    Which Bike

Theirs always the first British bike to consider, an ibex. Bizarrely i had my best year ever riding this bike. The 26" frame was ahead of its time with its geometry with the top tube sloping straight to the back wheel and doing away with a seat like many of todays bikes. Sadly it never really took off which was a shame for Roger Hammond as he was very passionate about taking on Monty. I actually wouldn't mind adding one of these into my collection, just in case i ever start a biketrials museum.
  4. Harry Harvey, yeah he's alright! He's gone practicing today by the look of his facebook site.
  5. In the last copy of YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE it mentioned visiting www.dunlopmotorcycle.co.uk to register your riding number for discounted tyres during the week. Tried looking there but ended up at a domain registration site. Anyone have any idea who to contact?
  6. Had it on my Raga just after i'd had it, a nut had just worked loose apparently!!
  7. Quite refreshing to read Pat's blog hear what he's truly feeling. People always moan about F1 with the drivers saying what's needed to keep the team/sponsors/bernie happy. Not old enough to remember the James Hunt era, but from what i've read he was pretty frank about what he said/did. I love reading all the carefully scripted rider reports which adds a touch of professionalism, but i must admit that occasionally seeing the usually calm and collected rider spit their dummy out, provides an interesting insight into how driven a top rider is compared to the rest of us. Pat's learning curve is also a steep learning curve in Public relations as well as travel, new people etc. Pretty brave of him to give it a go and even braver to show his emotions......damed if you do, damed if you don't!! Good luck
  8. Indoors must be most lucrative to the riders to make a living, sponsors must prefer their logos clean and viewable. Without the odd arena style section at the WTC it would surely make Dibs, Browny and Morris's task even harder when they get given a crack at going indoors. Can remember watching a WTC from wales on tv, Rob Crawford was riding Montesa at the time, wish i'd looked after the video
  9. Great ride by Adam, sure it must be the best birthday present he could of wished for!! Keeps the championship nice and open as well.
  10. Exercises are closer to real world activity are going to help a great deal more than machines which will increase strength but not function. These movements include squats, and lateral and diagonal squats. Your physician/physio can help you with these exercises (maybe). After mastering these, try single leg work. These include static squats (often called stationary lunges), and full lunges. If you are successful at maintaining good form with these, you may try diagonal lunges, and one-leg partial squats. When your muscles, tendons, and ligaments are strong enough, its wise to attempt to balance on one leg as the act of walking is a single leg activity for a big % of the activity. Then close your eyes and continue. Find a balance board or wobble board to activate stabilizer muscles and work on the righting and tilting reflexes which is handy for trials. My coach Paul Chek made this one of the foundations of rehab. Paul speaks the body's reflexes, the righting reflex is activated when the body is moving across a stable surface. If you were riding across a camber, you would adjust or "right" your position (hopefully). Tilting reflex is when moving across unstable surfaces. For example when you slip while walking a section or while attempting to get on the moving walkways at the airport. Unfortunately, most gym equipment is in a fixed position, so that the tilting reflex is never engaged and as we all know Trials strength and conditioning is all about balance. Its often stated that 80-90% of ALL orthopedic injuries could be avoided by developing the tilting reflex, and the other 10-20% in my opinion by having fully functional/coordinating abdominals. When you train, think of ways that you can make your workout unstable. Have a trainer show you how to do some functional training while stood up, no use sitting on a machine strengthening your leg when you need it to work while walking etc. Perform certain weight training exercises while standing on one foot.
  11. Your welcome to tag along when i go practicing with my mate, he's only just started at the beginning of the year. Think i'm learning a lot from actually having to describe what i'm doing. We tend to get out once a week.
  12. I started using a cameback for all the novagars but found it draining having all the weight so high up. Had one made that is longer so the bulk of the weight sits in the lumbar curve. Wore it for the first time in the Lomax and it felt better so i'll be using that all week.
  13. Nice to see him riding well and getting some better results. Good rides by all the Brits especially Browny.
  14. Have sent you an email about it, hope it helps.
  15. Technology in Motion were great when it came to sorting mine out. I had a trip to London to sort it out but it looks like they sell through dealers nowadays. Technology in Motion Clinics The hinge was great, it was adjustable and it also had locks so i could limit range of movement which enabled me to train my leg well without going to far. Nobody ever knew i had it on at trials apart from when i wore shorts at biketrials. Probably the same as buying a bike or helmet. Go and try a few on as its such an important investment for you, see which feels the best.
  16. Ha, was an awesome day. Was a little chilly on the long ride between group 5 and 6 (i think). Their was sun at some point I'm sure.
  17. A combination of weak/weaker hamstrings, recruitment of the quadriceps prior to the hamstrings, and limited range of movement reduce the hamstring
  18. Awesome day, well set out and massive ride round. Thanks to everyone involved
  19. I wore one of these for around 5 years, by the time the 4th Surgeon screwed up yet another operation i literally lived in the brace. I even slept in it as it was so comfy and the pain without it was that bad. Wasn't cheap but i still get use out of it when i put it on my clients. Best bit of blagging i ever did when i convinced the NHS to get it for me. CTi 180 Brace
  20. Was pretty bad on parts of the M1, got as far as Leeds before i got a call. Anyone know if the Lomax still looks ok for tomorrow?
  21. Have got the full track, can see why they never used the vocals!!
