  1. Its stunning . All that work and then fits those tyres . I suppose it will give the new owner something to do. Tarting things up is great until the thing gets used for its intended purpose, painting plastics is never a good idea on an off-road bike but even the manufacturers like BETA and SCORPA used to do it but at least they are using industrial duty products that have some chance of survival for a while. Never mind you cannot knock the levels of effort. So a Gold star for that. Well done.
  2. A little late perhaps but there is no step , just push/pull them out with heat etc do not hammer on them its not the best of methods. pressing them out hydraulics is the best/easiest way obviously.

  4. Hello yes that is the set up it should have and if you have the correct amount of weight added to the standard 125cc flywheel and the correct jetting in the carb that you are using then your jerky take up is more than likely the ultra low gearing of 9/48 that feels horrible in my experience. it is quite normal on a more modern trials clutch to slip the clutch at slow speeds in order to smooth out bikes movement and so it may just be your technique as an in experienced rider. but I think you will benefit greatly from changing your sprockets to 10/42 on your 225 , as a comparison a 250cc GasGas Pro has standard sprockets set at 11/42 and standard sprockets for a GasGas 125 Pro are 9/44, 9/48 is 125cc only and was popular with schoolboy riders on GasGas and Sherco 125 cc machines because it made the use of 3rd and sometimes 4th gear possible . Anyway you will be the judge of that. Hope it works out for you . Best wishes Alan.
  5. @Steveyboy Oh this may be of use to you , if you need a new piston you want to buy the 250cc TXT EDITION version made by S3 as that piston has a 16mm gudgeon pin to fit the shorter length 125cc Con Rod and that EDITION piston is the one that is in the kit when bought new , The 225cc cylinder is just a 250cc PRO cylinder with 5mm cut off the top of it but you cannot use the 250cc piston for the PRO model as it has a 18mm gudgeon pin.
  6. @Steveyboy This is what the specs were when the 225 kit came to market as used by a man referred to by most as Factory Kev who was the head mechanic at what used to be GasGas UK when John Shirt was the importer , he is still around working on bikes as far as I know you may find him on Facebook?? His name is Kevin Hipwell. he helped design the 225 conversion and used to ride one in competitions himself . Anyway here is the basics from my notes at the time: Gearbox sprocket 10 teeth Rear sprocket 42 Teeth Fly wheel weight 1020grams Jetting on a Dellorto PHBL BS26 is same as a 125cc bike pilot being a 36 but change the main jet from the standard 125 jet which is a 105 to a 110 for the 225cc , If you want to run the bike with a Keihin PWK28 pilot is 45 or 48 and a main jet of 118. That is it really The 225cc must have the heavy 1020g flywheel weight fitted or it will be too responsive perhaps you dont have one fitted as they have been un obtainable brand new for years now , they were interference fit and had to be heated before fitting to the 125cc flywheel and when it cooled it gripped although for better security it was recommended that some spot welds were placed on the join seated area ,although that could cause the unit to be un balanced which is bad for the motor. As you cannot get the flywheel weight you will have to make or get one made by modifying a 250cc one that are available and produced by a company called S3 , you can find these at the importer JSM Motorcycles @ their web shop www.trialendurodirect.com. When you have done all the right mods the 225 works great not jerky but very smooth on take up . Best wishes Alan.
  7. @Triad Have you considered a Enduro bike as it seems to be a suitable bike for what you want to do and as you are reasonably tall the seat height will be better suited to you than those low trail bike seats that are better suited to 6ft 9" or shorter.
  8. @Triad That 125cc GasGas is a bargain if it is 700.00 Euro with those new parts fitted . The only real difference between a 125 and the 250/280/300 bikes is the cylinder, piston ,con rod length . flywheel and stator plus the CDI unit then some minor differences such as exhaust parts depending on manufacture year 2004 especially had different exhaust parts Everything else is common to the larger cc bikes such as frames, wheels, brakes ,gearbox ,clutch etc , the same on all the versions 125 weighs almost as heavy as the larger bikes but feels lighter when riding it . If you are not serious about being a Trials pilot then the 125 has enough power to play and your best gearing will be 9Z gearbox Sprocket and 44Z Rear Wheel Sprocket for trail rides. You also need to mix your Fuel with more oil for play Trail rides such as 40:1 or 50:1 to help against seizures. Trials ratio is 80:1 or 100:1 , The price and the new parts fitted says to you BUY ME! Good luck whatever you choose to do. Regards Alan.
  9. For any one that is interested I just found this that gives the necessary information about the SMART CARB SC2. https://youtu.be/tBuwSkjruk0?feature=shared .
  10. The design of that carb is very interesting I like it a lot but at $700.00 USA and £770.00 in the UK it seems to be a works rider only choice. At club level in the UK it seems a little excessive to my mind . A couple of years ago I bought a second hand genuine KEIHIN PWK28 with standard manufacturer recommended jets/settings for £50.00 off ebay gave it a clean by hand and it worked absolutely crisp from pick up through to rev out. If you have Elons money then of course why not if it works as well as they say its like having fuel injection as you point out. Enjoy and no more jetting problems for you , that has to feel good. All the best Alan.
  11. Hello there I am back again, glad you like the referenced YouTube suspension stuff. I just messed with a Floating disc recently as it had too much play in it for my liking . About 15 years ago I managed to get some floating disc spacers that a trials enthusiast had made to closer tolerances out of bronze or something similar and they were perfect with sideways movement only so no clunky feel when slamming on the brake to hop the back wheel sideways or clanking noise , sadly these are no longer available. EM is headed by one of the two original French SCORPA founders that parted ways to form EM the other started SHERCO and so with that connection you have EM buying in SHERCO/SCORPA (same owner) swing arms and side stands and other things from the SHERCO/SCORPA PARTS BINS. the front hubs on your EM bike probably carry spanish made NG discs that will fit other makes of trials bikes as the BRAKTEC Front calipers used to compliment them are commonly fitted on most trials bikes as standard and will fit OLLE/R16V forks as they do TECH. With this being the case your EM discs will have floating disc spacers the same as used on the SHERCO/SCORPA and GASGAS bikes. If you want to buy new ones then JITSIE make them to fit but these in my recent experience have a lot of slop and I was using a brand new NG disc so everything new no wear . In the end I bought a NG made fixed disc (will fit straight on most front trials hubs that use a floating disc) that was used on the 2002 GASGAS TXT PRO model and it works great with ZERO slop but of course if you crash and bend the disc you will have problems as the fixed disc has no easy side movement like a floating one. Hope that helps you sort things out. If you do not like the amount of movement in your floating discs then you could try to get some one with a machine shop to make some disc spacers that have a closer tolerance in your discs. Hope that helps now or in the future. Regards Alan.

