  1. What sponsorship money we on about now?
  2. Tha can't remember 17 Perce! Ish told me told say that :-) Honest
  3. Me Gods, seems to be appy now our ND
  4. We got there! Each centre has it rules regarding restricted, C2C, Centre trials etc. I believe it will mainly stay that way.
  5. Forgot to add: The landowner wants a few quid too! We did not charge admission to our event, just car parking fee that went to the landowner too!
  6. I feel sure if you give John Shirt a ring at GasGas uk somebody there will help you out
  7. The meeting on Sat is for BTC organisers. Wouldn't miss it for the world :-) May I ask what your fixation with sponsorship money is? Please just be glad the sport gets some sponsorship! You can always see the ACU accounts should you wish to.
  8. Read the 1st reply ! May I also add that even with Mr Appleyard's sponsorship and others the trial is run at a loss. I am speaking for BDMC
  9. Dabs, are you going to seminar at Rugby on Sat?
  10. Dabs, even me in my meekest thoughts I can't BELIEVE you ask this question, yourself being so knowlegeble in trials! Colin Appleyard sponsors the BTC thro his love of the sport. Not just trials but motorcycle sport in general. I can tell you there is no money to be gained out of it by CA. There is no money to be gained out of sponsoring any trials, just look at the crowd, (oops where is it?) My own company sponsor trials also, why? The answer is because of the sport, OK I may sell a trailer/rack/towbar but that NO WHERE NEAR covers the
  11. Stu, your assumption is "partially" correct. Join 1 club you can ride any National. However that club will be a member of a centre, so you can ride "centre" trials in that centre. Clubs have trials: restricted to invited clubs. (restricted) open to centre (centre restricted) closed to club (name says it all) In Yorkshire we also have West Yorkshire Championship trials. DONT EVEN ASK !!!!!! To win or participate in a CLUB championship you would normally have to be a member of that club. Certainly Bradford!
  12. So as I say Ish, who runs the FIM? The fat cats that travel the world at no cost, hard as it is for them :-)? Or me, you, or J Bloggs from Harrogate that can't write? Let the riders have a say, and I dont meant the 5 big boys. Lets get the sport into some sort of respectable order! Some observers round here will NOT observe FULL No stop Some always observe full NO stop even when it is TSR22a. Some do what they want. Some riders will not ride full no stop. At our poll last Xmas, 96% were in favour of FIM type rules. By the way Happy Christmas thi old bugg3r
  13. Eee, got some folk moving ere eh! I just think that whatever rules we do have we should be the same across the UK, so we have got to have a standard rule. Every weekend the same question arises (and sometimes 1/2 way thro a trial "What rules are we riding today?" Now that is the riders fault, they should read the regs, however most trials riders can't read or write. I know, I read the entry forms etc! Mr J Bloggs Harrogate on the envelope for results, then they are ringing up Tuesday, "Where's my results?" Some dont even get posted cos if I can't read em how is Postman Pat supposed to? The FIM is supposed to be run by the unions/federations that belong to it. That means they have a say in decisions. The same goes for the ACU and clubs / centres that to belong to it. So tell me WHO tells the FIM what rules riders want to run under? Is it the elite 5 riders, the manufacturers, or what? Head down and waiting for some flak.
  14. A programmable stopwatch with alarm does the job. And under
  15. Nothing was clear in the TMX, we did not have a beginners course as they stated, and next Sunday the trial is NOT a Yorkshire Centre Championship trial as mentioned in the TMX either.
