Gutted I set out with the intention of just getting to the finish so to be 21 secs out is both good and bad (more bad though).
Thanks to everyone that sponsored me and/or shouted at me during the day. Learnt a lot again and proved my training and nutrition plan was almost right so I'll be busy refining it again during the next year
Hand Picture
My left hand degenerated again, last year it went by section 9, this year it lasted until 53ish when i took a trip over the bars and had the bike land on my head
I said (along with someone else but i don't remember who, must be the bang on the head) that i'd double my donation if i beat Dougie. Technically I'm counting that as beating him so I'll be reaching into my student overdraft once again.
One of my bike sponsors said that they'd double the total if i finished so hopefully i should have made around
-
Wicked cheers Don't talk to me about that trial, i had an awful day . Did you mean beat Dougie to anywhere in particular? I may make it to the first section ahead of him....

Any body fancy Sponsoring me to help kids through the Make-A-Wish Foundation
-
Sponsor me please
Not sure if this is allowed on here or not?? I decided to raise some cash for charity, I'm not a big fan of to many charities, but a cousin of mine suffered a brain tumor while very young which he's managed to survive, but it has had a massive effect on his day to day living and that of his parents. So i decided to help the Make-A-Wish Foundation

No chance anymore, they're keeping me busy at hospital. Might need some victims for a research project though
Get it checked out by your Medical Practitoner, then seek out a Physio or Corrective exercise specialist to coach YOU through fixing it.
As you've ignored it initially I'd imagine you'll have a fair bit of rehabilitation to work through. Good luck
-
I'd personally go a little lower and then force the front end into the rock as i set of so it kicks you up a little more, hard to explain but if I'm up their anytime soon I'll show you what i mean. Unless your up at Bracken Rocks on sunday??
-
No worries now as it arrived this morning and had been delivered to a completely different address.

Hi,
Does anyone know where i can find the start times for the Round 9. September 28th The Travers Trophy Trial organised by Newcastle & DMC?
Have tried the number on the ACU site but haven't had any luck yet.
Cheers

Pretty pricey in the long run, i have a 75 year old client whose on had 3 one side and 2 the other. I have no idea how good i can ever get him as the new knees were put in without releasing the muscles etc. So we just aim to maintain his mobility and stop further wear and tear, the guy is an absolute legend and does everything i suggest and from walking in originally with a zimmer frame he's now able to walk his dog and even rides a bike and has played football with his young grandson.
If you put the work in i think you'd do a pretty good job of taking yourself back to a place where you were pretty much pain free. I started looking at knees even more when Wiggy suffered his knee injury recently as i hate seeing young sports stars getting injured and operated on.
Here's a pretty good article by Matt a colleague of mine which pretty much sums it up
Knee pain

Did anyone ever measure your pelvis alignment. I won't bore you with the details (i get enough chance at hospital for that), but of all the patients I've seen over the years i've only had one with an actual anatomical leg length difference. Most, even the ones with shattered femurs have been mainly due to an issue with alignment of the pelvis. A lot had a tight over active Psoas or on other occasions a combination of over active rec femoris/piriformis causing the pelvis to shift.
Its worth just marking the bony landmarks of your pelvis with a pen and then having someone check their level by placing a finger on each and visually assessing any difference.
My experience of knees (my own included) is that they're a slave joint and a lot of issues can be from them performing roles that they shouldn't be doing. I spent 10 years on and off crutches having physio before i found an abdominal dysfunction which meant my leg was effectively stabilizing where my inner unit (core) should have been.
-
Here's my initial checks for a client with Arthritis pain
Causes:
1. When the body is out of alignment, there is wear and tear on the joints. This is exacerbated with improper exercise and movements within daily life.
2. Overuse of NSAID

With the brace you are trying to create intrinsic stability with extrinsic means, kind of like a weight belt for a bad back, its not the answer to the problem but from the point of view of confidence and the ability to train properly their more than worth their money. From my point of view the danger comes when a client decided to rely on the brace rather than attempting to rehabilitate themselves.
I'll gather my notes together for you.

Awesome day, sections were perfect and the weather couldn't of been better. Good ride round and really fair observing, thanks to everyone involved Definitely one of the best trials I've rode this year.
-
You can have my notes that i use for my clients if you their any use to you?
-
Sounds like I have entered twice, i seem to remember sending it off now, i went away to ride and got a call saying the trial was in TMX so i rang my Mum and asked her to fill a form out and post it in. Oops, I'll sort it out with Jean on Sunday which one to use then.
Am definatly energetic enough to ride twice and maybe 2nd time around I'd ride better
Cheers