    Ossa back?

Or should I say One had a top 3 rider on board at the WTC and the other went there as an after thought with a fairly good rider but too late to make a difference.

    Ossa back?

They may have thought after their last efforts what would be the point in producing a trials bike in an already saturated and established market unless the company were prepared to pay for a top three Rider to compete in the World Championship , some serious cost to cover there obviously. As an example Tarres made the Jotagas with one of the two people who started the GasGas brand but there was no financial support available to fund a team to compete in the WTC with say Raga as their rider and as a result no real interest was generated for the brand especially after Tarres departed because he could not get interest to take the bike to the WTC and help market the machine , as a comparison look what happened with the other bike Tarres went off and built when he got the financial backing he needed. Its not because the TRS is a much better bike than the JotaGas as both are basically a GasGas Pro but made to look different Theres a picture out there somewhere on the net of Tarres in his house with a actual GasGas Pro using car designers modelling clay and bits of cardboard etc to sculpt the JotaGas Proto type over the top of it Both the JotaGas and TRS motors are so clearly derived from the Pro motor when you take them apart that they both are just basically GG pros with a few tweeks wearing different clothes. but one flew and the other disappeared into the ether basically down to serious marketing vs not much marketing.

    Beta 4T carb Issues

@stu109 https://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/66257-evo-300-4t-fuel-issue/page/2/ Take note of the point about failure leading to carb flooding. I am not saying that this is your problem just that it may be worth checking the solenoid function to eliminate it from the investigation.