  16. a footpeg in the side of the head, repeat offenders get one either side :-)
  17. A good few years ago the ACU brought in rule TSR22a ie: Stop and you get a 1 This was brought about to keep in line with the (at the time )FIM world rules. I now think that it is time the ACU updated the rules in line with the FIM. It is like asking our footballers to play with 2M wide goals and 11 men but when they go to Europe/Worldwide play with 3m wide goals and 21 men. In which other regulated worldwide sport do you see the massive difference in rules? The ACU are under the FIM umbrella so to speak. Let the SSDT, Scott etc run under what ever rules are needed for that type of event, but lets get the grass roots of the sport settled into 1 set of rules. It is no wonder trials does net get any publicity when not even the competitors / observers know what rules they are riding under from 1 trial to another!!!! And that is a fact, ask any observer how many times he/she has been asked "what rules are we on today? " But then trials riders NEVER read their regs / entry form. DO YOU ? Trials is not a "new spectator" friendly sport anyway due to the fact you cannot see who is winning, but having one set of rules just might help to educate the occasional onlooker. He/She may go to XXXX club trial on 1 Sunday, then another the next Sunday, can't understand what is happening so forgets it all together. So the sport has lost a spectator (which means sponsors) + a potential rider. This is not bull as I see a LOT of folk that have bought a bike but do not wish to compete as they are confused by the rules/red tape, so just go playing. The same folk are the ones that may get the sport of motorcycling as a whole a bad name.
  18. This was the first time the club had put in this type of course, "AS A RESULT OF RIDERS ASKING FOR IT" so we did it and it seems to have been a sucess. It was good to see some riders that would NOT have moved up to the hard course giving it a try. Riders must ask their club to make changes. Remember the riders / members ARE the club. and we should LISTEN to them.

Was that 1 cover or 1 dab, cover seems the best bet. :-)
  20. To get the numbers required to make it viable with toilets etc it really needs to be a Bank Holiday weekend to allow for travelling time. Im biased but YORKSHIRE is the trials capital of the WORLD :-) A 2 day event would be great, easy trial Sat, bit harder Sunday. Sorts out the beer burglars then!!!! The 2004 event saw riders go home with some good prizes, and not only the good riders.
  21. It is about time we had 1 rule and 1 rule only. Whatever that rule may be. If it is 22a where a stop is penalised a 1 so be it. Maybe give Scott, SSDT special dispensation. My club ran a trial last year under FIM rules. All we had to do was ask permission from the ACU. You dont play a football match on Saturday with 12 ft wide goals then make em 10 ft on Sunday! The ACU is the UKs governing body, the FIM the International governing body, so lets follow them I say. Remember the ACU is a UNION. If you have an opinion/suggestion let your club/centre know. The centre delegates can then have YOUR say at ACU meetings etc. Observing can be difficult at the moment as truly you can forget what rules a particular trial is run under. (at some time during the trial a rider will soon remind you tho) If a rider who has entered the trial has to ask the observer what rules it is WELL !!! But the riders dont read regs/entry forms do they? To all riders/spectators etc that complain about the standard of observing in the UK, GET OF THI ASS AND DO SOME OBSERVING. Flak jacket on and hiding under desk !
  22. I hope he makes it to the final round next weekend. With Sam probably out of the trial now it would be sad to see Shaun a non starter too. Sunday 9th Oct. Skyrakes Nr Skipton N Yorkshire 11.15am start (on the Skipton to Grassington road 1 mile from Skipton)
  23. Real shame for Sam, don't look good for him being able to ride next weekend (9th OCT) With Shaun Morris not riding today barring a disaster for Graham looks like the title is his. However Steve is only 11 points behind and Skyrakes, the Bradford round could throw up another surprise. Steve seems to like big stuff, does Graham ? James Dabill has ridden there from the youth days and knows much of the ground. I feel sure the 3rd place in the championship is his! I was up there today and the sections were 100% different in the dry, yesterday in the rain it was hard going walking !!! The sections have been planned, the day is going to be: Some tight sections on bankings. Some GIANT rockery. Some small rockery but tight. Some MUD. Good weather. Fantastic scenery. And a great end to the 2005 season !!!
  24. I/Autowbars looked at producing a demountable bike trailer a few years ago. When we made a prototype and looked into getting it tested the testing co advised us that there was no way we would get product liability insurance for it !! A trailer does not have to be less width than the towing vehicle as long as it has the legal lighting and reflectors. A two bike trailer can be made very slim by loading the bikes forward & reverse. Bit awkward but does work, we have made a few this way.
  25. Dan, that is the sort of POSITIVE reply I like, and thats from an ACU member, it is still the cheapest form of motorsport going I'm sure
