Nevis rain is on its way If you can't see the top of Ben Nevis it is already here. never let me down
  21. I think its easy to mix up hard with big when it comes to sections. Often the trickier, slippery stuff takes more marks than the huge steps that favour the very top boys
  22. I guess neither was right. Who would be a clerk of the course or organising club?? Majority of which is done by volounteers. Where was the FIMs technical representative on this. Maybe time to stop the officials and stewards expenses and put more money into technical help and advice!!!!!!!!
  23. Perce -can you post video of Bruces double clean so I can tell where kickers have been removed from. Can try and memorise for October.
  24. Probably in 3rd gear too Perce
